RUSH: I want to start on the phones in Hershey, Pennsylvania, with Carryn. Welcome, and it\u2019s great to have you here with us. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, you don\u2019t know how great it is to be with you. I was watching these hearings all morning at church, and I listened intently, and when I came home, I tell you what: I was so discouraged about, “Wow, maybe he is guilty.” But I thought, “I gotta get home, turn Rush Limbaugh on, and hear the truth.” I\u2019m so glad I did! You made it really sound sensible. (chuckles)<\/p>\n

\"\"RUSH: I need to ask you a question, Carryn. Did you really…? You\u2019re watching this today, and you really thought the Democrats had made the case and that Mueller was providing the agreement, the exclamation point that Trump was guilty of obstructing justice? You actually feared that that was the case watching this today?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Not totally, but they kept bringing up, “Well, all these things he did,” and I thought, “I don\u2019t believe he did all these things. I don\u2019t believe these people said all these things about him.” But they just sounded so convincing. Although I will say that Mueller did seem kind of out of it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Let me give you a different context in which to judge what you saw this morning, \u2019cause I really do want to try to correct this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Because the bottom line, Carryn: The Democrats, again, have tried to make a case out of something that didn\u2019t happen. They tried to do exactly what you said happened. You thought that they had created a new reality here where the president\u2019s guilty, but you knew watching today the president hadn\u2019t been charged.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: He was not guilty of collusion. You knew what the report says.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re watching this. So they had this task. They wanted to take a set of circumstances and act as though the president\u2019s guilty and the only reason nothing can be done about is because he\u2019s sitting in office, when he didn\u2019t do anything.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, you hear all these stories in the questions today. (sputtering) “Uh, Mr. Mueller, did Don McGahn want…? Did Trump tell McGahn to fire you and — and — and McGahn wouldn\u2019t do it? So Trump wanted to fire you, right? And — and — and McGahn refused?” It must have been five different questions, and you heard that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH:Well, let me give you a different context. Imagine, Carryn, that you\u2019re Donald Trump. You\u2019re sitting there in the Oval Office, and for 2-1\/2 years you\u2019ve had to put up with this garbage that you cheated, that you\u2019re a traitor, that you stole the election, that you colluded with one of America\u2019s enemies. And you know that you didn\u2019t!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

\"\"RUSH: You know that this is all bogus!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know this is all political!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wouldn\u2019t you be hell-bent to prove it? Wouldn\u2019t you be hell-bent to try to make people find out he didn\u2019t do it, that this didn\u2019t happen?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. (crosstalk)<\/p>\n

RUSH: And so you\u2019re sitting in there and you\u2019re watching this go on, and there\u2019s nothing you can do about it other than execute your constitutional duties and fire these people, but he knows that\u2019s not gonna stop the investigation.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So you\u2019ve gotta understand the sheer frustration. Imagine it\u2019s you! Imagine you, Carryn, in Hershey, Pennsylvania —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Mmm-hmm.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — are being charged with being a traitor, except you know you didn\u2019t do it. Are you just gonna sit there peacefully and trust that things are gonna work out, or you gonna be agitated and angry about it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, you know what? That\u2019s one of the things I love about our president, because he fights back, and they don\u2019t like the tweets he puts out there. But you know what he\u2019s thinking! I mean, you know he\u2019s sincere.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Bingo.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You know he\u2019s not speaking politically correct, and I just love him, and I praise God for you and I am just in love with him.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I would love to meet him and just throw my arms around him and give him a hug.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I guarantee you if you ever did meet him, Carryn, you would be thrilled because he would be exactly what you want him to be. There are no airs. There\u2019s no phoniness. He\u2019d be the genuine guy you know. If you met Trump, you would not have the reaction, “Gee, who\u2019s this guy? I don\u2019t know this guy.” You would be eminently pleased, and this is the greatest compliment I can give a famous person or celebrity: If you meet \u2019em, if they\u2019re exactly what you hope they are. They\u2019re genuine and so forth. That would be your reaction when you do meet Trump. I appreciate your thoughts. I\u2019m glad I was able to talk you off the ledge. Glad you tuned in here to have that happen. I want to get one more in before the hour ends.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, I gotta tell you, I am so glad these hearings happened because it\u2019s the last breath of a dying animal. I think after these hearings Trump will be soaring on princely wings. I think we also have to examine the fact that they could have had this at any moment, and I think they\u2019re trying to play two sides of it because it\u2019s happening in the summer. So if something comes about, they\u2019ll have their sound bites. If not, there\u2019s minimal viewership because it\u2019s happening during the summer and people are —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, no. Wait a minute. No, no. They\u2019re hoping to create the viewership. Oh, they hope this is watched by record numbers. That\u2019s what this is all about. They\u2019re choosing summer when supposedly nothing else is going on. Remember the Watergate hearings happened in the summer, and the Democrats think this is Watergate come again. They chose this time where it\u2019s a downtime and everything on TV ostensibly is reruns. Of course, they don\u2019t know that there aren\u2019t any reruns on Netflix or streaming. There\u2019s nothing…<\/p>\n

