RUSH: Barack Obama is voting present on Afghanistan. He\u2019s not a senator from Illinois anymore. Forty thousand troops is what the general wants and Obama, I don\u2019t know, I got my left-wing base to worry about. So put Afghanistan off to the side. Remember, Afghanistan is all they talked about during the Iraq war, ‘We gotta go in, get Osama. We can\u2019t have success \u2019til we get Osama. We gotta take \u2019em out in Afghanistan.\u2019 So we\u2019re in Afghanistan, Obama owns the policy and he\u2019s putting it on the back burner for climate change. <\/p>\n

Get this. The president of the United States actually said the United States has done more to reduce carbon pollution in the last eight months than at any time in history. Now, folks, this is a perfect illustration of how Obama is lying to you about everything else. We haven\u2019t reduced carbon emissions diddly-squat except for whatever reduced driving and consumption there is because of his recession, because of his high unemployment. But there has been not one government policy that has reduced one carbon emission from any footprint, from any body orifice, from any cow fart, it has not happened. Some people express dismay that I would use such language. Folks, that\u2019s mild compared to what you hear the president talk about. For crying out loud, let\u2019s get real here. Now, so he says he\u2019s done more, we\u2019ve done more, and he\u2019s telling the world this. ‘We gotta all work together to reduce the carbon footprint.\u2019 Even the New York Times today reports that temperatures have stagnated for the past decade, they haven\u2019t gone up and they may even be getting cooler and it may have to do with the fact that there are no sunspots. <\/p>\n

In fact, I read a chilling thing the other day. I read Tuesday Morning Quarterback on the ESPN Page Two every Tuesday afternoon when it comes out, Gregg Easterbrook, and, you know, his brother is a judge, Frank Easterbrook in Chicago, I think he\u2019s an appellate judge. Brilliant family, but Gregg\u2019s a little bit of an environmentalist wacko at some points, but still is a brilliant guy. He\u2019s very much into astronomy. In every Tuesday Morning Quarterback piece he\u2019s got some long dissertation on astronomy. And he said there\u2019s really something to panic about out there, no sunspots could mean that we are on the verge of the sun dying. Now, that\u2019s something to be genuinely frightened about, if astronomers — and we\u2019re in a very, very weird sunspot cycle. There aren\u2019t any, and the sun is the major factor in whether we\u2019re warm or cold, and can you imagine the panic if the sun went out? I mean we\u2019d have about a week, maybe a month, and that\u2019s it. We don\u2019t have any spaceships ready to take anybody to Mars. He said that\u2019s something to genuinely be frightened of, but that\u2019s down the road. I\u2019m not trying to hype anybody up about that. <\/p>\n

But back to this statement, Obama says the US has done more to reduce carbon pollution in the last eight months than at any time in history. The last eight months happens to coincide with his immaculation, with his presidency. But there hasn\u2019t been one policy, we haven\u2019t done diddly-squat. There are no reduced carbon emissions. Just like we\u2019ve never had a greater stimulus plan than what I\u2019ve got now, our economy is coming back from the brink of disaster. The health care reform, we gotta fix it, we\u2019re on the verge, everything the man says is a lie, and this is the greatest illustration of it and this perhaps is the one that\u2019s the most understandable because all the other stuff is a bit esoteric. Obama can say, ‘Well, the economy is coming back,\u2019 and some people can say, ‘Okay, he says so, and I\u2019m looking at stadiums, football games, baseball games, a lot of people there, must be okay.\u2019 But this one, this one is easily understandable as a flat-out PR lie, because people have said, ‘What have we done?\u2019<\/p>\n

