RUSH: You know, I want to go back to this DHS, homeland security report on the ‘right-wing extremists\u2019 and the dangers that they pose to the Obama administration and the United States of America, because I thought… There\u2019s a portion of this thing that looked familiar to me. By the way, as I point out yesterday, this is not from Janet Napolitano. This DHS report that maligns and impugns conservatives as ‘right-wing extremists\u2019 is straight from Obama. It\u2019s straight from his heart. It\u2019s straight from his head. It is precisely how he views anybody who opposes him, and I think I can illustrate that here. Here\u2019s the part of the report that looked familiar to me, that rang bells, that raised red flags: <\/p>\n

The Department of Homeland Security ‘Office of Intelligence and Analysis found no specific information that domestic right-wing terrorists are currently planning acts of violence, but right-wing extremists may be gaining new recruits by playing on fears about several emergent issues: the economic downturn, the election of the first African-American president present unique drivers for right-wing radicalization recruitment.\u2019 They also mentioned ‘immigration\u2019 in this. Now, this sounds to me very close to something Obama said during the campaign, and it was at that San Francisco fundraiser about the bitter clingers. Let\u2019s review that. Here\u2019s what he said: ‘But the truth is, our challenge is to get people persuaded we can make progress when there\u2019s not evidence of that in their daily lives. <\/p>\n

‘You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing\u2019s replaced them — and they fell through the Clinton administration, the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are going to regenerate, and they haven\u2019t. So it\u2019s not surprising, then, that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren\u2019t like them, or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.\u2019 Well, that\u2019s… You talk about a foundation? That is an excellent foundation upon which this DHS report on right-wing extremists could be built: bitter clingers, angry, people don\u2019t look like they do, immigration, anti-trade. <\/p>\n

So don\u2019t think this is Janet Napolitano, folks. This is Barack Obama. The White House, by the way — let me find it here, because it\u2019s somewhat comical out there. This is from the Washington Times today. ‘The White House has distanced itself from the homeland security analysis. When asked for comment on its contents, White House spokesman Nick Shapiro said the following: ‘The president has focused not on politics but rather taking the steps necessary to protect all Americans from the threat of violence and terrorism regardless of its origins. He also believes those who serve represent the best in this country,” meaning the military, ”and he\u2019ll continue to ensure that our veterans receive the respect and benefits they have earned.” <\/p>\n

Now, how in the name of Sam Hill does the president of the United States get away with distancing himself from his own administration? The White House distanced itself from the analysis? It\u2019s the Department of Homeland Security. He put Janet Napolitano in there. Janet Napolitano is a Janet Reno, and this guy gets to distance it? He comes out, and the White House says, ‘Hey, he\u2019s distancing himself from his own administration.\u2019 ‘Well, I didn\u2019t know that.\u2019 It\u2019s just like the call we had, ‘If only Obama knew! If only Obama had known that this was going to be reported. He loves veterans.\u2019 That\u2019s the only thing about it he didn\u2019t correct. ‘I love veterans! They\u2019re going to continue to be covered.\u2019 If only Obama knew… Just like the foreclosure thing, Snerdley, once these people start getting foreclosed on, people that believed Obama said it wouldn\u2019t happen. ‘I\u2019m sure Obama doesn\u2019t know. This is the evil banks. This is the evil banks, and Obama didn\u2019t know about it.\u2019 But yet he\u2019s in control. He\u2019s in charge. He provides the vision. This man is in charge of change and hope and he\u2019s got everything under control. He\u2019s competent, he\u2019s elegant. But he doesn\u2019t know what\u2019s going on in his own Department of Homeland Security. Ha! <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Rabbi Harris in Detroit. Rabbi, nice to have you on the program, sir. Welcome to the EIB Network.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Dittos, Rush, and, you know, I just had lunch.<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing) I haven\u2019t.<\/p>\n

CALLER: By the grace of God I\u2019ll keep it down. But a couple things. The first thing, and this is what I told Snerdley, is that I guess these guys cannot decide whether we\u2019re just an insignificant little fringe that\u2019s not a blip on the radar, or whether we\u2019re the biggest threat to this country since the other Janet, Janet Reno, had to send troops into Waco. I guess they can\u2019t decide, what are we? Are we nothing, or are we this terrible threat?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, it depends on the perception, depends on who you\u2019re asking. I think the Obama administration, the American left, Democrat Party, looks at these things as a genuine threat. I mean, the dream of the Obama administration was to have everybody lemming-like following along because of the eloquence and the brilliance of Obama and so forth. It isn\u2019t happening. This is spontaneous, this is real, ordinary Americans rising up. So regardless the numbers here, this is something the administration has to take serious. And the media is, too. You can tell the way the media is reacting to them. The media is trying to play it down as no big deal, or impugning the people involved. It represents a serious threat to these people that\u2019s going to have to be swatted down.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Apparently so. I\u2019m on page four of this Homeland Security report. My wife wisely said that I should print it out so that nobody could accuse us of just fabricating this or just hearsay or whatever. I\u2019m on page four. And so far, they\u2019ve included everything from those who oppose abortion, to those who — in here it says anti-government — I\u2019m on page four — anti-government conspiracy theories and end-time prophecies. Okay, so let\u2019s see, now we\u2019re targeting evangelical Christians, anybody who\u2019s pro-life, and, you know, it\u2019s stunning —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Don\u2019t wait. You have yet to run across people who are opposed to — they say in the report — immigration. It\u2019s not immigration. It\u2019s illegal immigration that people are opposed to. Every image of a conservative is covered in this report. You\u2019ll see it, Rabbi, as you read it, and they\u2019re characterized as right-wing extremists, even returning personnel from Afghanistan and Iraq. They even quote later in the report, you\u2019ll see it, Timothy McVeigh.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, it shows the dishonesty of language that I consider to be characteristic of the left. They\u2019ll talk about immigration when what we\u2019re talking about is illegal immigration. They\u2019ll talk about stem cell research when what we\u2019re talking about is embryonic stem cell research. It\u2019s a dearth of honesty on the left, and —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Let me tell you something. I want to take you back to 1995, April 24th of \u201995. This is not new in terms of how the left attempts to demonize average, ordinary Americans. This is Bill Clinton on the Oklahoma City bombing.<\/p>\n

CLINTON: We hear so many loud and angry voices in America today whose sole goal seems to be to try to keep some people as paranoid at possible and the rest of us all torn up and upset with each other. They spread hate. They leave the impression that by their very words that violence is acceptable. You ought to see, I\u2019m sure you are now seeing the reports of some things that are regularly said over the airwaves in America today. It is time we all stood up and spoke against that kind of reckless speech and behavior.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That was in Minneapolis, President Clinton, and that\u2019s the famous sound bite where President Clinton attempted to blame me and talk radio for inciting hatred and anti-government sentiment that led Timothy McVeigh and his band of wackos to blow up the Oklahoma City building, the Murrah building. So the efforts here of the Obama administration to mischaracterize the people in the DHS report that you\u2019re reading and at the tea parties today is standard operating procedure for the Democrat Party.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Which is why this should be seen as Clinton administration number two at work. By the way, my wife and I are going to be going to our local tea party over in Troy, Michigan, and I found a really good quote —<\/p>\n
