RUSH: From Bloomberg.com — remember what we said yesterday, you are judged by the strength of your enemies — ‘Obama, Limbaugh Focus on ‘Los Suns\u2019 Jerseys in NBA Playoffs. President Barack Obama spotlighted the decision by Phoenix to wear ‘Los Suns\u2019 jerseys in a National Basketball Association playoff game. Conservative talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh accused the team of ‘cowardice.” Phoenix happened to win. So the media\u2019s all excited because they think the Suns stuck it to me. Let\u2019s go to the audio sound bites. Willie Geist this morning on MessNBC.GEIST: Rush Limbaugh called it an act of cowardice, pure and simple. Here they are last night, wearing the uniforms. A lot of support from the home fans there. And the jerseys worked, apparently. They lead the series two-nothing.RUSH: Yeah, it had nothing to do with how well the Suns players played. The Los Suns jerseys had an effect on the victory. And then here from Bloomberg TV\u2019s In the Loop the sports anchor, Michele Steele.STEELE: The Suns play basketball and politics that had to do with Arizona\u2019s controversial new immigration law, in fact. Steve Nash and his teammates wore jerseys that said ‘Los Suns.\u2019 The team\u2019s owners saying the team wore the jerseys to celebrate diversity and to protest the new immigration bill. Believe it or not, Rush Limbaugh did not like it, calling it ‘cowardice, pure and simple.\u2019 Phoenix won the game and took a two-games-to-none lead against the Spurs.<\/p>\n

\"\"RUSH: That\u2019s not why I didn\u2019t like it. I, of course, yeah, I did say it was cowardice, the team is buckling here to a bunch of PC pressure. What I said was, look, don\u2019t tell us this is all high-minded. Tell us you\u2019re doing this \u2019cause you\u2019re a bunch of liberals. Tell us that you\u2019re wearing these jerseys \u2019cause you\u2019re a bunch of liberals and you want to side with a certain political point of view here. Don\u2019t try to tell us you\u2019re all high-minded, better people than we are, that you\u2019re more compassionate, more understanding. Just tell us you\u2019re liberals and you\u2019re following your political beliefs. Just do it. Have some guts. The cowardice was hiding behind PC. What I want to know is did they give everybody who attended the game amnesty? What would be the equivalent? Not having to give a ticket, not having to show papers. Let everybody in free. No parking charges, no concessions charges, and no papers required, no ticket. I mean if you\u2019re going to go all the way let\u2019s go all the way, not just halfway. And then here\u2019s Obama. Cinco De Mayo speech yesterday in Washington, a small portion of it.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: I know that a lot of you would rather be watching tonight\u2019s game, the Spurs against Los Suns from Phoenix.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right on, right on, right on, right on. The President of the United States here siding against the American people. And yesterday, this is White House Rose Garden, Cinco De Mayo, the president distorting the Arizona law and ripping it to shreds again.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: The answer isn\u2019t to undermine fundamental principles that define us as a nation. We can\u2019t start singling out people because of who they look like or how they talk or how they dress. We can\u2019t turn law-abiding American citizens and law-abiding immigrants into subjects of suspicion and abuse. We can\u2019t divide the American people that way. That\u2019s not the answer. That\u2019s not who we are as the United States of America. And that\u2019s why I\u2019ve instructed my administration to closely monitor the new law in Arizona, to examine the civil rights and other implications that it may have.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So once again we have the race card being thrown down. We can\u2019t divide the American people that way. Of course, who is dividing America? It\u2019s Obama, with comments like this. ‘The answer isn\u2019t to undermine fundamental principles that define us as a nation. We can\u2019t start singling out people because of who they look like.\u2019 You know, I predicted that he would almost say this exact thing three or four weeks ago. I said he\u2019s going to go out there he\u2019s going to say, (impersonating Obama) ‘There\u2019s some people that don\u2019t like the color of your skin, don\u2019t like the way you look, don\u2019t think you should be American.\u2019 He did it! He did it yesterday! ‘We can\u2019t start singling out people because of how they look –‘ we\u2019re not! We\u2019re looking at people who are legal versus illegal. ‘We can\u2019t turn law-abiding American citizens and law-abiding immigrants into subjects of suspicion and abuse.\u2019 We\u2019re not. We\u2019re not turning law-abiding immigrants into subjects of suspicion and abuse. Totally distorting this law, still doing it. And he wasn\u2019t through.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: I was pleased to see a strong proposal for comprehensive reform presented in the Senate last week, and I was pleased that it was based on a bipartisan framework. I want to begin work this year, and I want Democrats and Republicans to work with me because we\u2019ve gotta stay true to who we are, a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants.<\/p>\n

