Thank you.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Well, the point I wanted to bring up is the Republicans are overlooking a very powerful tool in their arsenal. We can shut this madness down immediately, and that\u2019s just simply to not authorize the debt limit to be raised. That would shut down deficit spending, it would shut down government.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Yeah, but that\u2019s not the way we want to do it. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Well, I personally would definitely like to do it that way, but other people may have different opinions.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/01125115.Par.89380.ImageFile.jpg\" width=\"280\" height=\"263\" class=\"alignright\"\/>RUSH: The problem with that politically is you don\u2019t have a majority of people who don\u2019t want the government to function. There is not a majority of people who want the government to shut down and cease operating. There is a majority of people who think it\u2019s out of control and way too big. The minute the debt ceiling doesn\u2019t get funded and everything stops and the benefit checks cease, that\u2019s the end of the Republican Party being able to reform and revise any of this. There are ways to go about this. Reducing the role of government, the shock value and the symbolic value of not raising the debt ceiling, I mean it\u2019s tempting, I understand how you feel about it, but it has to be done with some political calculation as well. Besides I don\u2019t think they have the votes to stop it. It\u2019s a budget item. They don\u2019t have the votes to stop it from happening anyway. <\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not trying to pour cold water on this idea. I\u2019m just saying that that would be the fastest way for the regime to revive all this, &#8216;Ah, the Republicans don\u2019t care about anybody, they don\u2019t want the government to help you, they don\u2019t want you getting your benefits.\u2019 With ten percent unemployment it would shut down people\u2019s lifeline. This is going to be a long, slow process reversing this. It\u2019s going to require some education. You\u2019re looking at me like you disagree with me, Snerdley. Snerdley, would you just not approve the debt ceiling? Is that what you would do? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So he\u2019s frowning at a caller, not at me. He\u2019s agreeing that I\u2019m absolutely right about this.
