RUSH: Jay Rockefeller, chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence has once again done everybody a favor, opening his mouth and revealing for one and all exactly who and what liberal Democrats are. Thank you, Operation Chaos. The Charleston Gazette — that\u2019s in West Virginia — reports this: ‘Rockefeller believes McCain has become insensitive to many human issues. ‘McCain was a fighter pilot, who dropped laser-guided missiles from 35,000 feet. He was long gone when they hit. What happened when they [the missiles] got to the ground? He doesn\u2019t know. You have to care about the lives of people. McCain never gets into those issues.\u2019 Uh, this, my friends, is striking. In the first place, it\u2019s factually wrong. What did McCain fly, an A-4 Skyhawk or some such thing? There were no laser-guided missiles. They didn\u2019t hit I think \u2019til 1968 or \u201969. There were no laser-guided missiles. And McCain was shot down at 4,500 feet or 5,400 feet. He wasn\u2019t flying at 35,000 feet. He was shot down at around 5,000 feet. Laser-guided bombs were used in Vietnam, but they weren\u2019t used at the time McCain was flying his mission. <\/p>\n

Now, after this insult, Rockefeller went out and personally apologized to McCain on the Senate floor for suggesting that McCain doesn\u2019t care about the lives — McCain was defending the United States of America, for crying out loud! (interruption) Yes, Mr. Snerdley? Question from the program observer. Yes? Yes? Hm-hm. Hm-hm. Snerdley\u2019s question is, ‘How is what Rockefeller said any different than what Reverend Wright said about Hiroshima and Nagasaki and all these other places.\u2019 There isn\u2019t any difference. What\u2019s the difference between what Rockefeller said about McCain and what Democrats have been saying about the troops in Iraq, about the people at camp Gitmo, about the people at Abu Ghraib? <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: So Rockefeller went to the Senate floor to apologize personally for suggesting that McCain doesn\u2019t care about the lives of people caught in the wars that he champions, dating back to his Navy service days in Vietnam. Fox News Channel\u2019s Carl Cameron interviewed McCain after the Petraeus hearings, and he asked him, ‘What is your response to Jay Rockefeller\u2019s comment?\u2019<\/p>\n

MCCAIN: I would call upon Senator Obama to repudiate Senator Rockefeller\u2019s remarks, if he\u2019s surrounded by people like that, then I think he should have a direct repudiation. I, frankly, am unfamiliar with that kind of rhetoric from a member of the United States Senate.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Come on, Senator! Come on! You\u2019re unfamiliar with it? Have you paid any attention to what they\u2019ve said about our judicial nominees? You\u2019re unfamiliar? (doing McCain impression) ‘Yes, that\u2019s right, Limbaugh. But they\u2019ve never said this about me, and that\u2019s what makes me mad. I don\u2019t care about anybody else that they might criticize, because it\u2019s not about them. It\u2019s about me, Limbaugh. You know it, and I know it.\u2019 Never heard this kind of rhetoric from a Democrat in the Senate? He does have a point, though. Obama never does any apologizing, his surrogates go out there and make these comments, and then they apologize by repeating the comments in the process of making the apology.<\/p>\n

RUSH: In Crockett, Texas, this is Garrett. Thank you for calling, sir. Appreciate it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: How you doing, Rush?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Good.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Such an honor to speak with you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you very much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m going to get right to my point. Before I do I hope my accent doesn\u2019t start the liberal stereotype that all conservatives are rednecks, hope that doesn\u2019t happen. Two quick comments about what Rockefeller said, you know, and myself included and my great uncle invaded Omaha Beach, three Purple Hearts, my grandfather fought in Vietnam. When you fight in a conflict and you see stuff like that happen, you get a greater understanding and respect for humanity. That\u2019s what happens. The liberals have been going on and on and bashing the military for so long, it make us sick. I mean we\u2019re fighting mad down here in Texas. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, but you know what you need to understand down there, Garrett?<\/p>\n

CALLER: What\u2019s that?<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s not so much what Rockefeller said, because, frankly, I mean as a conservative, are you surprised a liberal would think that way?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, no, I\u2019m not surprised.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right. So what\u2019s interesting for me, anyway, I love motivation, I love to find what people\u2019s motivations are, because in explaining to people the motivation of others, you have a chance, a better chance to be persuasive that these people will be suspected. In Rockefeller\u2019s case, when he runs out and says what he said about McCain, he\u2019s firing bombs, he got it all factually wrong, but basically saying he\u2019s killing people on the ground, he doesn\u2019t care about that, he\u2019s insensitive, he has no idea. At the root of this is a belief that the United States and the United States military is the focus of evil in the modern world. In the liberal mind, everybody in the world is innocent. They are only evil, mean, rotten because we exist the way we exist. We exist as capitalists, and as capitalists we are the wealthiest nation on earth and we have the wealthiest population. We have the brightest future. And this just isn\u2019t right, this isn\u2019t fair. It\u2019s not fair that so many people should be left out. Why are we stealing all — this is a guy, by the way, you might understand it a little bit, he\u2019s from the Rockefeller oil fortune. He might have a little guilt because he had to do nothing but get born and grow up. <\/p>\n

