CALLER: Hey, Rush, it\u2019s good to talk to you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: All right. I just wanted to call today just to thank you for actually inspiring me to become a US government teacher in high school.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I did?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, you did. I had always grown up interested in politics, and I loved Reagan when I was a kid. When I was 16 my parents, for Christmas, they got me See, I Told You So. And it kind of changed my life.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That was my second book.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Following The Way Things Ought to Be. Well, that\u2019s great. Do they let you teach the truth in your school?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, see, I have two semesters left before I get my license, sir, so I\u2019m not there yet but I\u2019m working towards that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Ahhh.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m teaching the truth no matter what.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right. It will be interesting to see when you get your certificate and you get out there and get a job in a school if they will actually let you teach the truth about American history.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. You know, I figure the way you and how your book and your explanation of — you know, you take US government and some things that can be really difficult for lots of people to understand, which is obvious to see that, and, you know, you break it down and make it really accessible, make it entertaining and fun and I thought I can do that, too. You know, I think kids today, they need somebody to break that stuff down and say, you know, it can be fun to learn about this stuff and it don\u2019t have to be —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Exactly right. Making the complex understandable is probably one of the best descriptions of this program and if you can take something complex and make it understandable for people you inspire them to want to learn more about it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly. You did the same for me so I appreciate it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, congratulations to you. That\u2019s fabulous. I wish you all the best and I hope you love it as much as you think you\u2019re going to.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hello, Rush. It\u2019s an honor to be able to talk with you after all these years of listening and just share some of my thoughts with you. My statement is there seem to be a number of Democrats based on the town hall meetings, et cetera, who do not agree with the direction that Congress is taking on the health care bill. And typically the politicians feel that they can do what they want and the voters have a short memory. But people can vote right now. It\u2019s a very simple thing, especially when there\u2019s no primaries coming up, and that is, Democrats who don\u2019t like it can get control of their party by going in and changing their registration. They can change it to independent, they can change it to Republican, doesn\u2019t matter, they can always be loyal Democrats later. Right now they need to get control of their party.<\/line><\/line>RUSH: Yeah. You might say the Republicans have to do the same thing. We conservatives have to do the same thing. There\u2019s a movement building out there, I sense it, folks, for third party. It will be the end of us if we do that, it will be just more Democrat victory after Democrat victory after Democrat victory. Last night Leno asked me if I liked somebody for president and I was reaching for a cup that had ice water in it, I said, ‘Yeah, me.\u2019 Audience laughed. Somebody after the show as I\u2019m walking out, ‘Will you really run?\u2019 ‘No, no, no, no.\u2019 But if I did, I said, I\u2019d do it as a Democrat. Why? Why would you want to as a Democrat? Because they couldn\u2019t run any negative commercials about me. Democrats don\u2019t get criticized for anything. I mean I could probably drive a woman off a bridge in a car, if I were a Democrat, and get elected. So, the fact that I invented the word ‘feminazi,\u2019 they couldn\u2019t criticize me because I\u2019m a Democrat. I couldn\u2019t be held accountable to anything. It\u2019s an interesting concept, is it not?<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. How are you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you very much. I\u2019m great.<\/p>\n

CALLER: All right. I want to know about your weight and are you exercising, and are you walking on your treadmill? How are you doing?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m doing fine. I haven\u2019t been on the treadmill since Monday morning.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Uh-huh.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I flew out to Los Angeles Monday afternoon. I\u2019m going to get on the treadmill when I get home this afternoon.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Don\u2019t you feel better after you do that? Sometimes you don\u2019t really want to do it but you gotta push yourself. Don\u2019t you feel better after you\u2019ve worked out about 30 minutes?<\/p>\n