There\u2019s never a boring time on TV anymore, unless it\u2019s network TV where they do occasionally do some reruns or run these B, C, off-primetime series just to burn \u2019em. No, this was… They\u2019re trying to create the biggest audience that they possibly can for this, and they\u2019re still hoping. The Schiff committee hearings are just now beginning, and I guarantee you — I guarantee you — they\u2019re gonna rework it so that Mueller only has to answer yes or no this afternoon. Every question from the Democrats gonna be a leading question. “Yes” or “no” is all he\u2019ll say.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thanks, Rush. It\u2019s a total thrill to speak you. Listen, I\u2019m not buying this Mr. Magoo routine. Do you remember Rosa Lopez from the OJ Simpson case, Ms. No Recuerdo, Senor?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Rosa Lopez from the OJ Simpson case?<\/p>\n

CALLER: (crosstalk)<\/p>\n

RUSH: No. I don\u2019t. I don\u2019t remember Rosa Lopez.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, she kept saying, “No Recuerdo, Senor,” when she was on the stand and being asked all the questions. He\u2019s saying that things are outside of his purview? I think the only thing outside of his purview is the truth. I don\u2019t think his Mr. Magoo. (giggles) I think he certainly knows about —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Who said that he was Mr. Magoo? He doesn\u2019t look like Mr. Magoo!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, you\u2019re saying he doesn\u2019t really know what\u2019s going on. I think what he\u2019s doing is he\u2019s giving the staffers and the media the page numbers and the paragraphs because the only time he perks up is when (crosstalk).<\/p>\n

RUSH: No. They are giving him the page numbers. It just happened again.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (crosstalk)<\/p>\n

RUSH: There\u2019s a Democrat asking him questions, and Mueller\u2019s refusing to answer, and the Democrats is saying, “It\u2019s right here in the report, sir.”<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. I think it\u2019s all stage dress. I think he\u2019s stonewalling, but I don\u2019t think he\u2019s confused.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. So now let me ask: Do you think this is helping the Democrats today?<\/p>\n

CALLER: For the people who already believe this, sure! They\u2019re just… You know, they\u2019re getting them all re-stirred up.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, but that\u2019s not the objective. The objective… The Democrats are trying to get Mueller to trigger an impeachment. Pelosi doesn\u2019t want it. The American people, in the latest polling data — more than ever — don\u2019t want impeachment. Fox News poll 49% of the American people say there\u2019s nothing that could happen today that would change their opinion of this story. These guys in their committees want Mueller to say they have to go get Trump because he legally can\u2019t.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, Rush. Hey, listen. I think in an effort to salvage something out of this mess I think you\u2019re gonna see the Democrats now attack Mueller, cast him aside as a doddering old fool — possibly senile, could not have led a solid investigation into the president, probably missed a lot of things — and because of that, we need another investigation by somebody competent.<\/p>\n
