Ed, I\u2019m glad you called. Great to have you on the EIB Network. Hello.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: How you doing, Rush? I just want to give you an observation and take your comments offline. Basically, Barack Obama and his campaign and those 500,000 mind-numbed Bolsheviks were sitting in that square have done to the US what the Soviet Union couldn\u2019t do in 50 years. This is the first salvo in the establishment of a Marxist state, and anybody that doesn\u2019t think so had better get out there, had better open up their eyes, and better see what these people are doing. Nobody out there knows exactly what this guy is going to do, but they love him. That\u2019s basically how the Bolsheviks did it. That\u2019s how most totalitarians do it. At this point right now I\u2019m not scared. I\u2019m just&#8230; I\u2019m excited. I\u2019m pumped up, and I\u2019m ready to fight. So every other conservative out there that isn\u2019t afraid, get involved, get in your communities. It\u2019s time to do it.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Well, and we\u2019re going to do it, sir, but you gotta keep something in mind here. You talk about the Bolsheviks there in Grant Park last night and what that portends to you. The real way to look at this is this: 40% of America (I\u2019m approximating the number here) knowingly last night voted for socialism, whether they know what it is or not. Whether they know the definition of the word &#8216;socialism\u2019 or not, they understand the concept. There are 47 million Americans who do not pay taxes, who do not pay income taxes, and I will wager &#8212; there\u2019s no polling data on this, but I will wager &#8212; that the vast majority of them voted for Obama. Now, they did not. You tell them Bolsheviks and Marxists and Lenin and Stalin, they\u2019re not gonna understand that.<\/p>\n<p>They may not even understand socialism, and if they do understand it, they think it\u2019s a good thing. They\u2019ve been taught that it\u2019s a good thing in school. So what I am going to say is: 40% of the people in this country who vote want the kind of thing that Obama is going to offer. We\u2019re going to have to defeat 40% of the country, and then after they\u2019re defeated, they\u2019re going to be clamoring and mad and angry, and they\u2019re going to be&#8230; Things are always going to be unsettled in this realm. There\u2019s always going to be a certain percentage of people who want something for nothing. I saw&#8230; Mark Steyn had the line at the National Review. &#8216;We\u2019ve got a long way from JFK in 1960 who said, &#8216;Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s 1960. In 2008, it\u2019s now, &#8216;Ask not what your country can do for you; demand what your country can do for you,\u2019 and that\u2019s who voted for Obama. Now, there are a lot of people also that voted for Obama that are not that way per se. Shelby Steele\u2019s got a great piece today, that this is white guilt on parade; and he\u2019s written extensively of this, numerous books and articles. And that\u2019s another thing. Drive-Bys are trying to say, &#8216;No, no, no. There wasn\u2019t any white guilt here. There wasn\u2019t any Raspberry Effect or Blackberry Effect. We\u2019ve really gotten past it.\u2019 No, we haven\u2019t. We haven\u2019t gotten past it at all. Obama made a bargain with them.<\/p>\n<p>These guilty white people, liberals, love the bargain that they were able to make with Obama. Basically, Obama says, &#8216;Look, I\u2019m not going to do anything to you. I won\u2019t threaten you, as long as you don\u2019t hold my race against me,\u2019 and the bargain is, &#8216;Okay, we\u2019ll support you.\u2019 It\u2019s a little more complicated than that, and I\u2019m paraphrasing from Dr. Steele, and I\u2019ll share that with you in the upcoming portions of today\u2019s excursion into broadcast excellence. Not everybody&#8230; My point is, not everybody voting for Obama is being pulled by the cart, or not paying taxes. There are a lot of smart people who voted for him. Well, &#8216;smart.\u2019 Eh, even I get caught in the trap.
