RUSH: Obama is criticizing the Arizona immigration law, bringing in Se&ntilde;or Wences, Felipe Calderon, from Mexico to act as a ventriloquist puppet to mouth the identical criticisms of the Arizona law. Getting a standing ovation from the Democrats in the House of Representatives, as Se&ntilde;or Wences spoke to a joint session of Congress. The president has constantly increased the Arizona law, and now he\u2019s asking our so-called allies and friends to do it. He has not once spoken to the governor of Arizona, Jan Brewer — not once! — and yet Obama tells us, and she\u2019s tried. As the saying goes, ‘She has reached out.\u2019 She has reached out to various members of the Obama administration, reached out to the former governor, ‘Big Sis,\u2019 Janet Napolitano. She can\u2019t get a call back! Nobody in the administration will talk to the governor of Arizona. <\/p>\n

Yet Obama tells us he has an open mind; that we must listen to opposing views. He told some graduates somewhere, maybe it was Ann Arbor (doing impression), ‘If listen to Rush Limbaugh, uhhhh, try reading the Huffington Post! If you listen to Glenn Beck, whyyyy, try reading TIME Magazine.\u2019 But he will not open his mind to any countervailing opinion. He doesn\u2019t ‘reach out,\u2019 as he asks us to do. He doesn\u2019t listen to the other side. Speaking of Arizona, Se&ntilde;or Wences went up there was criticizing our core values and criticizing the state of Arizona, mischaracterizing our law, worrying about profiling — ‘raz-ial pro-FI-ling\u2019 and ‘discrimination.\u2019 Shouldn\u2019t the Congress out of respect for Mr. Calderon\u2019s superior morality immediately adopt Mexico\u2019s laws on illegal aliens word-for-word? Because he came here to criticize ours! <\/p>\n

Se&ntilde;or Wences comes here to criticize ours. Should we not, as a show of respect, acknowledge his moral superiority on this and adopt Mexico\u2019s laws on immigration? By the way, the cities that are boycotting Arizona, will you boycott Mexico? Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa of LA and Mayor Gavin Newsom of San Francisco: You are actively urging boycotts of city officials and any kind of activity, economic activity from occurring in Arizona. You\u2019re prohibiting city employees from San Francisco and Los Angeles from going to Arizona. Well, Mexico has Draconian immigration laws — and you talk about mistreating illegal aliens? You go down and you try to be an illegal immigrant in Mexico and see what happens to you. Shouldn\u2019t Mayor Villaraigosa and shouldn\u2019t Mayor Newsom and all these other namby-pamby leftists jumping on the boycott Arizona bandwagon, shouldn\u2019t they not also boycott Mexico?<\/p>\n

Because Mexico is far more Draconian. Mexico is far, far more egregious in human rights violations. Will Mayor Villaraigosa cancel ‘sister city\u2019 relationship with Mexican towns that so many of them currently enjoy? Los Angeles? One of the Los Angeles sister cities is Mexico City. Now, of course all these questions are just facetious, folks. But the bottom line is Mexico is far more Draconian. They mistreat illegal aliens. We don\u2019t even hold a candle! They\u2019re boycotting the wrong place. Now, we go to the audio sound bites. The governor of Arizona is responding to Se&ntilde;or Wences. She was on last night with Greta Van Susteren on the Fox News Channel. Van Susteren said, ‘We had a visitor on Capitol Hill today. [Se&ntilde;or Wences] of Mexico was here. He had words before the Congress. He said this about your new statute in Arizona. He said that he ‘strongly disagrees with the recently adopted law in Arizona. It\u2019s a law that not only ignores the reality that cannot be erased by decree but also it\u2019s a terrible idea using racial profiling as a basis for law enforcement.\u2019 What do you say to that?\u2019 This is Jan Brewer, the governor of Arizona.<\/p>\n

