CALLER: Good morning, Rush. Executive order by Obama to close Gitmo is so offensive to me as an American citizen. After only two days in office, his top priority was to extend the rights of terrorists. (sigh)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Are you surprised?<\/p>\n

CALLER: (giggles) No. I\u2019m not. But…<\/p>\n

RUSH: I mean, we knew this was coming. Elections have consequences.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, they do. But, during the campaign, he campaigned on my rights as an American citizen to health care, to have my mortgage paid if I\u2019m struggling, to affordable gas and housing and clean energy; and that, after only two days in office, his top priority was the rights of these terrorists? I am so offended as an American citizen, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: He\u2019s gotta placate his political left. He\u2019s gotta. He\u2019s gotta. Those people are not happy with what\u2019s happened so far. He\u2019s got to send them the signal as being true to their extremism, and that\u2019s why all these executive orders today are political. They have nothing to do with United States national security. But certainly you\u2019re not waiting around for him to make your mortgage payment. You\u2019re just being facetious, correct?<\/p>\n

CALLER: (giggles) Absolutely, I\u2019ve made my own mortgage for the last 20 years.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: The last person I want paying my mortgage is Obama and any of his cronies.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you know what? It\u2019s a great joke. I mean, your facetiousness and your sarcasm is well placed. Because I will guarantee you that there are people who are wondering why he hasn\u2019t done those things yet. He was going to bring back their house. He was going to give them their mortgage. They were going to be outta debt. They were going to have health care, and I guarantee you that some of the people that voted for him are wondering when he\u2019s going to get going on that.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, our last caller had a good point. She\u2019s waiting for her mortgage to be paid, her gasoline to be paid for, her job to be found and so forth. And she was being facetious, but, you know, there are a lot of Obama voters, ‘What the hell is this Gitmo stuff, where\u2019s my job? You know, where\u2019s my health care?\u2019 Wall Street Journal: ‘Bill May Not Stimulate Jobs Right Away.\u2019 This is a story of a stimulus bill that isn\u2019t. ‘As President Barack Obama\u2019s $825 billion economic-recovery package began making its way through Capitol Hill, congressional budget analysts suggested a key plank of the plan may not provide as big a near-term lift for the economy as expected. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office–‘ that\u2019s the old CBO gang, the Democrats run that. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office? Give me a break. It\u2019s always run by the party that runs the House, and right now that\u2019s the Democrats. <\/p>\n

The CBO ‘projected less than half of the $355 billion that House Democrats want to spend on highways, bridges and other job-creating investments is likely to be used before the end of fiscal 2010.\u2019 This is like the money we gave the banks that isn\u2019t being used. Now we\u2019re going to give money to fix the roads and bridges that isn\u2019t going to be used. ‘The CBO said the balance would likely be spent over the next several years, after the recession is projected to end.\u2019 But wait, but wait, but wait, I thought they told us that this money was going to be spent to end the recession. This is not the Wall Street Journal, this is CBO, Congressional Budget Office. Sometimes I really think I\u2019m sitting here — not most of you in this audience, please, we\u2019ve got stragglers out there, we have school teachers from Wisconsin that tune in now and then, we\u2019ve got liberal Democrats from Seattle and Washington and California, and I go through, and I spend a lot of time detailing this, and sometimes I think it\u2019s a waste of time. Here I\u2019m not even a journalist, and I am a thousand times more informed than most of them combined. Tom Brokaw, Jim VandeHei, John Harris, they say they don\u2019t know anything about Obama. I do! And I\u2019m the one that gets criticized. <\/p>\n

