RUSH: This is Barack Obama Wednesday morning speaking to AIPAC about Jerusalem.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: Any agreement with the Palestinian people must preserve Israel\u2019s identity as a Jewish state, with secure, recognized, defensible borders, and Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided. (cheers and applause)<\/p>\n

RUSH: They went nuts in there. They heard what they wanted to hear, but they didn\u2019t stop to think if they could believe it because of who was saying it. But after that Barack heard from his Arab constituents, his Arab buddies, his Palestinian buddies, his Hamas buddies, and they told him they didn\u2019t like that. And typical, this is a guy, no preconditions, this is a guy who\u2019s firm in his resolve, when he says it, it\u2019s going to be. This guy is a wimp, he will tell whatever group to whom he\u2019s speaking whatever they want to hear, and then when he leaves, if he said something some other group didn\u2019t like, he\u2019ll change, as he did last night on CNN\u2019s The Situation Room. He just got through saying Jerusalem will not be divided. Candy Crowley: ‘I want to ask you about something you said at AIPAC yesterday. You said Jerusalem must remain undivided. Do the Palestinians have no claim to Jerusalem in the future?\u2019<\/p>\n

OBAMA: Obviously it\u2019s going to be up to the parties to negotiate a range of these issues, and Jerusalem will be part of those negotiations.<\/p>\n

CROWLEY: But you would be against any kind of division of Jerusalem?<\/p>\n

OBAMA: My belief is that, as a practical matter, it would be very difficult to execute. And I think that it is smart for us to work through a system in which everybody has access to the extraordinary religious sites in Old Jerusalem, but that Israel has a legitimate claim on that city.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But he\u2019s not going to be as forcefully oriented toward defending the proposition, \u2019cause he heard from Arab friends who didn\u2019t quite like this. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Moving on to Zbigniew Brzezinski. Zbigniew Brzezinski was on Joe Scarborough\u2019s show in which his daughter Mika Brzezinski is a cohostette, and Scarborough says, ‘Your buddy, Obama, went over there to AIPAC and I was struck by the tough talk regarding Hezbollah, the tough talk regarding Hamas and Syria, regarding Iran. Were you surprised he was stridently pro-Israel as he was?\u2019<\/p>\n

BRZEZINSKI: No, I wasn\u2019t surprised.<\/p>\n

SCARBOROUGH: Electoral politics again?<\/p>\n

BRZEZINSKI: You know, there\u2019s a certain ritual involved here, and after awhile, rituals begin to lose their meaning. They\u2019re kind of obligatory statements.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Do you know what that means? It means don\u2019t pay attention to what he says to any of these ritualized appearances. All presidents have to go to AIPAC. Don\u2019t pay attention to what they say. We all know they\u2019re going to say what the group wants and it doesn\u2019t mean anything after that. We all know they\u2019re going to go to the NAALCP. We all know they\u2019re going to go to some union hall. We all know they\u2019re going to go there, and they\u2019re going to go there, and they\u2019re going to go over there, and after they leave don\u2019t pay any attention to what they say, because it\u2019s just a ritual. They begin to lose their meaning, these kind of obligatory statements. So you go to AIPAC, you tell them what you\u2019re obliged to tell them, and then when you get called on it the next day, ‘No, I didn\u2019t really mean that.\u2019 And so Zbigniew Brzezinski, big Obama guy, basically excusing, don\u2019t pay any attention to what he says, Z-Big is telling us, don\u2019t pay any attention to what he says, don\u2019t ever pay any attention to what he says. That\u2019s not what Obama is or who he is. This is another brilliant thing, as far as the Democrats are concerned. Don\u2019t listen to what he says. Doesn\u2019t matter. What he says has no meaning. Which we knew. He says nothing better than anybody else ever has. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