BREWER: I think that\u2019s really unfortunate. I don\u2019t believe he understands what the law actually says. You know, I don\u2019t mean that derogatorily, but the fact of the matter is is that it prohibits racial profiling. It\u2019s illegal in the state of Arizona, and racial profiling is illegal in the United States.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Governor Brewer, it doesn\u2019t matter what he understands. It doesn\u2019t matter if he understands it or not. He was given orders to go out and mouth the words of the regime. That\u2019s the price he had to pay for having a state dinner in his honor. If he doesn\u2019t understand it or he does understand it doesn\u2019t matter. It was not Se&ntilde;or Wences speaking. It was Se&ntilde;or Wences speaking the words of Barack Obama to try to add impact to and put more pressure on you, Governor Brewer. Van Susteren says, ‘Well, yesterday President Obama speaking with President [Se&ntilde;or Wences] said that he didn\u2019t say that the statute called for racial profiling but he described it as having the potential for that probability. He refers to it as ‘misguided.\u2019 What do you say to the president of [the regime]?\u2019<\/p>\n

BREWER: I just keep questioning the fact of the continuation of misleading, I believe, the American public on the facts. It\u2019s very clear, it\u2019s been in federal law for decades, and it\u2019s something that we implemented in here to use as another tool to get our borders secured — and if it was illegal or it was racial profiling here in the state of Arizona, it would then have been illegal and racial profiling decades ago for the United States.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So she\u2019s being generous. She\u2019s being overly kind to Obama. She doesn\u2019t say that he doesn\u2019t understand it. She says he\u2019s ‘misleading people,\u2019 which is exactly right. The truth is he\u2019s lying about it! She\u2019s been trying to get hold of him. She\u2019s been trying to get hold of anybody in Washington to listen to her. Van Susteren said, ‘Governor, what do you need? Do you need help? Is there anything we can do for you?\u2019<\/p>\n

BREWER: We are out here on the battlefield getting the impact of all this illegal immigration, and all the crime that comes with it, and no one… We have, I have repeatedly, sent letters to the administration and to the president of the United States with absolutely no response. And I just can\u2019t understand for the life of me when 70% of the American public agrees with Arizona that no one is taking any action. No one is calling us. We have borders for a reason. A nation without borders is like a house without walls. It collapses. We need help, Mr. President.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And her plea falls on deaf ears. Byron York, Washington Examiner today: ‘When President Obama discussed the new Arizona immigration law with Mexican President [Se&ntilde;or Wences] at the White House Wednesday, he was doing something he has never done with the governor of Arizona. Although Obama has repeatedly criticized the law, he has not once talked about it with Gov. Jan Brewer, nor is any such discussion in the works. If they did talk, Brewer might ask Obama why he took a foreign leader\u2019s side against a U.S. state on the issue of illegal immigration. In a Rose Garden appearance, [Se&ntilde;or Wences] called the Arizona law ‘discriminatory\u2019 and said it will lead to immigrants being ‘treated as criminals.\u2019 Obama echoed [Se&ntilde;or Wences\u2019] remarks, saying the Arizona law ‘has the potential of being applied in a discriminatory fashion\u2019 and creates the ‘possibility\u2019 that immigrants will be ‘harassed or arrested.\u2019 <\/p>\n

‘The scene left some in Arizona, and all around the country, slack-jawed. ‘It is unfortunate and disappointing,\u2019 says Arizona Republican Sen. [Juan] McCain, ‘that the president of Mexico chose to criticize the state of Arizona by weighing in on a U.S. domestic policy issue during a trip that was meant to reaffirm the unique relationship between our two countries.” So it\u2019s all over the place. Everybody sees what\u2019s happening here. We all know what\u2019s happening. It\u2019s never happened before. The events of this week are unprecedented. Now, we have had Senator Kennedy travel to the Soviet Union, and we have had Senator Kennedy send notes to the Soviet Union leaders warning them of doing business with Reagan. We have had George Miller and a number of other Democrats in Congress go down and chastise Daniel Ortega for embarrassing them by having a public relationship with the Soviet Union during the Iran-Contra wars. But never (and in one week to boot) have we had representatives of China and Mexico come to the United States, criticize our country, and the administration agree with them. It\u2019s never happened. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, yes, I have! Topo Gigio was at the White House yesterday. You see that little mouse, that little rat that ran across the steps? Obama\u2019s up there at the podium and some rodent goes by. Topo Gigio! Se&ntilde;or Wences! For those of you too young to know, those are staple characters and guests on the old Ed Sullivan show on Sunday nights on CBS. Let me read to you from the Arizona law. The Arizona law says, quote: ‘A law enforcement official or agency of this state or a county, city, town or other political subdivision of this state may not solely consider race, color or national origin,\u2019 meaning there\u2019s no racial profiling. So this means that an illegal alien arrested in Arizona, if that illegal alien could prove he was arrested because of racial profiling, he would hit the lottery! He would hit the jackpot because the law specifically says: You can\u2019t racially profile. Have we ever had so much dishonesty, blatant dishonesty from the White House in the history of this country? <\/p>\n