So for those of you waiting for Obama to get you your health care, to drive you to the hospital, to fill up your car, to get you your job, to get you your gift certificate at Walmart, now we\u2019re being told that over half the money isn\u2019t going to show up until after 2010 when the recession is over? By the way, I\u2019m going to tell you what, if he gets what he wants, there isn\u2019t going to be a recession in 2010. It\u2019s going to be a depression. So what we have here, this is a pork stimulus bill. Do you know who\u2019s really getting this money? Not those of you who want a lift to Walmart, not those of you who want your health care paid for, and not those of you who want to build roads and bridges. Congress is going to be able to give away this money to whoever they want to give it away to. You know what this is, 2010? Do you understand the date here? Half the money will not be spent until then? May I translate? Two-thousand-ten is an election year for every member of the House of Representatives, our good buddies. This money will not be spent \u2019til the end of 2010. Ladies and gentlemen, our beloved, we can\u2019t do without them, members of Congress, all run for reelection, and why, shazam, during that year, when they\u2019re running for reelection is when half of Obama\u2019s stimulus package is going to be spent buying their own reelections. (kissing sounds) <\/p>\n

Sadly, you and I in this audience are the only ones that understand this. I know how alone you feel, folks. I know how alone you feel and how frustrated you feel that so many of your fellow citizens are so stupid, or ignorant, even when they\u2019re told this. It doesn\u2019t compute and they don\u2019t want to hear it. But that\u2019s not all. ‘Republicans said the analysis shows that the package, which Democratic leaders drew up with top Obama aides to boost the ailing economy, wouldn\u2019t create the promised jobs. ‘Clearly, we\u2019re not talking about a stimulus bill,\u2019 said Virginia Rep. Eric Cantor.\u2019 We are talking about a pork reelection bill! And who says this? Again it\u2019s the Democrat controlled Congressional Budget Office. David Obey is scrambling to come up with something here, he said, ‘I happen to think CBO\u2019s estimate is off-the-wall, but we\u2019re trying to respond to it nonetheless.\u2019<\/p>\n

From the Washington Post: ‘Stimulus Projects May Be Slow, CBO Says.\u2019 This is the post now, echoing what the Wall Street Journal said. CBO confirms the complaints of Republicans. ‘The CBO analysis appears to confirm the complaints of many Republicans and other critics, who have long argued that spending money on highway construction and other infrastructure projects is ineffective at quickly jolting a sluggish economy.\u2019 We knew this before the election! The report was distributed to reporters yesterday by Mitch McConnell. ‘The report also suggests that the House measure would violate Obama\u2019s rules for the stimulus package; Obama aides have said they want the bulk of the spending to occur before 2011. Obama has pledged that the measure would save or create at least 3 million jobs over the next two years. … Still, the report from the CBO offers a stark assessment of some of the Democrats\u2019 top priorities. For example, of $30 billion in highway spending, less than $4 billion would occur over the next two years. Of $18.5 billion proposed for renewable energy, less than $3 billion would be spent by 2011. And of $14 billion for school construction, less than $7 billion would be spent in the first two years.\u2019<\/p>\n

It\u2019s never gonna get spent on this stuff, because as it is laying around unspent, guess who\u2019s gonna pick it up? People like Barney Frank are going to pick it up and start spending it on their own. Speaking of Barney Frank, this is from the Wall Street Journal: ‘Troubled OneUnited Bank in Boston didn\u2019t look much like a candidate for aid from the Treasury Department\u2019s bank bailout fund last fall. The Treasury had said it would give money only to healthy banks, to jump-start lending. But OneUnited had seen most of its capital evaporate. Moreover, it was under attack from its regulators for allegations of poor lending practices and executive-pay abuses, including owning a Porsche for its executives\u2019 use. Nonetheless, in December OneUnited got a $12 million injection from the Treasury\u2019s Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP. One apparent factor: the intercession of Rep. Barney Frank, the powerful head of the House Financial Services Committee. Mr. Frank, by his own account, wrote into the TARP bill a provision specifically aimed at helping this particular home-state bank. And later, he acknowledges, he spoke to regulators urging that OneUnited be considered for a cash injection.\u2019 So here we go, let the scandals begin. It does not take a rocket scientist to realize that when there is a government and a money grab, scandal and corruption are not far behind. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
