RUSH: This is really amazing. Ladies and gentlemen, I admit to you in many instances that I understand liberals like every square inch of my glorious naked body. I can tell you what they\u2019re going to do before they do it. I can explain to you why they\u2019re going to do what they\u2019re going to do before they do it. I can analyze for you after they\u2019ve done it what they were thinking, what they were hoping. There is one thing that I don\u2019t quite understand their thinking on. Not totally. It\u2019s this whole business of Jesus Christ was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate was a governor. I need some help on this, because the only way to analyze that in the current context is Jesus Christ equals Obama, Sarah Palin equals Pilate. Pilate allowed mob rule to run crazy on the community organizer and we had a crucifixion. I do not understand how this is a positive for Obama. <\/p>\n

Obama was a community organizer, Jesus was a community organizer? And then you throw the Pilate thing in there, I literally don\u2019t understand it. I know this will appeal to the kook fringe \u2019cause it was a kook fringer who posted this originally on the Washington Post blog called The Fix, some nutcase out there, and it gets picked up by the Drive-Bys, it gets picked up by Donna Brazile and people. The latest is Tom Brokaw. Tom Brokaw used this yesterday in an interview on Meet the Depressed with Rudy Giuliani. <\/p>\n

BROKAW: It seemed to a lot of people that you were belittling the role of a community organizer, and it lead to this button that was addressed to Senator Palin because she also talked about it, ‘Jesus Christ was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate was a governor.\u2019<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, this just defies — I thought Tom Brokaw thought that Olbermann and Matthews — and I get those two mixed up — were too extreme and were bringing down the reputation and the image of NBC. Chris Matthews actually chastised on his show one of the congressman, Steve Cohen, Democrat from Tennessee, for using this. He said, (paraphrasing) ‘What are you talking about? What the hell does this mean?\u2019 And then this guy apologized for it, Steve Cohen, ‘Yeah, I was wrong, I should have said it a different way.\u2019 Now here\u2019s Brokaw out there using this phrase and showing the button. There\u2019s now a campaign button made out of this thing, and he shows it to Rudy Giuliani. This is a great example of what I was talking about last week. We really screw up when we try to analyze these people within rational terms or ways because they see this as something that\u2019s a huge positive for them. They see this as something that is going to really rescue Obama from this community organizer thing, to compare him to Jesus Christ. <\/p>\n

Now, he\u2019s already done that, that\u2019s The Messiah business, and that fell flat. The Messiah is gone. Obama\u2019s not even playing The Messiah card. Now, one thing I know that Obama\u2019s doing, Obama has come up with a new strategery, and his strategery is not to mention Palin, and the reason he\u2019s not mentioning Palin is \u2019cause he knows that these idiots in the Drive-Bys are doing it for him. I don\u2019t want to make too much of this, but I just want to tell you, there\u2019s not much that offends me anymore. I\u2019m 57, I have a whole new philosophy about being offended in the first place because I don\u2019t want to give that kind of power to people who offend me. I hate the offended, they walk around sulking, they\u2019re always mad, always offended, demanding that somebody do something about the person that offended them, but this, this phrase bothers me. This phrase offends me greatly, and I don\u2019t understand literally in this one instance, I don\u2019t understand how they think this is a big plus for them. <\/p>\n

Remember now, this is the same group that could not understand why $175 million or almost $200 million worth of tickets in this country alone were sold to see the movie The Passion of the Christ. These are people who disdain Christianity. They are constantly talking about separation of church and state. These are people who are scared to death of people of faith. These are people who look down on evangelicals. These are people who mock them and make fun of them and think of them as a bunch of hayseed hicks now and they\u2019re out there trying to sound like theologians who are experts in Scripture and relating it to the modern day. Now, not only is Obama not Jesus Christ \u2019cause nobody is, nor is Sarah Palin Pontius Pilate. So we\u2019re going to play Brokaw again and then Rudy\u2019s answer right after it.<\/p>\n

