Go ahead, Steve.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Yes. I see that a vast majority of Arizona citizens are in support of our governor and the immigration bill, but the Suns organization seemed to make a political move &#8212; which is, again, symbolism over substance &#8212; by changing their jerseys on Cinco De Mayo to &#8216;Los Suns\u2019 instead of just &#8216;Suns.\u2019 That is a little Spanish translation, that means The Suns. I mean, if they wanted all the way they would have &#8216;Los Soles.\u2019 What\u2019s your opinion, Rush?<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Phoenix Suns basketball team. Well, you want to know what my opinion is? I think professional sports needs to man up. You\u2019ve got the &#8216;Reverend\u2019 Jackson demanding that Bud Selig cancel an All-Star Game in Arizona because of the immigration law. Al Sharpton\u2019s on the way. Now you\u2019ve got the owner of the Phoenix Suns running around saying, &#8216;We\u2019re not going to do this!\u2019 You got a bunch of liberal sportswriters suggesting the D-Backs, the baseball team be boycotted wherever they go. I think sports needs to man up.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: How is that, Rush?<\/p>\n<div id=\"zype_606786908e652c00019c462e\"><\/div>\n<p><script src=\"https:\/\/player.zype.com\/embed\/606786908e652c00019c462e.js?api_key=6yUf3WZePk78GtpC3BXdZSqZ5ma_gYmV_rEJ8OYJZ0wq3AlDKM2RFnOcBN0xiMco&#038;controls=true\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Get liberalism out of it! For crying out loud, take a look: 70% of the people of Arizona support the law. Does professional sports want to be associated siding with illegals, lawbreakers?<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: See, but they\u2019re uneducated. They\u2019re misguided. They haven\u2019t even read the law.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: I don\u2019t care. Ignorance is no excuse to me. If they haven\u2019t read the law, if they don\u2019t know what this is about now, they never will, with this much attention be paid to it. I mean, what do they really think is going to happen? I\u2019ll give you the perfect analogy. This is no different than the Republicans supporting amnesty back in 2007 because they don\u2019t want to offend anybody, and they hope to get these votes. So you have the ownership of the Phoenix Suns, the &#8216;Los Suns,\u2019 and whoever, &#8216;We don\u2019t want to offend a portion of our fan base. We don\u2019t want to appear to be politically correct. We want to appear to be all inclusive and so forth.\u2019 Well, fine and dandy but what happens when that contributes to the overall deterioration of the culture of the society? I just think it\u2019s cowardice. I\u2019m sorry. I think it\u2019s cowardice, pure and simple.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Thanks, Rush.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/01125113.Par.4584.ImageFile.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"206\"><\/section>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: You bet. We have a sound bite. I have a sound bite here. Steve Nash, a great player for the Phoenix Suns, and he was on ESPN. I thought, by the way, ESPN was not for politics. Something happened some years ago that, I don\u2019t know, that made me think that politics and ESPN are kind of like water and oil in the Gulf of Mexico: They just don\u2019t mix. But Steve Nash was on ESPN\u2019s Pardon the Interruption with the famous nuclear and d political analyst Tony Kornheiser. Kornheiser said to Steve Nash, &#8216;A lot of athletes try to steer clear of politics. You seem to be embracing it. Do you speak for the whole team, do you think, or just for yourself on this Los Suns thing?\u2019<\/p>\n<p>NASH: I can never speak for the whole team, but our owner asked us if any of us had a problem wearing the jerseys, and nobody did. So I think w<\/p>\n<p>e\u2019re pretty like-minded on this issue. This league is very multicultural. We have people from all over the world. Myself, obviously, being a foreigner and many of my teammates. Players on the other team. Our communities are very multicultural. so I think we have to, obviously, find a different way to combat the issues that we face in our society, and I think that this is the wrong way to go about it.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: To enforce American law. Well, you know, to me this is extremely sad and shortsighted. It sounds wonderfully thoughtful. It sounds wonderfully compassionate. Okay, so there are some&#8230; Like Ozzie Guillen, the manager of the Chicago White Sox, from Venezuela, said he will not go and participate in the All-Star Game as a manager or coach if it\u2019s in Arizona. Well, okay. So we\u2019re supposed to change everything. We\u2019re supposed to deal with American law by reacting to what Ozzie Guillen of the Chicago White Sox says? No. If he doesn\u2019t like it let him not go. Don\u2019t go! Fine and dandy. Don\u2019t go. It\u2019s fine if you don\u2019t want to go but we\u2019re not going to change federal law or state law just so you can show up at an All-Star Game. This is an interesting thing about the intersection of politics and sports, which I thought was not supposed to happen. But it obviously is.<\/p>\n<p>The bottom line here is it\u2019s just cowardice that\u2019s running this: Cowardice disguised as supremacy, cowardice disguised as &#8216;I\u2019m better than you,\u2019 cowardice disguised as &#8216;I\u2019m more open-minded than you,\u2019 cowardice disguised as, &#8216;Uh, uh, I\u2019m more worldly than you are. I &#8212; I &#8212; I\u2019m a better person. I\u2019m more tolerant than you are.\u2019 It\u2019s j<\/p>\n<p>BREAK TRANSCRIPTust cowardice, pure and simple &#8212; and if it isn\u2019t cowardice, it\u2019s pure ideology. Nothing other than political liberalism that\u2019s guiding the opinions on this, which is common and okay in politics, but tell us that. You know, don\u2019t give us this superior, &#8216;I\u2019m better than you are,\u2019 multicultural garbage. Just tell us you\u2019re a liberal, you disagree with the law, and you don\u2019t think that the jerseys ought to say Suns because it offends you. Don\u2019t hide behind holier-than-thou, you\u2019re-better-than-everybody-else stuff. Thing about liberals, they just can\u2019t be honest about who they are. They have to always denigrate everybody else. &#8216;Well, we have to wear these Los Suns jerseys because there are so many racists in our state, we have to battle it.\u2019 Sorry. It doesn\u2019t fly here on the EIB Network.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: I really thought, my experience with the St. Louis Rams was that sports cannot be politicized. Ozzie Guillen and all these other people, if you don\u2019t like playing in the United States, if you don\u2019t like playing in Arizona, go back and play for Hugo Chavez and try to make the millions of dollars there that you make here. You notice how they\u2019re all for diversity as long as everybody thinks alike. Liberals love diversity as long as everybody thinks the same thing.<\/p>\n<p>Here is Steve from parts unknown in west Texas. I think that if the Phoenix Suns are so into this, why don\u2019t we give amnesty to all the fans, free tickets, free T-shirts, all of the concessions are free, the beer, everything, and, you know, go whole hog on it.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: You left out parking.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Well, parking as well, whatever, like I said, if they want to grant amnesty to these people, by golly &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: On Cinco De Mayo, amnesty for everybody that wants to come to the game until the seats are filled. In fact, the Phoenix Suns should also, on this one day, drop the requirement that people have to present their papers to get in, no tickets. No tickets to get in, just want to watch the game, get in, no papers necessary.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: I think that would be a great idea.
