RUSH: The Clintons are about to turn that convention into a war zone. <\/p>\n

Obama is going on vacation without having named a running mate, and the Democrats all in a tizzy about that. Here. We got two sound bites. Ann Lewis, from the Clinton team, who was on DNCTV Live with the anchor Andrea Mitchell, NBC News, Washington; and Andrea Mitchell, NBC News, Washington, said to Ann Lewis, ‘I talked to so many people yesterday. There\u2019s a gender divide. All the men who were Clinton supporters said, ‘What are they doing? Why are they pushing this button? She\u2019s going to be embarrassed? She\u2019s going to be humiliated if it becomes a roll call because at the end it\u2019s going to be Obama and she won\u2019t have as many people as we want to have.\u2019 All the women said, ‘We want to be heard. We want to have a resolution. We want to have catharsis. We want to have closure.\u2019 What is it about the distinction now in the Clinton camp between the men and women?\u2019 This is all about having the roll call vote at the convention that the Clintons want to turn into a war zone. Here is Ann Lewis\u2019 first answer.<\/p>\n

LEWIS: We could probably spend an hour talking about what you\u2019ve just identified because it\u2019s really very interesting. But, again, aside from the small fact that those women we are talking about will be the majority of people who cast their votes in November, I don\u2019t want to make anybody unhappy at any stage of this campaign. But for sure, I want to know that those people who are watching this so closely — and many of them, as you heard — say, ‘In many ways this is about my voice being heard. This is about my being recognized.\u2019<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019ll tell you, these gals cannot take losing. Men lose all the time. These gals just can\u2019t take it. They want their voices heard. They want to blow this place up! You mark my words. The reason they want to do this is because they want to blow it up because they don\u2019t think that Obama can win. There\u2019s another story out there, a big story coming Monday in the Atlantic Monthly. Some reporter there got hold of 200 or so internal memos written by Clinton staff people during the campaign — and the Clinton staff people are nervous as hell about it, because it\u2019s not flattering. I have obtained three electrified phrases here from internal memos. One Clinton staffer said, ‘Obama is just unelectable.\u2019 Another Clinton staffer said, ‘Obama has a lack of American roots.\u2019 Another Clinton staffer wrote in an internal memo, ‘Obama is unelectable except perhaps against Attila the Hun,\u2019 and there\u2019s more. We know a lot of these are written by Mark Penn, we\u2019re told. He was fired by the Clinton campaign because the staff didn\u2019t like the guy. This is deep. Here\u2019s one more bite from Ann Lewis because we gotta go to the break here. Andrea Mitchell then says, ‘Well, it\u2019s the anniversary of events in Seneca Falls. Will there be a women\u2019s organizational march that will become a Hillary march at the convention?\u2019<\/p>\n

LEWIS: I\u2019m seeing a number of releases about events that are going to taking place that we are not planning.<\/p>\n

MITCHELL: But —<\/p>\n

LEWIS: The night that Hillary Clinton, right now — tentatively, and nothing is final, but the night that she might speak — Tuesday, August 26th is, of course, the anniversary of the day when the suffrage amendment, the amendment to the Constitution that guaranteed women would have the right vote finally was added to the Constitution.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Ah! <\/p>\n

LEWIS: I can\u2019t think of a better way to celebrate.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh.<\/p>\n

LEWIS: That was a historic achievement. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes.<\/p>\n

LEWIS: Her campaign was a historic achievement.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, yeah.<\/p>\n

LEWIS: So there are steps along the way —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right. That\u2019s right<\/p>\n

LEWIS: — as people watching, whether they are there or watching at home, and they say, ‘Yes. We\u2019re being heard. We\u2019re being recognized. We\u2019re part of this.\u2019<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, three things. The night Obama speaks is the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King\u2019s speech, the ‘I Have a Dream\u2019 speech. Now we\u2019re told the night Hillary speaks is the anniversary of women getting the vote, which is what started the welfare state that now strangles us, by the way. If women had never gotten the vote we wouldn\u2019t have a budget deficit, but that\u2019s another story. The third thing is — the third thing is, ladies and gentlemen — the reason Obama is it not want a roll call count is because the world will see exactly how close that race was. They will see how narrowly he won. That\u2019s why they don\u2019t want the roll call vote. By the way, Mrs. Clinton\u2019s out there saying, ‘You think your candidacy, Barack, is so historic? Well, so is mine,\u2019 and that\u2019s what really bugs the women. Okay, so a black candidate, that\u2019s more historical than the first woman candidate? There\u2019s a war brewing here, folks. Actually, it\u2019s been going on for a long time. It\u2019s just now effervescing up there to the surface.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
