RUSH: On the floor of the House last night there\u2019s this big, giant first responders bill that the Democrats have been waffling on for three and a half years or two years, three and a half years, whatever it is, and they\u2019re trying to piggyback an immigration reform amendment, I think, something to do with immigration to a first responders bill because they\u2019re figuring nobody is going to oppose a first responders bill. <\/p>\n

This is in response, of course, to 9\/11. Nobody is gonna stand in the way of additional money for the first responders. Why, we love the first responders. They shut the Republican Party out of offering any amendments on this thing. <\/p>\n

They shut the Republican Party out, and the Republicans are being blamed here for the vote going down in flames but the fact is it\u2019s Democrats that couldn\u2019t come up with enough votes to pass this because the Republicans cannot stop \u2019em in the House. Anthony Weiner — you gotta wonder how married life\u2019s going for the guy — he married Huma Abedin, who is an aide to Hillary Clinton. Weiner lost it. He went absolutely nuts on the floor of the House. We\u2019ll set it up with Peter King from New York, ripped the Democrats about bringing up the 9\/11 bill on a suspension vote, this is last night on the House floor.<\/p>\n

KING: The reason HR-847 is not being brought up under regular order is that the majority party is petrified of having its members face a potential vote on illegal immigration, but the reality is, you could pass this bill. This bill should be more important than a campaign talking point. You could have passed it any time during the past three and a half years but you want political cover. Thank God for our country that the first responders of 9\/11 didn\u2019t look for cover before they did what they had to do and lived up to their oath.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, man, Anthony Weiner lost it. They know that their majority is slipping away. They are crapping up — cracking up. That was a faux pas. That\u2019s a Freudian slip. I did not mean to say that. I apologize. I take it back. I did not mean to say he\u2019s crapping up. I meant to say cracking up. It\u2019s no big F-ing deal, but I just want to make sure that people know I did not say it on purpose. So here is Weiner screaming mad. They\u2019ve gotten everything they want, and they\u2019re still miserable, but that\u2019s not the real story of this. Listen to Weiner.<\/p>\n

WEINER: You vote in favor of something, you believe it\u2019s the right thing! If you believe it\u2019s the wrong thing, you vote no! I will not yield (cross-talk) to the gentleman, and the gentleman will observe regular order! If he gets up and yells like he\u2019s going to intimidate people into believing he\u2019s right! He is wrong! The gentleman is wrong! The gentleman is providing cover for his colleagues rather than doing the right thing! It\u2019s Republicans wrapping their arms around Republicans rather than doing the right thing on behalf of the heroes! It is a shame, a shame! If you believe this is a bad idea to provide health care, then vote no, but don\u2019t give me the cowardly view that, oh, if it was a different procedure — (cross-talk) The gentleman will observe regular order and sit down! I will not! The gentleman will sit!<\/p>\n

RUSH: Anthony Weiner doing his best Barney Frank impersonation. Now, the real story of this is, here he\u2019s having a cow over the Republicans not voting for his bill to help 9\/11 responders, but the story is that Democrats had enough defectors that they needed Republican votes. They can\u2019t pass anything. Republicans can\u2019t stop anything, I should say. They don\u2019t have the votes to stop anything in the House. Anthony Weiner and his sponsors could not get enough Democrats to go for this in order to get the thing passed. It really doesn\u2019t matter what it is, folks, the point here is the crackup, the point here is they know that they\u2019re going to lose their majority, and their own party is deserting them in droves. This has to do with immigration, a bunch of Democrats can read the tea leaves and they don\u2019t want to go on the record here with an immigration — see, the Democrats\u2019 thought was that they\u2019re gonna tack on something that Republicans are dead set against on illegal immigration to something everybody is for, and that\u2019s health care for the first responders. <\/p>\n

So it\u2019s a trick and they figured Republicans wouldn\u2019t have the guts to vote against it. Well, the fact of the matter is a bunch of Democrats defected on this and Weiner is out there ripping into the Republicans for having the thing fail. It\u2019s hilarious. I love this. They are cracking up. They\u2019re not happy no matter what they get, they\u2019re not happy, they are miserable, and remember the culture of corruption? Nancy Pelosi, it\u2019s amazing to me how little — well, it actually is not amazing. I overuse that. It\u2019s amazing how infrequently here the partisan political operatives disguised as media, how little they talk about the culture of corruption on Capitol Hill. That\u2019s a phrase fed them by Pelosi and company a few years back, take the House back when Mark Foley got involved with the pages, and all there was was e-mails, by the way, he didn\u2019t really get involved with the pages, and George Allen with Macaca and all that. And now you have a truly big figure, the chairman of the House Ways and Means committee, a guy that\u2019s been there for 40 years. They talk about, ‘Oh, he\u2019s so well liked.\u2019 <\/p>\n

Rangel is saying that the ethics committee is going to sue them for violating his constitutional rights for not giving him enough time. The investigation\u2019s only gone on two and a half years. But he hasn\u2019t been given enough time. But here you have a truly large seminal figure, who is a crook. Four rent control apartments, all these shady real estate deals, he has not earned the kind of money that he has spent buying all these things, renting all these things that he has, simply cannot do it on what he\u2019s been paid as a member of Congress. Pelosi protected him for a long time and even now she can\u2019t bring herself to condemn what are serial violations of the law and ethics rules. So there\u2019s no defense of Mark Foley, and then here comes the media now trying to pave the way for Rangel. There\u2019s no culture of corruption now. Remember what did Pelosi say, ‘We\u2019re gonna drain the swamp.\u2019 Ha! They didn\u2019t drain the swamp. All they did was restock it with a bunch of alligators.
