RUSH: Pop quiz time. Pick the month, pick the day, pick the year when the teachers union pronounces that all classrooms must hang a portrait of President Obama. No answer. I don\u2019t know what the answer is; only time will tell. Okay, Snerdley is making his guess: January 20th, 2009. Pick the month or the day — well, the month, day, and year when the teachers union pronounces all classrooms must hang a portrait of President Obama, The One. I think the last time this happened was FDR, when you had to do it. <\/p>\n

Now, Snerdley told me an interesting story here at the top-of-the-hour break. He got a call from a very close friend of his last night, who was very, very alarmed at what he had heard on this program yesterday. And what he had heard on CNN last night. He was very, very concerned. One of Snerdley\u2019s best buds, who loves Snerdley, wants Snerdley to continue to have a place to work (laughing) is worried that they\u2019re going to come after me at the Obama campaign. Now, stop and think of that when you hear the rest of this. He\u2019s worried the Obama campaign\u2019s going to come after me because I happened to say that Rahm Emanuel and Obama are ‘Chicago thugs.\u2019 Snerdley\u2019s buddy called him up and said, ‘Now, you understand, you\u2019ve gotta tell Rush that the word ‘thug\u2019 has racial connotations.\u2019<\/p>\n

Snerdley, according to his version of the story, came flying out of his couch, phone-in-hand-at-ear and said, ‘Is every criticism racial these days? I\u2019m getting sick and tired of all this political correctness and these speech codes and people trying to intimidate other people into shutting up. Every word is racially connoted. ‘Thug,\u2019 when did it become racial? And when did Rahm Emanuel become black?\u2019 I called him a Chicago thug, too. I thought the word ‘thug\u2019 actually could be traced back to union thugs. You know, I have been talking about union thugs for the longest time I\u2019ve been hosting this program. All of a sudden now ‘thug\u2019 has racial connotations? So here\u2019s a guy worried that Snerdley is going to lose his job because there isn\u2019t going to be a job because Obama\u2019s going to come after me, and that that\u2019s not thuggish. <\/p>\n

What they did to Joe the Plumber, that he isn\u2019t thuggish. That is thuggish. When you use the power of the state to investigate and publicly humiliate and persecute a private citizen who can\u2019t do anything to you in the United States of America, that\u2019s thuggish. And once again, folks, I don\u2019t care about Barack Obama except for one thing: his ideas. I don\u2019t care about his age. I don\u2019t care about his sex. I don\u2019t care about his sexual orientation. I don\u2019t care about his gender. I don\u2019t care about his wife. I don\u2019t care about the kids. I don\u2019t care about what his middle name is. I don\u2019t care where he was born. I don\u2019t care what his birth certificate says or doesn\u2019t say; he is my president, and I don\u2019t like his ideas, and I don\u2019t have to wait until Inauguration Day to find out what they are. I already know, because I did what any other American can do and found out. <\/p>\n

And so now I\u2019m the thug. Snerdley\u2019s buddy said, ‘Well, I\u2019m worried. CNN really targeted old Rush last night.\u2019 Yeah, and the sound bite they played didn\u2019t show any anger or rage. So this is a sign of what\u2019s coming. I told you the race industry is only going to get bigger. It\u2019s only going to get more intense. Any criticism of The One and his ideas? You criticize his ideas, and you are going to be targeted. They\u2019ve already made it clear that they\u2019re going to target people who don\u2019t like Obama\u2019s ideas \u2019cause they\u2019ve already done it! They\u2019ve already gone off on a number of people. Joe the Plumber is just one example. Now, I have been mentioning… By the way, let me remind you of something. The first person that I know of in this country who called Barack Obama a Chicago thug was Bill Clinton. <\/p>\n

It was during the presidential primaries, Democrat primaries when Obama played the race card against Clinton. And it was Obama who played the race card against Clinton. In this one instance, Der Schlick Meister was right. He did have the race card played against him and he didn\u2019t know what to do about it because he\u2019s ‘the first black president,\u2019 in his mind. Now Obama\u2019s going to destroy his legacy as well, by the way. He\u2019s going to do his best. It\u2019s what\u2019s coming. He has the political instincts of a Chicago thug. That\u2019s what Bill Clinton said. I\u2019m just in agreement with President Clinton. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: When you used the word ‘thuggery\u2019 about being charged as being a racist, I know firsthand what that feels like and the reality of that. A couple of weeks back, maybe about two months ago, I was watching Barack Obama and the whole thing, can I just eat my waffle, and my business partner and I thought, well, how fun would it be if we put Obama on a box of waffles, and we did that, we created this product —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, no, no, no, you didn\u2019t — of all — no!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, we did. The man waffles, and so we figured, let\u2019s just have some fun with that, a little political satire. Next thing you know, Whoopi Goldberg takes our product, puts it on The View, all four of the ladies sit around and completely trash us, next thing you know we have four death threats, thousands of angry, obscene e-mails to us saying, ‘You ought to have your throats slit on YouTube,\u2019 all over a box of waffles.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a second, no, it\u2019s not about — you had to know, otherwise there wouldn\u2019t have been any satire here. You had to have heard of somebody called Aunt Jemima.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, no, but, see, Rush, that\u2019s the thing, it honestly did not cross our minds. He waffled on a number of different things, we took those parody points, we put it on the box, and had we had the same idea when John Kerry was running, we would have put him on the box. It was no issue. And the other thing, Rush, that just fries my bacon on this thing —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, now, wait a minute. I don\u2019t know about your ability to use his likeness without his permission, either.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I will say this, that the frustrating thing to me is if Aunt Jemima and all those stereotypes are supposedly so hurtful, then why are all these people calling us racists going after Quaker Oats for selling millions of boxes, why is it just because we try to have a little fun with different parody points about this candidate for office, suddenly we\u2019re branded racists, and, you know, we would have put —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t think you should be surprised. This is my point. This kind of stuff is only going to increase. They\u2019re going to try to intimidate and shut everybody down that has things like this going on. Satire is not going to be permitted of The One. You shoulda hung in there. I don\u2019t know what you did, you coulda tried to hang in there, you ended up getting some free advertising here, I mean those bubble brains on The View going after you. Obama waffles, can I just eat my waffles? But you had to know this was coming. It\u2019s like, if you\u2019d have come out with waffle rice, I mean there\u2019s good old Uncle Ben, the same thing would have happened to you, or if you\u2019d have come out with Obama\u2019s brown rice, and the same thing would have happened, you put a picture of Obama on there, you got Uncle Ben, you got Aunt Jemima.
