RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, I want you to temper your enthusiasm. Those of you who have heard that Henry Waxman pulled the health care bill from the Energy and Commerce markup today, this is a very, very dangerous time right now. What this means is that Nancy Pelosi has pulled the bill, the Energy and Commerce Committee Democrats are going up to the White House this afternoon to be lobbied by Obama. They\u2019re going to be working with the White House to make another run at health care. It is not dead. We need to be on our toes. They\u2019re going to regroup. They are going to pretend to be addressing the public\u2019s concerns. They\u2019ll up the lies, they will up the rhetoric. <\/p>\n

This is a very dangerous time. There was a lot of euphoria this morning when the markup committee just gave up, when Waxman pulled it. Boehner went out there and said, (muttering) — they never go away, folks. They never go away. We\u2019ve got some great sound bites here of health care fiascos at town meetings involving Obama administration officials. Reserve, Louisiana, is one place. We\u2019re loaded here today with stuff like this. Greetings. It\u2019s great to have you with us. Two days in a row. Obama moments away from another televised appearance on health care. USA Today\/Gallup poll shows huge dangers for Obama. <\/p>\n

He is tracking lower than Jimmy Carter. In the Gallup poll, USA Today\u2019s website, you can see Obama compared to other presidents since polls were started in the forties, he\u2019s tenth. He\u2019s the tenth most popular president since polls were taken at this stage in his administration. The Drive-Bys, State-Run Media is appalled, they\u2019re out there making all kinds of excuses for this, ‘It\u2019s natural; he\u2019s taking on big things; it\u2019s only natural that gravity would assert itself here.\u2019 So big health care day coming up today, and again, the Energy and Commerce Committee will try again tomorrow to start marking up the health care bill. They\u2019re going up to the White House today to be lobbied by Obama, which means Rahm Emanuel is going to be there with a loaded gun. We\u2019ll just have to wait and see. This is not a time to start thinking victory. This is a time to keep mounting up even more heat. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: I really believe Obama is showing some instability, folks. He\u2019s becoming a little unhinged. The poll numbers are falling. His trust numbers are falling. They\u2019re very low. Nothing is happening as they envisioned in the White House. The power of his personality and his essence, his being, is not enough to get them over the hump here. There\u2019s fallout on this health care business all over the country. For the second day in a row Obama is going on TV — he\u2019s late; he was supposed to be up there six minutes ago, probably a teleprompter problem — and he\u2019s gonna make a big push. Now, there was a markup session today in the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Waxman\u2019s committee, to mark up the House version of the health care bill that fell apart. They don\u2019t have the votes to pass it right now. So Obama is going to bring all these people up to the White House this afternoon to lobby them. <\/p>\n

That means Rahm Emanuel is going to be in the room with a loaded gun. But, folks, this really is a very dangerous times. I would not be surprised… Obama will make any deal he can to get this done. They\u2019ll say, ‘Okay, we\u2019ve heard you. We\u2019re not going to tax health care benefits. We\u2019re not going to raise taxes on the rich to pay for it. We\u2019re not going to do any of that. We\u2019ve heard you. You\u2019ll be able to keep your health insurance,\u2019 blah, blah, blah, blah, all these lies — and then once they get a bill done and get their foot in the door all that promise that they made is out the door. These people think that we don\u2019t know who they are? They will do and say anything to get this bill because it\u2019s not about health care. Right now what this is about is saving the Obama presidency. Jim DeMint was right. If he doesn\u2019t get this, he\u2019s done. This is his signature thing. He can come back for it next session, next year. <\/p>\n

They\u2019ll keep coming back. But, remember, Clinton tried once, didn\u2019t get it, and the same thing is happening this time that happened back then: People are reading the bill. Not the people in Congress who are going to vote on it, but people are reading the bill and they\u2019re finding out what\u2019s in it. I\u2019ll tell you, the thing to feel optimistic about here is that with no votes in the House or Senate, this has been brought to a screeching halt. For now. It\u2019s not over, and they\u2019re never, ever going to go away. They\u2019re never, ever going to give up on this, but it\u2019s a testament to the role that the New Media is playing on this. Who is informing all of these people who are opposed? The mainstream media is not informing them. The State-Run Media is not telling them what\u2019s in health care. Many of the conservative intelligentsia inside the Beltway are not telling them what\u2019s in the bill. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s us, folks. It\u2019s us in talk radio. It is us on the Internet, the blogs and so forth. We\u2019re doing the heavy lifting on this. In fact, about this, there\u2019s a funny column today by David Brooks in the New York Times: ‘Liberal Suicide March,\u2019 and Brooks\u2019 point is that the liberals — just like conservatives, just like Republicans — have overreached. They have overstepped. He says, ‘It was interesting to watch the Republican Party lose touch with America. You had a party led by conservative Southerners who neither understood nor sympathized with moderates or representatives from swing districts. … It\u2019s not that interesting to watch the Democrats lose touch with America. That\u2019s because the plotline is exactly the same. The party is led by insular liberals from big cities and the coasts, who neither understand nor sympathize with moderates. <\/p>\n