GIULIANI: The group that recruited him was a Saul Alinsky group that has all kinds of questions with regard to their outlook on the economy, their outlook on capitalism. When Senator Obama was asked about his increasing capital gains tax, his answer was, ‘Well, it\u2019s only fair,\u2019 which gets you to a very core Saul Alinsky kind of almost socialist notion that it should be used for redistribution of wealth. And the community organizer thing was consistent with that kind of very left-wing approach. The question is, what kind of work did Barack Obama do and how effective was it long term? A lot of those housing projects failed.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It wasn\u2019t just that, education projects, but he didn\u2019t even want to talk about them. But this Pontius Pilate was a governor? Why don\u2019t you say Jesus Christ was a community organizer, but — you have to find somebody who was a governor because you\u2019re ripping Palin here. But it\u2019s a payback for Palin and Rudy mocking Obama\u2019s community organizing, as they should. He\u2019s a giant failure at stuff he doesn\u2019t want to talk about, he\u2019s lying about it, too. Steve Gilbert, Sweetness-Light.com came up with a whole list of examples. There\u2019s a couple websites on how Obama has been padding his resume, and we know this because a guy who used to work for Obama at a newsletter company which Obama said in his biography was a consultancy on high finance, says Obama\u2019s making it up. He\u2019s still going to vote for Obama because he likes Obama, imagine that, but he\u2019s making up his resume. He\u2019s totally made up the story of his work in New York for this newsletter company. He was a copy editor. He never met with Japanese investors. He never told anybody any financial strategy whatsoever. He never even wore a tie to work, but he\u2019s got this passage in his book where he\u2019s leaving his corner office, which he also didn\u2019t have, and he was talking to his secretary, which he also didn\u2019t have a secretary. And this is from somebody who worked there. He said the only guy who had a secretary was the CEO of this little small newsletter company. <\/p>\n

Obama describes walking out of his corner office that he didn\u2019t have after saying goodbye to a secretary he didn\u2019t have and he sees himself in a mirror carrying a briefcase wearing a suit and tie looking really spiffy thinking he\u2019s on the cusp of selling out here, betraying his organizational desires. This guy says, (paraphrasing) ‘He never wore a tie to work. None of us did. We never met anybody. We were copy editors. We\u2019d show up at ten o\u2019clock in the morning in jeans and a T-shirt.\u2019 He\u2019s making it all up. Again, folks, everybody\u2019s overlooking — like Rudy didn\u2019t answer this — nobody\u2019s talking about the Pontius Pilate line in this. They\u2019re all trying to say Jesus Christ was a community organizer and they think that they\u2019re refuting all the Palin and Rudy jocular criticism of Obama\u2019s community organization. I am here to tell you that these people, that all of a sudden Brokaw and all these other people now think that they\u2019re finally hitting home, relating to the values of voters and so forth, this business of throwing Pontius Pilate in there and Sarah Palin to him, knowing full well Pontius Pilate\u2019s historical role in the Bible, they are bombing on this like they can\u2019t believe, and it\u2019s \u2019cause they don\u2019t understand Christianity, they don\u2019t understand the people who are Christians, they don\u2019t understand people of faith. This is bigger than anybody understands.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Let\u2019s review the rest of these people that have said this line. Donna Brazile on September 7th, a little over a week ago on CNN.<\/p>\n

BRAZILE: Jesus was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate was a governor, and perhaps they should understand the role of a community organizer to help people —<\/p>\n

RUSH: And then this was Steve Cohen, Democrat, Tennessee, last Wednesday on the floor of the House.<\/p>\n

COHEN: I submit to you, Mr. Speaker, that the parties have differences, but if you want change, you want the Democratic Party. Barack Obama was a community organizer like Jesus, who our minister prayed about. Pontius Pilate was a governor.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And then Susan Sarandon.<\/p>\n

SARANDON: Jesus was a community organizer and Pontius Pilate was a governor. That\u2019s all I have to say.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, I hope they keep saying it. I hope it spreads. One of the greatest things in the world was Brokaw actually showing the button on Meet the Press yesterday. They can\u2019t possibly understand what they\u2019re saying. They can\u2019t possibly understand the ramifications of this. They just don\u2019t. Thank goodness for us.