\"\"RUSH: So he wants the bill, he wants the amnesty bill, he wants it. He wants their votes. Cynicism. Cynicism is not found here, the cynicism is not found in the hearts and minds of the American people. The cynicism is found at the highest levels of our government from the White House on down.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Do you know…? I bet I\u2019m going to shock a lot of you people with this next bit of information. Do you know that Cinco De Mayo is not a Mexican holiday? Do you know that Cinco De Mayo is not Mexico\u2019s Independence Day? Cinco De Mayo is not even a real holiday in Mexico. Cinco De Mayo was created by Corona beer to promote beer sales in the US and around the world. They don\u2019t even get the day off in Mexico for Cinco De Mayo. We\u2019ve turned it into a holiday here that has pure political purposes for the American left. Cinco De Mayo was a minor battle during a time when the French were invading Mexico — and you know that has to be a long time ago; the French don\u2019t invade anybody, they surrender now. Mexican Independence Day is September the 16th.<\/p>\n

What Cinco De Mayo actually commemorates is the victory of the Mexican army over the French empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862 during the French invasion of Mexico. I know this sounds very strange, ‘The French invasion of Mexico,\u2019 but they did try it. So… (interruption) Well, no, it\u2019s not religious. But I\u2019m sitting here, I\u2019m watching all of this. Obama is just all about dividing the American people by race and by class. We are a nation of legal immigrants. Look at how he\u2019s trying to distort what is happening in Arizona. Here\u2019s something else from his Cinco De Mayo speech yesterday: ‘We gather to mark a day we come and celebrate here in the United States as it is in Mexico.\u2019 It isn\u2019t celebrated in Mexico! They don\u2019t even get the day off in Mexico on Cinco De Mayo. So here we have Obama who doesn\u2019t even believe in ‘separating people because of their race,\u2019 and he then proceeded to introduce every member of his cabinet who even had one drop of Latino blood in their veins.<\/p>\n

He did not come to unify.<\/p>\n

He has come to divide.<\/p>\n

And he\u2019s doing a good job of it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t want to replay the sound bite, but Obama said in his Cinco De Mayo speech yesterday, ‘I want to say it again just in case anybody\u2019s confused: The way to fix our broken immigration system is through commonsense, comprehensive immigration reform.\u2019 What that means is: The way to fix illegal immigration is to legalize it. That\u2019s what that means. ‘Commonsense, comprehensive immigration reform\u2019 is amnesty. We\u2019ve tried it once; it didn\u2019t work. It led us to where we are today. So fixing illegal immigration is to legalize it. So can we extrapolate from that that the way to fix our drug problem is to legalize drugs? Do you know that Mexico has legalized drugs? I want you to think about that for just a second because we\u2019re told by the drug legalization advocates here — such as legalize marijuana or legalize heroin or cocaine or whatever — that it will take the crime out of it and we can tax it, and we can raise revenue for the precious government.<\/p>\n

\"\"‘And people are gonna get drugs anyway, Rush, just like they\u2019re going to get sex anyway. We can\u2019t stop these kids; they\u2019re going to do it. There\u2019s no point in teaching abstinence. So we just legalize it.\u2019 Okay. Mexico has legalized drugs. If Mexico has legalized drugs, and if legalizing drugs ‘takes the crime out of it,\u2019 then what the hell is going on in Arizona? Why the hell are there Mexican drug gangs anywhere if they have legalized drugs? And they have. I ain\u2019t lying to you. They\u2019ve legalized drugs. There ought not be drug gangs. The only drug gangs ought to be the government and their tax enforcers taxing the sale and use of the stuff, right? Because that\u2019s the benefit from it. So legalizing drugs hasn\u2019t worked in Mexico yet Obama says: ‘The way to fix our broken immigration system is through commonsense comprehensive immigration reform,\u2019 which he means is to legalize it. Okay, let\u2019s keep going. Prostitution. (chuckles) Eliot Spitzer, anybody?<\/p>\n

We still don\u2019t know — if you read the papers on Eliot Spitzer Client No. 9 you still don\u2019t know — he\u2019s a Democrat after all these years. Is the way to fix prostitution to legalize it? I mean, this is where the left is taking us. Legalize all the deviants, legalize all of the things we know are culturally destructive. Let me take it even further. Let\u2019s go to the health care bill. When millions of people fail to buy insurance like Obamacare mandates, will the solution be just to do away with the law? Well, why not? We have illegal immigration. The immigrants are failing to abide by the law. They\u2019re being aided by people like the Phoenix Suns and Obama and anybody else who wants to encourage lawbreaking and lawlessness. So when people don\u2019t buy health insurance as mandated by Obamacare, should we just do away with the law?<\/p>\n