Even Clinton backed down when they found the blue dress. The Arizona law is the equivalent of the blue dress and Obama is not backing down. It\u2019s filled with racial profiling and he\u2019s got Se&ntilde;or Wences coming up from Mexico to say the same thing. Does the White House have a fence around it? Why? Why does the White House have a fence around it? It has a fence around it to keep people out. It also has a bunch of Secret Service people guarding the fence — and they have guns, loaded guns. You try to smuggle some drugs over the White House fence, you try to just go through the White House or over it yourself and see what happens to you. And when you go to the White House, everybody needs papers. Every time I\u2019ve been — I don\u2019t care, every new time — I have to submit, resubmit Social Security number and all kinds of other information, every time. They don\u2019t keep it on file. Well, they may keep it on file, but you still have to present it each and every time. You have to present your papers. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, thank you for taking my call today, Rush. Mega dittos. This is a real hoot having a chance to talk to you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you very much, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You know, Rush, earlier this week, you commented on Auntie Obama\u2019s deportation hearing.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Aunt Zeituni, yes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And while you were making your comments my thoughts wandered in a different direction than the point you made at the time. Rush, it\u2019s no surprise that a relative of a sitting president would be granted asylum. I would expect no less. The interesting part is that it showed that illegals living in this country can get public housing and no doubt food stamps and free health care.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s a much bigger issue than Auntie Obama to be found in between the lines of the news story. How many other illegals in this country are living off the American taxpayers and does Auntie Obama now owe the American people the money received while here illegally?<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing) Fat chance. What is your answer? What do you think? I mean, it\u2019s gotta be a lot.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I would ask that there be an accounting. You know, there\u2019s lot of money being spent in this country and the American people deserve a better accounting of how that money is being spent and who it\u2019s being spent on. Now, there\u2019s no problem with coming here legally — and although I don\u2019t agree with subsidizing that effort for those that want to come to America, be that as it may — but being here illegal in this country and being subsidized? That\u2019s beyond the pale.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, of course. Of course it is, but you want an accounting? We\u2019re beyond that. I guess my point is we\u2019re beyond an accounting. We don\u2019t need an accounting to know we\u2019re getting screwed. We don\u2019t need an accounting to know we are getting the shaft. We don\u2019t have any money! We don\u2019t need an accounting. An accounting is never going to happen. I\u2019d like an accounting of the stimulus bill, frankly. I\u2019d like an accounting of TARP. I would like somebody to tell me where the Federal Reserve loaned $2 trillion before we got to TARP. I\u2019d like for somebody to account for me how many people who aren\u2019t working in this country we are subsidizing and to what level. Of course we would all love that. I would looove an accounting of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. But we don\u2019t need it. We don\u2019t need it to know that the wrong people are running the show. We don\u2019t need it. We know who they are, we know what their policies are, we know what objective they have. We have the accounting. All that we need to know — and, yes, it is this simple — is they\u2019re liberals. That\u2019s all we need to know. Everything descends from that. Everything. Every item of corruption, abuse of power, post-Americanism — the answer to everything that\u2019s going on that you don\u2019t understand in this country — can be answered 99% of the time with one word: Liberalism.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Uh, yes. Thank you for take — taking my call, Mr. Limbaugh. I want to say this, okay? The president of Mexico, Felipe Calderon, has every right to weigh in about the, uh — the law in Arizona, because he represents a people and a country — and as far as I am concerned, that is an interest to that country, Mexico, just as it is in this country. Now, whether or not I agree with the comment he made, I can form my own opinion — and in my opinion, the Arizona law is racist because the immigration issue never was, never has been about the issue of immigration. The whole premise of the immigration issue, Mr. Limbaugh, is about race.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, Ralph.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I didn\u2019t challenge Se&ntilde;or Wences\u2019 right to say what he wanted to say. He can say whatever he wants to say. But don\u2019t you find it appalling that a forum was given to the president of Mexico to come here and trash and lie about the United States and the Arizona immigration law? Do you not find it strange that the president of the United States sides with the president of Mexico and everybody else but the people of this country and the people of Arizona on this issue?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, he has — he has made that comment once, you know, before President Calderon came to this country, and he speaks to that position. And, you know — about the — the — the question, Mr. Limbaugh, of racial profiling. Short of racial profiling, how is this law going to be enforced, number one? Number two, they have not defined what is an illegal and who isn\u2019t illegal.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Ralph? Ralph, let me read the Arizona law to you. Are you listening here?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir. I am.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here\u2019s what it says, Ralph. Quote: ‘A law enforcement official or agency of this state or a county, city, or town or other political subdivision of this state may not consider race, color, or national origin…\u2019 Now, would you explain to me, Ralph, where the racism is in that?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, just because it —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you can\u2019t, Ralph, because there\u2019s no racism in it. Don\u2019t even try, Ralph.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s actually in so, Mr. Limbaugh, I definitely don\u2019t like to believe they can\u2019t enforce this law without resorting to racial profiling. I mean, I don\u2019t. I mean, there are millions of innocent people are getting picked. You know, on this.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Ralph?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes?<\/p>\n

