CALLER: Hi, Rush. I paid the ultimate price for being conservative. My own mother has disowned me.<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing) You what?<\/p>\n

CALLER: My mother told me two weeks ago that if I did not stop being a conservative, she would have nothing to do with me, and she has not talked to me since.<\/p>\n

RUSH: How old, George, are you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I just turned 58. She\u2019s 92. She\u2019s an archetypical, left-wing, New Deal Democrat who thinks Obama walks on water.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And she throws you under the bus, she disowns you at age 58?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yep. She also blamed me personally for the war in Iraq, said that I told George Bush to go to Iraq.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, uhhh… That makes it sound like dear old mom is in and out of reality.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I don\u2019t know, but she also said — you know, she just surgery — ‘It\u2019s because Democrats want surgery,\u2019 and I said, ‘Would you rather me be a poor Democrat or a rich Republican one day?\u2019 and there was silence there. But it infuriates her that I refuse to be a Democrat.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Have you…? Uh, are you going to get her a Mother\u2019s Day present since she\u2019s —<\/p>\n

CALLER: No!<\/p>\n

RUSH: Awwww. Now, you gotta be bigger than this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, the problem is, you see… (sigh) Anything I do is… I called her up and it immediately went to politics and we can\u2019t even talk. It\u2019s just…<\/p>\n

RUSH: This is amazing because I thought people like your mom defined tolerance —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hehh!<\/p>\n

RUSH: — and understanding and love and so forth. So your own mother says unless you change your ideology, she wants nothing to do with you. You ought to try sending her some ProFlowers.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I\u2019ve thought about it, but I\u2019ve even had people say that I\u2019m ‘a traitor to my class\u2019 — which is what people said to FDR if I remember correctly — because I\u2019m not a Democrat.<\/p>\n

RUSH: A traitor to your class?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I don\u2019t make a lot of money. I\u2019ve been sick for two years. I had (garbled) —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Ohhhh, I get it. <\/p>\n

CALLER: …acitis. <\/p>\n

RUSH: I get it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And so because I\u2019m poor at the moment, I should be a Democrat rather than strive to make money and get out of where I am.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I understand. I wish I had more time. Sadly, the constraints of the programming format require me to say good-bye, and thank you very much. But what an amazing thing!<\/p>\n