We call it the Lucky Sperm Club. And a lot of people in the Lucky Sperm Club end up having real guilt problems because they haven\u2019t done diddly-squat to earn what they have. But even beyond that, he is a liberal Democrat, Rockefeller is, and I don\u2019t care which liberal Democrat you cite, they look at war as something never justified, that only the United States starts and that our way of practicing that war is inhumane and it\u2019s unconscionable. And so therefore it\u2019s easy to conclude that McCain flying over Vietnam, dropping bombs and so forth, doesn\u2019t care about the innocent civilians, because, you see, as far as liberals are concerned, the US military doesn\u2019t care who it kills. No, we will kill innocent children; we will terrorize mothers, as John Kerry said. You\u2019ve got John Kerry talking about the US military in Vietnam acting as Ghengis Khan. This is who they are. So at some point it serves no purpose to get mad when you hear these people say these things because they shouldn\u2019t surprise you. You can get upset about it, but this is who they are. It\u2019s time to learn, this is who they are. This is one of the great many ancillary benefits of Operation Chaos, by the way, is what it is exposing. These people are doing this themselves in their own words and with their own actions. It is not us, the good guys, telling you what they\u2019re saying. They\u2019re actually saying it themselves. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush, dittos.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, Rush, the Rockefeller comments about McCain, are those also an indirect attack on the Clintons, since that\u2019s the type of war they fought in Bosnia where precision-guided missiles were fired by pilots ordered to stay above a certain altitude?<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, because, see, that was NATO, and the Clintons weren\u2019t in the airplanes. (pause) I mean, I get your point. I get your point. The Clintons fought a war at 15,000 feet by bombing people, and it\u2019s a great way to point out the hypocrisy of Rockefeller. But again, see, you have to understand, it\u2019s easy to explain — and when you hear it, it sounds very plausible, very simple, but it\u2019s a tough thing to remember. Liberals believe that the world can be perfected. Obama, if you listen carefully to some of his sound bites, he will even say that: We are out to perfect the world; we want a more perfect world. They think perfection is achievable. They know that realists, such as us, don\u2019t get caught up in New Age garbage like perfection because we\u2019re too reality based. Perfection is just not possible, particularly among nations and human beings, it just isn\u2019t. There are too many factors, too many variables: education, intelligence, desire, ambition, a whole bunch of reasons. It\u2019s not possible, but they think it is, and so since they think it is, and since their intentions — I mean, who could oppose a perfect world? <\/p>\n

Why, it would be wonderful! But there are people in there view who oppose a perfect world: us. Therefore we are evil. We are pure eeeeevil. And we don\u2019t believe in a perfect world that can be perfected. As such, anything they do — with the motive being to achieve a perfect world — is entirely justified, destroying us or anybody else in their way. So how does this apply to McCain, Rockefeller, and the Clintons in Bosnia? Well, in Bosnia, the liberals simply had their good intentions. They were wearing them on the sleeve: trying to achieve a perfect world by getting rid of bad people. Trying to get rid of bad people. And so, dropping bombs on bad people, good intentions, trying to perfect the world? Fine! But McCain was Republican. McCain was part of the military, which is part of the problem, because the military stands in the way of a perfect world. In a perfect world there would be no need for a military because there would never be any hostilities. There wouldn\u2019t be any hate. There wouldn\u2019t be any discrimination. There wouldn\u2019t be any prejudice. There wouldn\u2019t be any bigotry. There wouldn\u2019t be any racism, sexism, homophobia, in a perfect world. But the Republicans oppose this, because Republicans are racists, sexists, bigots and homophobes in the liberal worldview, and, as such, when a McCain-piloted jet drops bombs on (sobbing) innocent little children and people of color, it is not an attempt to perfect the world. It is killing babies, women, and children. So it is thoroughly condemnable. There\u2019s no question. You just condemn it<\/p>\n

Then you say, ‘Well, wait a minute! You guys ordered the same thing in Bosnia.\u2019<\/p>\n

‘Oh, no, no, no. That was not the same. We were trying to rid the world of bad people. You were trying to rid the world of innocent women and children and babies and you didn\u2019t care, and you were dropping Agent Orange and those people were innocent. That war was our fault. We had no business being there. We deserved to lose.\u2019<\/p>\n

But, see, NATO was not even the US military. That was an international force, or a North Atlantic Treaty Organization force, and therefore it was an alliance of nations. It was not the eeevil United States. In fact, the only representative of the United States was Wesley Clark, Ashley Wilkes, the commanding general. He\u2019s a good liberal. He had good intentions. He wanted to perfect the world. The spokesman for NATO who came out and announced the success of the war in Bosnia — Jamie something or other, had proper British accent? Not an American. A European! A citizen of the world. (doing impression) ‘Our forces there, under the command of General Hornblower Windfogger…\u2019 We got the daily report of casualties, but that was all for a perfect world. We\u2019re not for that, and so anything done to destroy us is entirely possible. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