If we\u2019ve done more to reduce carbon emissions in the last eight months than any time in our history then we don\u2019t need cap and tax, do we? We don\u2019t need the stupid legislation if it\u2019s happening by our own initiative, our own volition. We don\u2019t need to do anything additional. He wasn\u2019t through. He had to keep piling on. He said, ‘It\u2019s possible to reverse the tide of climate change, but time is running out.\u2019 Now we\u2019ve got that full-blown idiot, Prince Charles, suggesting that everybody get rid of their cars. He has eight. But everybody get rid of their cars. Planners, developers need to plan cities and communities where the primary hub is a mass transit thing, be it train or bus and everybody gets where they\u2019re going to go, get rid of cars. The Froot Loops nutcases, the absolute wackos that are in charge of the environmentalist movement — and they\u2019re in charge of much else in the Obama administration as well — are just illustrating it for everybody, one and all, to see just how ridiculous everything in this agenda is. Let\u2019s go to the audio sound bites. This morning in New York City, United Nations Climate Change Summit, we got three Obama bites. Here\u2019s the first one.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: The threat from climate change is serious. It is urgent. And it is grown.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, it\u2019s not.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: Our generation\u2019s response to this challenge will be judged by history.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, it won\u2019t.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: For if we fail to meet it bodily, swiftly, and together, we risk consigning future generations to an irreversible catastrophe.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Every policy item, every agenda is a crisis, life-threatening. It\u2019s like the Jerry Lewis telethon. ‘Look at that poor child, won\u2019t you do something? (crying) He\u2019s going to die unless you do something! How can you sit here and watch this telethon and not give!\u2019 That\u2019s the Obama administration. We\u2019re all going to die. We\u2019re going to die if we don\u2019t do health reform. We\u2019re going to die if we don\u2019t do climate change. We\u2019re going to die if we don\u2019t do cap and tax. We\u2019re going to die if we don\u2019t do whatever. Never ends. Here\u2019s the next little clip.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: We cannot meet this challenge unless all the largest emitters of greenhouse gas pollution act together. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Tell the ChiComs.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: There\u2019s no other way. We must also energize our efforts to put underdeveloping nations, especially the poorest and most vulnerable, on a path to sustained growth. We have a responsibility to provide the financial and technical assistance needed to help these nations adapt to the impacts of climate change and pursue low carbon development.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They already have low carbon development. They live in sewers, like your father\u2019s village where your brother lives in the hut, where your step-grandmother is the first person in town to have water and electricity actually run to her multi-hut compound. You go to these places that are underdeveloped like that, and they have a low carbon footprint. There is no progress. But they live in squalor. We must also energize our efforts to put underdeveloping nations, the poorest and most vulnerable on a path to sustainable growth. Why don\u2019t you show us how? Why don\u2019t you show us how using your father\u2019s village over there in Kenya? Here\u2019s the next little clip.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: Our planet\u2019s future depends on a global commitment to permanently reduce greenhouse gas pollution.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: We know that if we put the right rules and incentives in place —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, yeah.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: — we will unleash the creative power of our best scientists and engineers and entrepreneurs to build a better world.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, right. Okay. So our planet\u2019s future depends on a global commitment to permanently reduce greenhouse gases. We know that if we put the right rules and incentives — this guy wants to run everything. They got a big problem selling this, folks, because the New York Times, unbelievable: ‘As UN Meets on Climate, Momentum Is Elusive,\u2019 is the headline. Here\u2019s the nut of the story: ‘The world leaders who are meeting at the United Nations to discuss climate change on Tuesday are faced with an intricate challenge: building momentum for an international climate treaty at a time when global temperatures have been stable for a decade and may even drop in the next few years. The plateau in temperatures has been seized upon by skeptics as evidence that the threat of global warming is overblown. And some climate experts worry that it could hamper treaty negotiations and slow the progress of legislation to curb carbon dioxide emissions in the United States. Scientists say the last decade of climate stability — which follows a precipitous rise in average global temperatures in the 1990s — is a result of cyclical variations in ocean conditions and has no bearing on the long-term warming effects of greenhouse gases building up in the atmosphere.\u2019 Of course not. Of course not. Ten years, why, it doesn\u2019t mean anything, everybody understands that. <\/p>\n

Oh, yeah, it\u2019s just a temporary weirdo cycle the oceans are going through, not to mention the sunspot activity, but those are just temporary. We are destroying our planet nevertheless. The evidence is all there. Well, no, the evidence isn\u2019t all that but we\u2019re supposed to ignore that. The way these people are overreaching encourages me, and this statement that we\u2019ve done more to reduce carbon pollution in the last eight months than at any time in history, there\u2019s only one way that\u2019s true, and it is if you want to give credit to Obama for destroying the US economy. And let that be your lesson as to how to reduce carbon emissions. You destroy economic growth. You reduce it and this is what they have in mind. <\/p>\n

Let me read to you the Reuters wire. ‘Obama cannot address climate change unless world\u2019s biggest nations cooperate. Obama says developing nations must do their part in reducing CO2, Obama says to work with G20 to phase out subsidies for fossil fuel use. Obama says US has done more to reduce carbon pollution in the last,\u2019 blah, blah, ‘Obama says if world does not address climate change,\u2019 then, 10:07, Obama farts. That is a live Reuters wire. Twelve bulletins in two minutes on what Obama said at the climate thing. It\u2019s desperation, desperation on patrol. And as I say, meanwhile, Afghanistan lurks. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: This afternoon, New York City at the UN, Fox News reporter Eric Shawn interviewed the Bolivian President Evo Morales. He asked him, ‘What do you think of President Obama?\u2019<\/p>\n

MORALES: President Obama acts like any other president who is part of the UN. Regardless of this debate about climate change, he has good observations but no solutions. We are convinced if we are to save humanity, it is important to save the planet Earth. What hurts this planet is capitalism.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, there you have it. And this is one of Obama\u2019s buddies. What hurts this planet is capitalism. What hurts this planet is the unequal distribution of capitalism. Not enough nations have capitalism. That\u2019s what hurts the world.