RUSH: No. I hate it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) You feel better when it\u2019s over, though?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Look, there is a feeling of accomplishment.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s right. It\u2019s called self-discipline, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes. Punishment, too.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But there are things in life that we all must do that we don\u2019t like to do. Now, I\u2019m very fortunate. I have reached a position, I\u2019m not kidding. I can\u2019t tell you how fortunate I think I am, how blessed I think I am. I\u2019ve gotten to the point in life where I don\u2019t have to do very much of anything I don\u2019t want to do.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But you do have to keep the talk radio going, that\u2019s for sure.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I love that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m not talking about that. I\u2019m saying if I don\u2019t want to go make a speech, I don\u2019t have to do it. <\/p>\n

CALLER: I want to ask you about one other thing, too.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well I haven\u2019t answered your other questions yet.<\/p>\n

CALLER: All right, go ahead, I\u2019m afraid you\u2019ll hang up before I finish.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, no, no. I\u2019m still doing the treadmill. I didn\u2019t gain any weight when I was in Los Angeles. Did you see me on Leno last night? WGN Chicago called me skinny!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh wow, that\u2019s wonderful.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah!<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s wonderful.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right. I frankly thought I looked thin. The TV did not add five pounds or fifteen pounds to me last night, I guarantee you. Maybe it\u2019s because of high definition, but I don\u2019t know. All right —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh well.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — next question.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay, next question. I heard you say the other day about taking your cochlear implant out, and you were afraid you may oversleep, right?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay. I have a friend who\u2019s deaf, and I\u2019m sure you know about all the things that you can buy to make yourself wake up. You can buy the lights that will flash in your face on the alarm clock, you can buy the vibrator that will make your bed shake and wake you up.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know. I could get a timer and the lights come on. I should do that. But I haven\u2019t done it. I did try one of those vibrating things you put under the pillow. I didn\u2019t feel it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, really?<\/p>\n

RUSH: So I\u2019m not sure it even went off.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing.)<\/p>\n

RUSH: But the light thing, yeah, you\u2019re right, I ought to do the light thing.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You should.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Because light wakes me up. The first moment that there is sunlight I\u2019m up —<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Light wakes me up like that. (snapping fingers)<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I want you to get one. You don\u2019t need to be late and you don\u2019t need to have to depend on somebody to wake you up.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, now, sometimes that\u2019s not bad.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right, depending on who. (laughing) All right, thanks for taking my call. We love your show. I listen to you every day.<\/p>\n

Republicans and people like yourself are so predictable because you guys have played this same play before with the Democratic Party and with Clinton when he tried to go after the terrorists and you guys said that he was trying to take the heat off of him during the Monica Lewinsky thing. And now when the H1N1 comes out you guys use the same playbook with President Obama, and you say he\u2019s trying to take the heat off of what he trying to do with health care. You guys are so predictable. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a second, now.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I think it\u2019s just disgusting.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a second, Bobby. May well be disgusting but it\u2019s not me saying that. I have never said that they\u2019re hyping N1H1 to get health care. What I\u2019ve said was that they\u2019re hyping N1H1 for government power. They want more government. They are trying to scare people. But he\u2019s not trying to distract anybody from health care, Bobby, he won\u2019t shut up about it! What in the hell are you listening to? You think that Obama\u2019s trying to distract from health care? God, I wish he would! I wish he\u2019d stop talking, period! He\u2019s on television all the time. Distract from it? He will not shut up about it, Bobby! You are the first person to call me ‘disgusting\u2019 today, too. That\u2019s upsetting.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay, you were talking about media and I\u2019m going back to the media blitz of last weekend. Why is it that Obama didn\u2019t appear on Oprah? He seemed to wanna be everywhere but no name has been mentioned by Oprah. Now she\u2019s gone to Europe with Ms. Obama to try to bring summer Olympics here to Chicago. And I\u2019m wondering how this might all play into things.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I did not know that The Oprah was traveling to — where\u2019s she going? Going to Europe?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Europe.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Going to Europe with Mrs. Obama.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. I think I heard that on Hannity the other night.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m not denying it. Not denying it. It\u2019s just that until I know it it\u2019s not true, is the only point.<\/p>\n
