CALLER: What a pleasure it is to talk to you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Congratulations on your wedding.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you very much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I coulda kept up with you in my walker, though. But you\u2019ve got a gem for a wife. I\u2019m really proud to be a conservative, a Republican. I\u2019m proud to be linked to the Tea Party, opposed to the Democrats being linked to the progressives. It\u2019s not your daddy\u2019s Democratic Party anymore. It\u2019s the progressives that are — I\u2019m embarrassed for the Democrats and I\u2019m embarrassed for the media because they don\u2019t get it. They\u2019re being the people that are being led by these progressives, evidenced by the rally that\u2019s coming up this weekend, openly being sponsored by Communist Parties, by socialists everywhere.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a minute, now. Why are you embarrassed for the media, because you think they\u2019re being hoodwinked by these people? <\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m embarrassed for them because they\u2019re so stupid.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, stupid is relative. But they\u2019re part of it. I mean they\u2019re not being hoodwinked by these Marxists and socialists and communists. They\u2019re part of the club.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I guess it\u2019s an underlying faith that they\u2019re Americans, too, and this is all being very anti-American. It\u2019s not working anywhere in this world, progressive and socialism has not worked any place in this world, and we\u2019re running down the aisle towards it. I don\u2019t get it. I\u2019m crazy over this stuff.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I know. See, the problem is you\u2019re trying to understand irrational people in a rational way. You\u2019re trying to attach rationality to them when it\u2019s not possible. It\u2019s like trying to make sense of the insane, because everything you said is correct, it hasn\u2019t worked anywhere. These people are living on theory, and the way they deal with it, the way they deal with the reality it\u2019s never worked is, ‘Well, of course it hasn\u2019t, it hasn\u2019t been tried by the right people: us.\u2019 That\u2019s what Obama meant by ‘We\u2019re the ones we\u2019ve been waiting for.\u2019 Finally Marxism, communism is gonna work because we\u2019re going to be able to print the money necessary to make it happen. <\/p>\n

It doesn\u2019t work, but ‘hope,\u2019 these people live in a dreamland. Mostly, Pat, they\u2019re self-loathing, too. They don\u2019t like themselves. They understand that their lives are worthless and meaningless, in and of themselves. They haven\u2019t amounted to anything so they attach themselves to a cause like this to make themselves feel like they matter. It\u2019s why global warming attracts so many people. It may sound like a cruel thing to say but the truth is the truth. There are a lot of people whose lives are worthless because they waste them. There are a lot of people who live with the fear that their lives don\u2019t matter. You rather I put it that way, Snerdley? Okay, sounds a little better, people who think their lives are worthless, people who think their lives don\u2019t matter latch onto a cause and simply by supporting it makes them think their lives matter. They\u2019ll put on a ribbon and say they matter, they\u2019re more important, they have more compassion than you do. ‘Look, I\u2019m wearing this ribbon. I\u2019m a better person than you are. I\u2019m driving this hybrid. I\u2019m a better person than you are. I\u2019m saving the planet, you\u2019re destroying it. I\u2019m a good person. I care more than you do.\u2019 <\/p>\n

Then they go home and they sit there and they wallow in their own self-imposed irrelevance, and they are suckers for causes. So you have people that come along that want to get rid of them, like the global warming crowd. It\u2019s classic. You tell a bunch of people who think their lives are meaningless that they are destroying the planet, but, but, but… collectively destroying the planet. But, but, but there\u2019s redemption. You can save the planet. You have to get rid of lightbulbs and replace \u2019em. You have to start driving little lawn mowers. You have to support every tenant of liberalism and the global warming belief. You have to accept the notion that you\u2019re killing the polar bears but you can save them. And then once you alter your life to save the polar bears, then you can get on everybody else for killing them, and then you really matter because you\u2019re saving the polar bears. Everybody else is killing them. You\u2019re saving the whales; you\u2019re saving the baby seals; you\u2019re saving the Pandas, whatever, you\u2019re saving it all. You\u2019re saving the world and you\u2019re willing to pay higher taxes, you\u2019re willing to sacrifice, and ergo you now feel like your life has meaning. You made a difference. <\/p>\n

Everybody wants to think they made a difference. You ever run into people like that? I\u2019m sure you run into them now. ‘Little Johnny, what do you want to be when you grow up?\u2019 ‘I want to make a difference, mom.\u2019 ‘Well, little Johnny, realize Hitler made a difference. Pol Pot made a difference. Mussolini made a difference. Fidel Castro is making a difference.\u2019 ‘That\u2019s not what I mean. I want to make a good difference.\u2019 Fine, fine. And then after that you don\u2019t have to do anything to feel good about yourself. You just have to say you want to make a difference and all of a sudden you\u2019re a good, good person.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