RUSH: They\u2019re not. Innocent people are not getting picked.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But, I mean —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Are you telling me that legal immigrants are being deported?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, no, but I mean stopped. They are being stopped.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, they\u2019re not. The law hasn\u2019t even gone into effect yet, Ralph.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That doesn\u2019t matter. There are… You know, there — there are —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Doesn\u2019t matter?<\/p>\n

CALLER: There are people like Arpaio who are —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Snerdley, how in the world did you think that this guy was not a kook?<\/p>\n

CALLER: (inintelligible)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Are you…? Opposition? Ralph, thanks much. I\u2019m sorry Snerdley embarrassed you this way. It\u2019s really not your fault here, my friend. Good Lord, Snerdley! (sigh) The guy… (interruption) Well, it may be the liberal mind. It\u2019s fine to have opposition but the guy was not right about one thing that he said. Even confronted with the Arizona law he said it doesn\u2019t matter, and yet that\u2019s the sole reason he\u2019s calling. (interruption) Well, all I\u2019m saying is you said you didn\u2019t want any kooks and yet you gave me one. You gave me one. CALLER: My husband is going to be so jealous. He\u2019s listening to you right now. I know he is. (giggles) Well, poor Ralph. You know, I mean he doesn\u2019t understand that if you\u2019re not an illegal, you have a driver\u2019s license, a valid driver\u2019s license. But what I called for today is I just heard today that the head of immigration, John Morton, may not help Arizona deport their illegals. And I\u2019m utterly appalled by that. I mean, these people took an oath.<\/p>\n

RUSH: This is true. You heard correctly. The immigration guys, the ICE guys, have told Arizona they\u2019re not going to take their referrals. They\u2019re not going to deal with their cases.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But didn\u2019t these people take an oath to uphold the laws of this country? And it\u2019s a federal law.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They said they\u2019re too busy or some such thing. They don\u2019t want to get caught up in this. This is the regime. I mean, it\u2019s just orders of the regime to steer clear of this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I also wanted to tell you on a side note that I both called and e-mailed Mark Pryor. I\u2019m not even bothering with Blanche Lincoln because she\u2019s out anyway. She can\u2019t stay in. But I condemned his standing ovation to Felipe Calderon speech yesterday, told him that he did not deserve to represent me in the Senate. So I was…<\/p>\n

RUSH: And you know what he did when he got your message?<\/p>\n

CALLER: He probably deleted it. (laughing)<\/p>\n

RUSH: And laughed at it first.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, but, you know, I have power of the (garbled).<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m sure he said, ‘Well, here\u2019s another one of my rube hick constituents not smart enough to understand what\u2019s going on here in the joint session,\u2019 and probably printed it out just so he could rip it up before he deleted it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: My husband\u2019s already told me several times that I\u2019m probably on a watch list for him because I e-mailed and called him so many times and chewed him out. (laughs) But like I care? You know, I don\u2019t care what Mark Pryor thinks about me.<\/p>\n

RUSH: He\u2019s probably gotten to the point now where he looks forward to your calls.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, maybe, but, you know, he never actually speaks to me personally. He never actually calls me back.<\/p>\n
