RUSH: Senator McCain in Denver yesterday at a town hall meeting.<\/p>\n

MCCAIN: American workers and families pay their bills and balance their budgets, and I\u2019ll demand the same thing of our government, which you\u2019re not getting now. Congress and this administration have failed to meet their responsibilities to manage the government.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right on, right on.<\/p>\n

MCCAIN: Government has grown by 60% in the last eight years. When I\u2019m president, I\u2019ll order a stem-to-stern review of government, modernize how it does business, and save billions of dollars. I\u2019ll veto every single bill with wasteful pork barrel spending on it, you can count on it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right on, right on, right on. He will do that. He is a budget buster. But did you hear him say that government\u2019s grown 60% in the last eight years? I mean, it\u2019s believable, but that\u2019s huge. What is our budget at, three trillion? Three trillion and the Democrats still say there are cuts. But the piece de resistance of the McCain town meeting in Denver yesterday occurred during the Q&amp;A, citizen Georgette Haddad had this to say to Senator McCain.<\/p>\n

HADDAD: Well, I want to tell you, I want to speak for everyone here, and I collaborate with every statement they say. And don\u2019t you ever, once you become a president and say, ‘Well, I was forced to raise taxes and I did this and I did that.\u2019 You tax us when we\u2019re born. You tax us when we\u2019re dead. You tax us when we eat. You tax us when we sleep. You tax us every which way. Get off of my back!<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right, Georgette! All right! See, if the Republican Party would just realize that\u2019s the emotion that\u2019s out there just waiting to be tapped into. This woman is frustrated like everybody is over the rising — everybody is going to be taxed. They\u2019re now taxing, as we\u2019ve talked about earlier today, making toll roads out of interstate highways because state revenue is down because people are driving less. They\u2019re gonna tax everything they can, and they\u2019re going to call most of it new fees or what have you. And she\u2019s fed up with it. And so are a lot of other people. If Senator McCain would realize, keep talking about the Reagan tax cuts and the Bush tax cuts and making them permanent. This is what Senator McCain said following Georgette Haddad.<\/p>\n

MCCAIN: If you\u2019re not busy, I\u2019d like to take you with me wherever I go. I thank you very much.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s a damn good idea. Finally some energy in this campaign. Damn good idea. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Sandra in Bellevue, Michigan, nice to have you at EIB Network. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you for taking my call, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes, ma\u2019am, thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: My question is, I keep hearing these people saying, ‘These evil people have all the money and they should have it taken away from them because they\u2019re so evil.\u2019 Even a three-year-old understands that the money is in Daddy\u2019s pocket when he wants a candy bar. Why didn\u2019t they understand that the poor are not going to hire them?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t think they look at it that way. I think they look at it… It\u2019s purely an emotional thing, the Democrats and left have done a great job of promoting class envy. Now, it doesn\u2019t work at election time so much for the Democrats, but it does create the phenomenon. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Mmm-hmm.<\/p>\n

RUSH: If you tell people who think they\u2019re suffering economically, going through hard times if you are a politician, you say, ‘Well, that\u2019s all right! I\u2019m gonna tax the rich, and those people go, ‘Yeah, yeah! You make them hurt, too! Make them suffer, too!\u2019<\/p>\n

CALLER: And then they\u2019ll cut the jobs down.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, yeah. Absolutely. The very people that are supposed to benefit from all these tax increases on the rich are the ones that get laid off.<\/p>\n

CALLER: They just must be brain dead, if they believe any of that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you know, when you stop and think that it\u2019s… We had a guy call here earlier today, Sandra —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah?<\/p>\n

RUSH: — who said he learned self-reliance from this program in 1992, not from his family. Now, you and I, probably, self-reliance is as normal and as common as breathing, but to a lot of people, it\u2019s a foreign concept. Now, you and I can\u2019t relate to that. You and I cannot relate.<\/p>\n

CALLER: My husband and I raised four children below the poverty level, and didn\u2019t find it out until about a year ago. We managed fine.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know. Sandra, there are more of us than there are of them. Trust me. Don\u2019t doubt me.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m working on it. (chuckles)<\/p>\n
