CALLER: Thank you, Rush. Thank you so much, and listen, “Woo-hoo!” to you. I saw you last night on television.<\/a> There are two points I wanted to make. When you said, “Make America great is not a slogan, it\u2019s an objective”? Bingo. And also, this morning someone made the comment that Trump is not on the ballot. I looked at my husband and I said, “Trump is the ballot.” So yes, we are fired up. We have voted. And we\u2019re moving right along with the rest of them. And I do think that we\u2019re gonna come out on the good end.<\/p>\n RUSH: Well, you know, I\u2019ve got a piece here today in my Stack<\/a>. There is a, uh… (sigh) How would I describe this? He\u2019s a citizen expert in analyzing polling data and other things. He\u2019s not Nate Silver. His name is Larry Schweikart<\/a>, and he has a piece out today. He\u2019s been building up to it, and actually thinks that this is gonna be a day that shocks everybody because of the number of Republican victories that are going to happen. I will share his thinking as the program unfolds. But I\u2019m running into a lot of people like you who think that there\u2019s no such thing as a blue wave. There\u2019s gonna be a red wave if there\u2019s anything. But you\u2019re right about Trump being on the ballot. Trump is this election on both sides.<\/p>\n CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n RUSH: It really is. Democrats have been fit to be tied since 2016 think that Trump stole the election; he\u2019s illegitimate. They have not come to grips with the fact that they lost the election — and that\u2019s dangerous, by the way. That —<\/p>\n CALLER: It is dangerous. I\u2019m beginning to feel… Well, I have for several months after Trump got in. I\u2019ve felt like, “Okay. We could still, quote, ‘save of our country.'” It\u2019s gonna take a lot of work, but he\u2019s certainly moving in the right direction, and I love it.<\/p>\n RUSH: Well, I\u2019ll tell you why it\u2019s dangerous. The acceptance of election results is what has always kept the peace, the relative peace. It is a strong sign of the acceptance of the will of the people and of the sanctity of our republic\/democracy. When an entire political party refuses to accept the election results because they didn\u2019t win — and that\u2019s really all that\u2019s been going on these last two years.<\/p>\n Everything aimed at Donald Trump to force him out of office, to get him behind bars, whatever — get him impeached — has all been because they refuse to accept the election results. And in the process, they refuse to modify and moderate whatever they believe in order to appeal to a majority of voters. When that happens, when that breaks down, then it\u2019s not good. It could lead to even worse division.<\/p>\n BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n RUSH: San Diego, Chris. You\u2019re next on the Rush Limbaugh program. Hello.<\/p>\n CALLER: Hi, Rush. I\u2019d like to tell you why I\u2019m optimistic about the Republicans and the future. Even if they lose — you know, narrowly lose — the House. I was a Republican, very political. I think there\u2019s a bunch of people that have a similar story as me, that back in the nineties I listened to your show every single day, even the repeat shows on weekends. I was very involved. And then there came a time in the late nineties that I just kind of got fed up with Republicans caving in to the bullying of the Democrats.<\/p>\n I just kind of threw in the towel and said, “Golly, just forget this,” and when Trump came in in 2016, I didn\u2019t vote for him. I didn\u2019t even vote. I thought he was like we were gonna get another Arnold Schwarzenegger. I didn\u2019t think he really has a chance, just another fake guy out for himself. Then after he got in. There\u2019s a few things that got my attention. One was the fit, the nationwide fit that the Democrats pitched, rolling around like children, in my city protesting on the day of the election.<\/p>\n I go, “Wow, there\u2019s something to this guy Trump,” and then, two, is that he stood up later after he was elected. He stood up and he was fighting and willing to go to battle against these guys, and he wasn\u2019t gonna cave in. And then, three, most importantly, I saw that the results, the actual real results of the things that he did. And I\u2019m proud to say that I am back in the game, baby. I reregistered as a Republican. I\u2019d been away from for 20 years. I think there\u2019s a bunch of people like me that are enthusiastic —<\/p>\n RUSH: I think that\u2019s exactly right. The only thing where I would say that you are still unique is that I think the majority of people like you were brought back into the fold by Trump and voted for him. I think a lot of the people who voted for Trump were off the political radar. Pollsters couldn\u2019t find them. They hadn\u2019t voted in a long time. They had tuned out. They had previously been involved. They\u2019d been disappointed because Republicans — and Democrats, too — promise all kinds of things on the campaign trail.<\/p>\n They assure everybody they\u2019re gonna go do those things — and they get into office, and you never hear from \u2019em. It never happens. Those things happen. You hear Republican campaign, “We\u2019re not gonna have amnesty on my watch,” and then you find out they don\u2019t fight for it or anything. It did cause a lot of people to tune out and just give up on politics. They were fed up with it. Who needs the aggravation?