RUSH: Here\u2019s Bob in Willowbrook, Illinois. Bob, glad you waited. Welcome to the EIB Network, sir. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: How do you do, Rush? And thank you for talking about this. I\u2019ve been waiting 12 hours to vent. I\u2019m not an evangelical, I\u2019m not even a parent, but the treatment of Sarah Palin is absolutely outrageous. I\u2019d like to start with a fact, and anyone who knows anything about Down syndrome kids knows that the situation is far more common among older mothers. So the idea of demanding a paternity test is ridiculous. And apparently reporters don\u2019t need to concern themselves with boning up on the facts.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, no, you\u2019re right. You\u2019re missing the point. This is just to create havoc. This is just to promote crisis. They\u2019re trying to create and have it stick that Sarah Palin is a liar. That\u2019s the purpose of the request. They don\u2019t care whether it\u2019s true, they couldn\u2019t care less. They don\u2019t care whether it\u2019s really hers. They\u2019d be thrilled if she was lying about it, but the point is to establish in the minds of the news consuming public that she can\u2019t be trusted.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, how is it that liberals are exempted from the charge of dealing in stereotypes? If a conservative or — well, there are no conservative reporters — but if any conservative were to talk about a minority in stereotypical ways, he\u2019d be out of a job by the end of the day.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, it\u2019s a good question. There\u2019s an answer to it and that is that the liberals are sophisticated and they care more for these minorities than Republican conservatives do, plus there\u2019s nobody going to hold them to account. They\u2019re not accountable for what they say or do. Joe Biden was here in Palm Beach yesterday, over in West Palm Beach, 1,200 people or 1,700 people went over there to the convention center right across from City Place to hear Joe Biden speak. During his speech, and by the way, he said he thinks Sarah Palin\u2019s qualified. He was okay with that; he didn\u2019t want to cause any controversy. But he said that what Democrats are going to do, (paraphrasing) ‘We\u2019re going to protect Social Security. We\u2019re going to keep the word social in it and security in it, and we\u2019re going to keep the word private out of it.\u2019 And then the mayor of West Palm Beach, Lois Frankel, she showed up and said, (paraphrasing) ‘Electing Sarah Palin, that would be like bringing back the butterfly ballot.\u2019 Well, now, who was it that created Social Security? Who designed it? And it\u2019s broke! Who designed the butterfly ballot? Democrats! If they were held accountable for their mistakes, our country would be smooth sailing about now.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay. I have a few questions first. I am a Hillary supporter and I do not like Sarah Palin. She\u2019s trying to get rid of, uh, our pro-choice life and turn it back to the 1930s, number one. Number two, she\u2019s trying to steal, um, um, Hillary\u2019s supporters so when she goes for the presidency and John McCain ruins the economy just as much as George Bush ruined the economy, then she could take the responsibility and say it\u2019s not me that was in gov–<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — was in power, it was McCain.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Lisa, do you — I just have to know this. Do you really believe what you just said?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I do.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s a shame.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Because Republicans never take responsibility. Social Security was doing fine —<\/p>\n

RUSH: it\u2019s very sad.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — before Republicans came in power. It was strong, and the dollar was strong. With eight years of George Bush —<\/p>\n

RUSH: It had no chance from the get-go. The golden goose was going to be killed by the program. It has happened. It is massively in debt. Bush tried to fix it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, Bush and — and elected Republicans ruined the economy — <\/p>\n

RUSH: This is a waste of —<\/p>\n

CALLER: — and you Republicans —<\/p>\n

RUSH: — precious broadcast time.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — do the saaaame talking points.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I cannot talk to a walking cliche. You don\u2019t think on your own. You\u2019re just repeating all this garbage that you hear on whatever you listen to, read, and so forth. It really is a shame because you otherwise sound like a pretty perceptive woman, but you\u2019re just so poisoned by what sounds to me like a bunch of anger. None of what you believe is accurate.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, I\u2019m not angry. I just — I\u2019m just hoping that we won\u2019t get another four years of George Bush and (garbled).<\/p>\n

RUSH: Nothing that you believe in is threatened. George Bush did not destroy the country\u2019s reputation. America is in fabulous shape. It\u2019s got more people working than at any time in the Bill Clinton administration. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Can I ask a question? <\/p>\n

RUSH: What is it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Can I ask a question? When McCain ruins the economy and Sarah Palin goes for the presidency again against Hillary Clinton —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, I\u2019m going to —<\/p>\n

CALLER: — is he going to use her experience over Hillary Clinton?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a second. Wait. I want to ask you this. I\u2019m probably wasting my time and I\u2019m frustrating my audience doing this. But would you explain to all of us why and how John McCain\u2019s going to destroy the economy?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Because George Bush destroyed the economy — and — and — and<\/p>\n

RUSH: No.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And he\u2019s going to do it and Sarah Palin.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No. The economy has not been destroyed. The economy is in better shape today than it was in the Bill Clinton era. There are more people working, average income is higher, productivity is high. <\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s a lie!<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re believing a bunch of lies from a bunch of people who are trying and succeeding to poison your mind. You are less than you should be as an American citizen. You are just a sponge, accepting a bunch of literal garbage. George Bush has not destroyed anything. George Bush has saved and protected this country and kept it safe since 9\/11. George Bush was an adult who took seriously the number-one responsibility of the president of the United States, which was not taken seriously by Bill Clinton.
