We had this last week or couple of weeks ago. This is a look back. He made an address to some Muslim students at New York University Law School hosted by the White House Office of Public Engagement and the Islamic center at NYU. Deputy national security advisor for Homeland Security and counterterrorism John Brennan spoke. He spoke in Arabic.<\/line><BR\/><embed align=\"right\"\/><\/line><BR\/>BRENNAN: (Speaking Arabic) Now, don\u2019t tell the folks who don\u2019t speak Arabic what I said, okay?<\/line><\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Now, this guy is from the George Kennan School: appeasement. They\u2019re just insecure. Well, he\u2019s back now. Wednesday in Washington at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, CSIS, a think tank. John Brennan, assistant to the president for Homeland Security and counterterrorism spoke, and this is what he said.<\/p>\n<p>BRENNAN: Our enemy is not &#8216;terrorism\u2019 because terrorism is but a tactic. Our enemy is not &#8216;terror\u2019 because terror is a state of mind. And as Americans we refuse to live in fear. Nor do we describe our enemy as &#8216;jihadists\u2019 or &#8216;Islamists\u2019 because, ji\u2019hahd, is a holy struggle, a legitimate tenet of Is\u2019lam, meaning &#8216;to purify one\u2019s self or one\u2019s community\u2019 and there is nothing &#8216;holy\u2019 or &#8216;legitimate\u2019 or &#8216;Islamic\u2019 about murdering innocent men, women and children. We have never been and will never be at war with Is\u2019lam. After all, Is\u2019lam, like so many faiths, is part of America.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Okay. So we\u2019re distracted here by the oil spill and this guy is out there going on a tour praising the enemy. (interruption) I don\u2019t know. The question: Who are we at war with then?