‘They have their own cherry-picking pollsters, their own media and activist cocoon, their own…\u2019 David Brooks\u2019 column today credits the Blue Dog Democrats for putting the brakes on the fast track to Obama care. Now, as you know Mr. Brooks — and I mention that because it\u2019s somewhat funny — wait \u2019til you hear one of the closing paragraphs in this piece coming up in just a second. But David Brooks is obsessed with attacking conservatives and conservatism, especially talk radio. So his column today is interesting for only one reason. He shows how wrong and clueless he and his ilk are. The reason that the brakes have been put on is not the Blue Dog Democrats! He is so desirous of crediting people that he thinks are like him: the moderates. The moderates, the Blue Dog Democrats. The moderates, they\u2019re the ones that have brought this to a screeching halt. <\/p>\n

That\u2019s BS. I and my fellow colleagues in talk radio have spent months exposing the defects, the dangers of national health care. We have given voice to the studies and the reports analyzing the massive costs and dislocations and loss of freedom it\u2019ll cause. David Brooks hasn\u2019t done that, none of his ilk have told anybody what\u2019s in the bill. He\u2019s just standing around watching from the sidelines and doing anything now to credit ‘moderates\u2019 for stopping this. We, on the other hand, have discussed with our audiences day after day after day, despite the best efforts of the Drive-By Media to deliver national health care to Obama and his party — and from right now the brakes are on, and they are in a state of disarray. Obama is showing signs of being unhinged and signs of instability. Now, this is the nature of talk radio, it\u2019s the nature of democracy, and it\u2019s been rejected time and again by the intelligentsia in the conservative movement of the Republican Party. <\/p>\n

They attack our voices and our philosophy and so forth. So we get this blather from Brooks today who blithely asserts that the Democrats have overreached, that they are insulated, but what he cannot bring himself to be is honest. The reason the public is reacting as they are is because they are informed. They are not stupid. They have avenues for information they would not otherwise have but for talk radio and the Internet and some more mainstream outlets. Mr. Brooks has not been a participant in informing people of just how horrendous this Obama health care plan is. He\u2019s content to sit there and write today that they\u2019ve ‘overreached.\u2019 Oh, it\u2019s fun to watch everybody overreach. The Republicans did it and now the Democrats are doing it because everybody ignores the moderates. Look at this. Snerdley, I want you to listen to this. This is actually funny. <\/p>\n

‘That leaves matters in the hands of the Blue Dog Democrats. These brave moderates are trying to restrain the fiscal explosion. But moderates inherently lack seniority (they are from swing districts). They are usually bought off by leadership at the end of the day.\u2019 Brave moderates? Mr. Brooks, first, who do you think is putting pressure on these so-called brave moderates? They are fearful, Mr. Brooks! They are fearful of their voters. Their voters are more conservative than most of them and certainly more conservative than Obama. I don\u2019t care where you go inside the DC Beltway; other than talk radio there and some other place, you are not going to find any media that actually informs anybody on anything. As I said yesterday, most of the media spending time talking about, ‘Is Obama going to win or is Obama going to lose? Are the Republicans gonna lose? How badly are the Republicans going to lose? It\u2019s horrible.\u2019<\/p>\n

No details! No details at all on the literal destruction of the US economy. All we get are ‘brave moderates.\u2019 Now, I\u2019m not doing this, I\u2019m not making this point to give myself credit. As you know, I don\u2019t need the credit. Everybody knows the facts about this radio program. The point of all this is to reinforce with all of you that your steady opposition and your letting your representatives know is what is working. And it\u2019s a very dangerous time, because the Democrats and Obama know the trouble that they\u2019re in. This is his signature issue. They\u2019re going to get this one way or the other by stealth or right out in the open, and I fully expect them to come out and lie about it. <\/p>\n

‘Well, okay. We\u2019ve heard the objections. We\u2019ll make changes here and changes there,\u2019 and once they get the bill and they get it over to the Senate and the commerce committee goes behind closed doors starts adding things to it (like the amnesty bill) and before long we get a bill that we don\u2019t know what\u2019s in it. That\u2019s why we have to continue to focus on what we know that\u2019s in this current House bill and continue to tell people this is what their ultimate objective is. This is what they want, regardless what\u2019s said from this day forward after this markup failure today — and there\u2019s always tomorrow to come back to the markup. So this is an attempt by me to keep people inspired and motivated rather than on the sidelines and analyzing it, the brave moderates! The brave moderates? (laughing) By definition, moderates can\u2019t be brave! They don\u2019t have opinions. (interruption) Dawn doesn\u2019t like me saying things like that. But, I mean, brave moderates?