Ha-ha! You think we\u2019re going to do away with the law? No, we\u2019re going to enforce the law that Obama wants to enforce. Absolutely. When the rich don\u2019t pay their ‘fair share\u2019 in taxes, according to Obama, should we just do away with the tax laws? I mean, where does this stop? If we\u2019re going to look at lawlessness and say, ‘You know what? The way to fix this is just get rid of the law.\u2019 All right, fine. You don\u2019t like the fact that you can\u2019t turn your lights on in the summertime on the beach, \u2019cause of turtles? Fine, ignore it. Get rid of the law or the ordinance. Mexico legalized… Snerdley\u2019s eyes are bugging. He doesn\u2019t believe Mexico legalized everything. They legalized marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, LSD, heroin. Everything is legal. Why in the hell are there drug gangs in Mexico? Why is what\u2019s happening in Arizona happening?<\/p>\n

‘Well, Mr. Limbaugh, the legalization of drugs while some people on my side of the aisle might relish it and love it, would certainly lead to the destruction of our culture and would promote the wanton worthlessness of many citizens.\u2019 Oh, okay, fine, Mr. Castrati. So what happens if we then legalize illegal immigrants and they come… ‘That\u2019s a different thing! These people just want a better life, Mr. Limbaugh. They\u2019re seeking a much better life than they can have in their native countries.\u2019 Fine. What about the people in this country who will be harmed by it just like people who would be harmed by the legalization of drugs? ‘Mr. Limbaugh, you\u2019re missing the point. This is a matter of compassion, and people wanting to improve their lives.\u2019<\/p>\n

\"\"No, it\u2019s not. At some point, if we\u2019re going to say that the solution to a problem brought about by the existence of a law is to get rid of the law, then apply that to every other law. We can\u2019t stop bank robbery, can we? Let\u2019s just make it legal to rob banks. People want a better life but people don\u2019t have enough money. You ought to see some of the signs that are being carried in these protesting marches last Saturday. I\u2019ll have to dig one outta here. I threw it away because I didn\u2019t think I\u2019d have any practical application for this. Somebody\u2019s carrying a sign, and I don\u2019t know where. It looks like it\u2019s Los Angeles, but I can\u2019t tell. But it says, ‘We want free house! We want job! We want no taxes! America owes us this and we\u2019re going to keep attacking and killing the police in Arizona until you give us this.\u2019 Basically it\u2019s what the sign says. Now that I\u2019ve told you that, let\u2019s go to the audio sound bites, number eight, May the 2nd, Danbury, Connecticut, New Hope Baptist Church, the Reverend Sharpton delivered a sermon.<\/p>\n

SHARPTON: So many of us act as though the struggle for social justice and the struggle for rights is over, don\u2019t realize that the struggle is not over until we achieve equality. Someone said to me the other day, ‘Reverend Sharpton, we\u2019ve got an African-American president. We\u2019ve achieved the dream of Dr. King,\u2019 and I told them, that was not Dr. King\u2019s dream. He\u2019s a great man. I\u2019ve been working with the president and supporting the president. But the dream was not to put one black family in the White House.<\/p>\n

FOLLOWERS: Yeah! Right!<\/p>\n

SHARPTON: The dream was to make everything equal in everybody\u2019s house.<\/p>\n

FOLLOWERS: (applause)<\/p>\n

SHARPTON: President Obama being in the White House can help us get there, but we not there yet.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So, I guess President Obama has not ended the race business. I remember so many people calling here before the election, ‘Rush, don\u2019t you think the election of Obama would actually help solve some of the racial problems and discord in the country?\u2019 ‘No, it\u2019s only going to make it worse,\u2019 I warned and I said. So now here is the Reverend Sharpton: ‘We have to all be equal. The dream was to make everything equal in everybody\u2019s house.\u2019 Is that what Martin Luther King stood for? That\u2019s not what Martin Luther King stood for. Make everything equal in everybody\u2019s house? So everybody should have one of everything? No, no, no. Where does it stop okay you go to Pier 1 you get everything in there then you go to Macy\u2019s you get everything in there then you go to Walmart and get everything there, and everybody should have one of everything in their house and until that happens — like if I have a 25-foot high definition screen, we\u2019re not equal \u2019til Sharpton has one that I pay for? So they have the sign: ‘We want a free house. We want jobs. No taxes. America owes us this. We\u2019re going to keep attacking police in Arizona until we get it.\u2019 That\u2019s a sign.
