CALLER: Rush, my man! What\u2019s up? Let me just ask you this. Let me preface it before I say what I gotta say is that you and [Mark] Levin are the closest thing to Winston Churchill, the closest guys to Winston Churchill and Barack Obama that we\u2019ve got. And my question to you is: How in God\u2019s name can you root for the Pittsburgh Steelers when the Rooneys not only campaigned for him in Pennsylvania but gave him the game ball after they beat the Ravens in the NFC championship game?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That\u2019s —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Excuse me, Rush. I\u2019m 63 years old. I\u2019m a die-hard Jets fan. I watched the 1969 Super Bowl with Joe Willie Namath when the Jets beat the Colts in 1969, and they were 18-point underdogs. If the ownership of the Jets came out and endorsed Obama, I would hope they would choke to death! ‘I hope you choke! You\u2019re endorsing that miserable little punk. I hope to hell you choke!\u2019 That\u2019s what I\u2019m at. We have to resist, way from the bottom of our souls. We have to resist this miserable regime, man.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Uh, look, if I were to abandon my support or fandom of the Pittsburgh Steelers, it wouldn\u2019t change the fortunes of America, nor of Obama. I became a fan of the Steelers in the seventies. I lived there when their dynasty was forming. That\u2019s it. (sigh) This flirtation with Obama, it\u2019s unusual. I know it\u2019s football. Look, every time I open my mouth about football, it\u2019s amazing. I get into more trouble talking about football… They make up things I never said, talking about football. But there is a reason for the endorsement of Obama. (sigh) It doesn\u2019t matter. I\u2019m just going to tell you: Whatever the owner of the Steelers does politically does not affect policy in the country. It\u2019s not gonna affect my fandom of the team or what have you. And it shouldn\u2019t affect yours of the Jets. Other things should (laughing), but not who owns \u2019em. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