<\/p>\n That\u2019s when people started saying, “My vote doesn\u2019t count. This is crazy. I\u2019m through getting myself worked up into these various emotional fever pitches and having no payoff for it.” It was wearing people out. You didn\u2019t come back until after Trump was inaugurated and began to show results. He began keeping promises. I think a lot of people felt the same way about Trump, but they got on board during the campaign, and I think a lot of the official Washington establishment still doesn\u2019t know who Trump voters are.<\/p>\n They have not really made the effort to find out because they\u2019re too busy criticizing them, mocking them, laughing at them, and thinking it was a one-time, off-year oddity — Trump being elected — that they just missed. They don\u2019t think it can happen again. So they haven\u2019t taken the time to find out about people like you and why you\u2019ve been voting or not voting the way you have. But even at that we still don\u2019t know. I mean, you can sit here and you can say that there are a lot of people you think like you, but you can\u2019t tell me how many.<\/p>\n There better be millions for your story to have any value, and this is why these things are called anecdotal rather than scientific, because anybody can tell you a story. Not that it\u2019s not true. Anybody can tell you a story about their history in politics and then say, “I think there are a lot of people out there like me out there,” but we don\u2019t know that until the votes are counted. But I appreciate it. Chris, I totally understand what brought you back, and I understand what made you want to leave.<\/p>\n I totally get it. I totally get all of it. Now you\u2019re back and now you\u2019re fully invested in it. See, that\u2019s… I think every Trump voter remains fully invested in this. I don\u2019t think that they\u2019re nearly as unsophisticated as the elites or the ruling class have tried to convince themselves that you are. They think you got all hepped up and voted one time but that that\u2019s gonna be it, that they can overwhelm you in ways to nullify your vote or maybe get you to cash out, which is what they\u2019ve been trying to do for two years.<\/p>\n They\u2019ve been trying to sour the relationship between Trump voters and Trump — and as evidenced by these rallies, that hasn\u2019t happened. So the opportunity for big surprises, I think, still remains, \u2019cause these people on the left remain arrogant and condescending. You know, for Pelosi to be running around guaranteeing that she\u2019s speaker and when she gets in it\u2019s already done and this? She packs a punch? That is the stuff that just invites karma to just swallow you up. She\u2019s just begging to be knocked down on this. So we\u2019ll see. Hello, sir.<\/p>\n CALLER: Hello, Rush! Great job last night. Great talking with you again. You are definitely still playing in Peoria. Wonderful job last night.<\/p>\n RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n RUSH: Well, let me react to that. This theory is one I\u2019m familiar with. I remember back in 1992. This program debuts during the \u201988 presidential election and George H. W. Bush was president. So 1992 was this program\u2019s first encounter with a Democrat challenger. We had a bit with Dukakis but the Clinton campaign was the first. We had people calling, “Rush! Rush! Let \u2019em win. Let everybody found out how rotten the Democrats are. It\u2019ll be the best thing in the world,” and I\u2019ve always kind of treated that…<\/p>\n Because I\u2019ve never understood how we win by losing.<\/p>\n I understand the thinking, that the Democrats are so crazy that the more it\u2019s on display the better the odds they lose again. But I then say, “What more does anybody need than what just happened the last month? The last two years?” We have seen, on display, insanity! We have seen irrationality. We have seen lunatics every day, day in and day out, in the media, in the Democrat Party. We have seen the Kavanaugh stunt: The totally made up, manufactured allegations. We have seen the women wearing the vagina hats.<\/p>\n We\u2019ve watched unhinged people like Maxine Waters. We have seen the mobs. What more is needed? This, frankly, is my point in my most recent monologue in this hour about it can\u2019t the Democrat Party has become. But your theory, I remember not that long ago that — and it might have even been some people in the media — advancing the idea that Trump actually wanted the Democrats to win. He wanted the Democrats to win the House, because that would make it easier for him to win reelection right along the lines you\u2019re talking about.<\/p>\n That the Democrats start these massive investigations. Nothing happens except Trump administration people being subpoenaed, investigations, charges, or impeachment, Democrats going nuts. Look, I know what you\u2019re saying. You\u2019re saying even if they win there\u2019s an upside. I know you\u2019re not advocating that they win for that reason. So I get what you\u2019re saying. But, frankly, folks, I\u2019m tired of dealing with insanity every day. I would just as soon… We\u2019re gonna get it whether they win or lose anyway. CALLER: I wanted to tell you, I woke up with some optimism this morning that I thought I\u2019d share with you, just kind of hit me. We\u2019re all used to the adage of “one step forward and two steps back.” We live it in our lives. Tonight, to me, it\u2019s a win-win. If the Dems do take the House, I look at it as maybe a one step back, two steps forward. In other words, they will reveal themselves, it will be absurd wackoness for two years, which, in my opinion, and probably many others, tell most likely guarantee — not guarantee, but better ensure a Trump reelection. So four more years there. So we could take a step back, which will better ensure two steps forward. So I\u2019m ominous either way. I do think they take the House, but if not, all could still be good.<\/p>\n
