<\/p>\nRUSH: We\u2019re gonna go to the audio sound bites here and Meet the Press, since I have been touting these things.\u00a0 Meet the Press decided to follow in the footsteps of CNN.\u00a0 They ventured outside Washington to go talk to Americans who don\u2019t live in Washington.<\/p>\n
So they got their shots, they got visas and passports, and they went out there. They went to Minnesota, they went to New Hampshire, and they went to South Carolina. They were hoping and expecting to encounter throngs of people that hate Trump and want him gone, want him impeached, want him thrown out.\u00a0 The responses they got were not what they were expecting and clearly disappointing to the Democrats.\u00a0 Up first is F. Chuck Todd introducing and playing a montage of voters talking about their view of impeachment…<\/p>\n

TODD:\u00a0 We went out and tried to find some voters, guys (pause), to talk about impeachment, and we had to bring it up to them.\u00a0 Here\u2019s what they told us…<\/p>\n
RUSH:\u00a0 Stop the tape!\u00a0 Stop!\u00a0 Stop!\u00a0 Stop!\u00a0 And recue it.\u00a0 He kind of threw that off.\u00a0 “We had to bring it up to them.”\u00a0 They weren\u2019t talking about it.\u00a0 See, what F. Chuck and his gang were thinking? Remember their attitudes about themselves.\u00a0 They run Washington and the country.\u00a0 So here they are, they venture out to Minnesota, South Carolina, New Hampshire, and they think that when people see the NBC microphone\/the NBC truck, that these people are gonna immediately come up to \u2019em and start talking about how much they hate Trump.<\/p>\n
That didn\u2019t happen.<\/p>\n
F. Chuck just told us they had to bring it up to people.\u00a0 They had to ask people because people were not talking about it on their own.<\/p>\n

GRAY:\u00a0 I think we have a system of checks and balances.\u00a0 And the way it should work is that, you know, the House and the Senate should do what is set out in the Constitution.<\/p>\n
TRACY:\u00a0 I\u2019ve read the document, and there was absolutely nothing concerning to me from president to another.\u00a0 It was absolutely appropriate.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Can you imagine F. Chuck? “You read the…? You — you read the transcript?\u00a0 We haven\u2019t released it.\u00a0 Where\u2019d you get it?”\u00a0 F. Chuck probably can\u2019t believe these people had the wherewithal to go find it on their own.\u00a0 Why, these people probably know the name of the whistleblower, too, even though NBC hasn\u2019t announced it.\u00a0 Now, remember, NBC set out, and they wanted to find people bloodthirsty with revenge for Trump.<\/p>\n
They wanted to find people who couldn\u2019t wait to tell them how excited they were about the prospect of getting rid of Trump.\u00a0 They couldn\u2019t find any.\u00a0 Yeah, this first guy\u2019s name was Jim.\u00a0 “I think it\u2019s a waste of time. They\u2019re a bunch of little kids fightin\u2019 and not accomplishing what it hell they\u2019re elected for.”\u00a0 Ooh.\u00a0 Gray (this was somebody from New Hampshire) said, “Well, I think we have a system of checks and balances.\u00a0 The way it should work is House and Senate should do what\u2019s set out in the Constitution.”<\/p>\n
Meaning this guy instinctively knows that what Schiff and Pelosi are doing is not constitutional in the sense that it\u2019s not bipartisan. And then Tracy, South Carolina. “I read the document,” meaning transcript “nothing concerning to me from one president to another. It was absolutely appropriate.” Oh, they\u2019re stunned. Next is Helene Cooper from the New York Times who was on the panel who heard that sound bite and was in a state of panic.<\/p>\n
COOPER: Yeah. Yeah, they are. But I wonder who are all the voters that you\u2019re talking to \u2018cause I\u2019m so inundated. Everybody, whenever anybody finds out I\u2019m a reporter, all they want to ask me about is impeachment and what\u2019s going to happen. So, it\u2019s like — I just wonder at just, you know, you could\u2019ve gotten like, ten other people saying something completely different.<\/p>\n

RUSH: See? Classic. Her world is filled with nothing but people who want Trump impeached. Well, what\u2019s her world? New York, Washington. Everywhere I go, I\u2019m inundated, people want to talk to me about impeachment, that\u2019s all people want to talk about. So who are these people? We don\u2019t know who these people are. See, she\u2019s like Pauline Kael back in New York, 1972, Nixon\u2019s elected and she can\u2019t believe it \u2019cause she doesn\u2019t know anybody who voted for Nixon.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow could he have been elected? I don\u2019t know anybody who voted for him.\u201d As though it\u2019s not possible. If I don\u2019t know anybody that voted for him, nobody did.<\/p>\n
Helene Cooper, New York Times, totally, totally unaware there are people that don\u2019t favor impeachment, and when she hears from them, instinctively she thinks they\u2019re oddballs, kooks, weirdos, and there has to be some explanation. Here now Tom Brokaw on the roundtable on Meet the Press.<\/p>\n
BROKAW: I think with all of this communication that we have going on now, Chuck, the gap between who we are, where we work and what we have to say and the rest of the country — in North Dakota, they\u2019re a lot more worried about soybeans than they are about all of this, I can tell you. About the weather and what prices they\u2019re going to get for it. That\u2019s what drives them on a daily basis.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Oh! That didn\u2019t drive during Nixon. So now we have in addition to John Kasich telling CNN that nobody\u2019s talking about it in Ohio, Tom Brokaw said nobody is talking about it in South Dakota, they\u2019re talking about soybeans. What NBC found was that nobody\u2019s talking about it anywhere they went. They had to bring it up!<\/p>\n

And Brokaw says: \u201cI think with all this communication we have going on now, Chuck, the gap between who we are, where we work, and what we have to say and the rest of the country \u2013” Brokaw he was essentially admitting, we live in a bubble here, and we hang around with everybody else in the bubble, and we don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on out there, we haven\u2019t the slightest idea what\u2019s going on out there.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s also true. But there\u2019s one other thing. They don\u2019t really care. This is my whole point about what we have been discussing about public opinion. If they\u2019ve got 51% of the people want Trump impeached, it shouldn\u2019t be that hard to find people would have agreed with the prospect in that poll. That\u2019s half the country, right, that\u2019s what they\u2019re telling us, half the country wants him gone. Well, if that\u2019s the case no matter where you go it shouldn\u2019t have been hard to find somebody.<\/p>\n
Do you think NBC couldn\u2019t find anybody? Couldn\u2019t even make it up? Folks, this illusion that they are creating is even bigger and deeper than you can possibly imagine. And when they get confronted with the reality of it, all it does is tell them they\u2019ve got their work cut out. So we gotta do even more to manipulate public opinion, we gotta do even more to get these people to see the light. So we\u2019ll do more polls. We\u2019ll try to convince them that they\u2019re really oddballs and weirdos if they don\u2019t want Trump impeached, and that\u2019s how they\u2019ll play it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Just real quick, I thought it was interesting — I watch the Today show, I listen to you, I watch Chuck, I watch Meet the Press — but I thought it was interesting when Savannah this morning was like, \u201cWhy does he want to know who this whistleblower is?\u201d Like, well, of course he wants to know because it\u2019s all just a put-on. It\u2019s obvious. We all get it.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Wait. Hold it a minute. Savannah Guthrie said she didn\u2019t know why everybody wanted to know who the guy is?<\/p>\n
CALLER: No, what she said is why does Trump want to know who the whistleblower is? She didn\u2019t get it.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, do you believe that? Do you believe that? Do you believe she really doesn\u2019t know why Trump would want to know who the guy is?<\/p>\n
CALLER: I don\u2019t know because they\u2019re all —<\/p>\n
RUSH: Do you think she is that ignorant?<\/p>\n
CALLER: No. She can\u2019t be.<\/p>\n
RUSH: That\u2019s right! This guy\u2019s the prime accuser they\u2019re using to destroy him, and she doesn\u2019t know why Trump would want to know who he is?<\/p>\n
CALLER: But we get it out here. The polls, all this stuff doesn\u2019t mean anything to us. We get it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know you do. And I am extremely confident of that. Look, folks, I\u2019m trying to think of another example of somebody else that expressed curiosity why Trump would want to — oh! Some infobabe on CNN, \u201cWhy does he call her Fauxcahontas?\u201d Do you not know she\u2019s a fake Indian? Do you not know she lied about being a high cheekboned Indian to get a teaching gig at Harvard? Do you not know this, infobabe? \u201cWhy does he make fun of her? Why does he call her Pocahontas?\u201d So I think it\u2019s entirely possible that Savannah Guthrie doesn\u2019t get it.
