RUSH: Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad — and, by the way, if I call this guy Keyser Soze during this, forgive me, because that\u2019s, you know, I\u2019m into syllables, and sometimes I get \u2019em confused; the character Kevin Spacey played in the movie The Usual Suspects. ‘Smirking defiantly as a Manhattan federal judge\u2019 — I think — and somebody help me out on this — this federal judge was a woman. Oh, let me get this right. She said something to the guy, something just totally chickified. I think it was this defendant, maybe somebody else that was sentenced (paraphrase): ‘Are you really going to think about what you did wrong when you get back to prison?\u2019 Something silly. This guy then launches in this ten-minute tirade, ten-minute statement to the court. This is the Times Square bomber trying to detonate a car bomb in Times Square. He ‘vowed yesterday that ‘the defeat of [the] US is imminent.” <\/p>\n

Now, I want you to keep this in mind every time you hear or read about a mosque being built at Ground Zero. ‘In a 10-minute statement to the court that denounced post-9\/11 foreign policy as it threatened future American bloodshed, Faisal Shahzad warned: ‘Brace yourselves, because the war with Muslims has just begun. Consider me only a first droplet of the blood that will follow me.\u2019 Invoking the names of Osama Bin Laden and the medieval Muslim sultan Saladin, the 31-year-old Pakistan immigrant justified his evil plot in the name of Islam, insisting that, ‘the Koran gives us the right to defend, and that\u2019s all I\u2019m doing.\u2019 <\/line> <\/line>”We do not accept your democracy or your freedom because we already have Sharia law and freedom&hellip; The past nine years, the war with Muslims has achieved nothing for the US, except for it has waken up the Muslims for Islam. We are only Muslims trying to defend our religion, people, honor and land. But if you call us terrorists for doing that, then we are proud terrorists, and we will keep on terrorizing until you leave our land and people at peace.” Now, his plot did not include suicide. He did say, ‘If I\u2019m given a thousand lives, I\u2019ll sacrifice them all for the sake of Allah fighting this cause, defending our lands, making the world and word of Allah supreme over any religion or system.\u2019 <\/line> <\/line>Ever since (well, even predating) 9\/11, those of us who understand this enemy have been warning everybody: it\u2019s not because these people are poor, and it\u2019s not because that they\u2019re poor because we\u2019ve made them poor, it\u2019s not because — Obama views it this way. Obama thinks we\u2019re out there creating terrorists because of Abu Ghraib and Club Gitmo and all our supposed torture, and because we have oppressed the free peoples of the world, we have robbed \u2019em, we have stolen their natural resources for our own selfish greed; we have conquered, we have not liberated, we have been imperialistic, we have colonized the world, we have imposed ourselves on the rest of the world. I\u2019ve always said, how do you impose freedom on anybody? But this is what Obama believes. <\/line> <\/line>And after 9\/11, our own illustrious State Department conducting a seminar (paraphrase): ‘What did we do to make them hate us? We must find out, we must listen. Why do they hate us?\u2019 Well, okay, you ask the question, and we\u2019ll tell you. It\u2019s not because we support Israel, it\u2019s not because they\u2019re poor, it\u2019s not because they have no future, it\u2019s not because we have insulted them or anything. It\u2019s because we are a threat to their religion. Their religion is a combination ideology. I love our separation-of-church-and-state crowd in this country. You cannot separate church and state in Islam; it\u2019s one and the same. And yet you have people in this country who will defend it to the end of all days, claiming that it\u2019s simply a result of the unjust immorality of the United States. Well, Mr. Faisal Shahzad said it: ”We do not accept your democracy or your freedom because we already have Sharia law and freedom,\u2019 which is what they want to impose on us, and he says it. Just like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, they are laying it out, promising, telling us exactly what they intend to do. And as every day goes by that we do not listen to them and trust them to be honest in what they\u2019re saying about us, as long as we don\u2019t react to them as an enemy, we\u2019re at risk.<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: More from Faisal Shahzad: ‘Speaking without notes during an obviously well-rehearsed speech, Shahzad recalled the words of former President George W. Bush ‘when he started the war on us, on Muslims. He said, ‘You are either with us or against us.\u2019 And so it\u2019s very clear for us Muslims, either we are with the mujahideen or we are with crusading Jews and Christians,\u2019 Shahzad said. ‘There is no in between.\u2019 Shahzad also urged Americans to convert to Islam, ‘so that when you meet Allah on the day of resurrection, you will not be able to say nobody gave you the message.\u2019<\/line>Shahzad — who faced a mandatory life sentence after pleading guilty to all charges in the May 1 incident — greeted his punishment with a grin and repeated exclamations of ‘Allahu akbar,\u2019 Arabic for ‘God is great.\u2019 After one exhortation, he raised his right hand and pointed his index finger toward the heavens.<\/line><\/p>\n

‘Federal Judge Miriam Goldman Cedarbaum — who imposed six consecutive life sentences and another 20 years to be served concurrently — said Shahzad deserved the harsh penalty, even though ‘happily, the training you sought in making bombs was unsuccessful and you were unsuccessful in your effort to kill many Americans.\u2019 As he did during his guilty plea — during which he declared himself a ‘mujahid,\u2019 or Muslim soldier — Shahzad engaged in several exchanges with the judge. ‘You are a young man, and you will have a lot of time to reflect on what you have done and what you have said today and in the past,\u2019 Cedarbaum told him at one point. Shahzad replied, ‘My sentence, if you allow me to speak, will be only for the limit that God has given me life in this world. But if you people don\u2019t become believers, the life that you would get in the hereafter, which you don\u2019t believe in, will be forever. So I\u2019m happy with the deal that God has given me.”<\/p>\n

This is what the Times Square bomber said. Now, it was the Judge Miriam Goldman Cedarbaum who said, ‘You appear to be someone who was capable of education and I do hope you will spend some of the time in prison thinking carefully about whether the Quran wants you to kill lots of people.\u2019 Yeah, we\u2019re going to put you behind bars, son, we really want you to think about what you\u2019re saying. You seem like a smart guy, so you think about this. Shahzad accepted US citizenship eight years after Bush said you\u2019re either with us or with the terrorists. You cannot ignore the fact that Islam is a political system. It\u2019s maybe the only religion that is. Islam equals Sharia. We just don\u2019t seem to be able to get it through our heads that many of the Muslims are still fighting the Crusades which, lest we forget, they started! This is a bunch that wants to go back to the 700s, to the sixth century, whatever it is. I sometimes get confused. And let\u2019s not forget, speaking of confused, after the man was apprehended May 3rd, 2010, CBS Evening News Katie Couric talked to the mayor, Michael Bloomberg, she said, ‘You believe the Times Square bombing suspect acted alone?\u2019<\/p>\n

BLOOMBERG: If I had to guess 25 cents, this would be exactly that, somebody —<\/p>\n

COURIC: A homegrown. <\/p>\n

BLOOMBERG: Homegrown, maybe a mentally deranged person or somebody with a political agenda that doesn\u2019t like the health care bill or something, it could be anything.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Doesn\u2019t that just sound like an elitist? Not just the words, just the whole intonation. (imitating Bloomberg) ‘Oh, yes, homegrown, maybe a mentally deranged person, somebody with a political agenda, doesn\u2019t like the health care bill, you know these kinds of idiots, Katie, you know well what we\u2019re discussing.\u2019 Somebody that didn\u2019t like the health care bill, homegrown, mentally deranged. It was Faisal Shahzad who said, ‘We do not accept your democracy or your freedom because we already have Sharia law and freedom. The past nine years the war with Muslims has achieved nothing for the US except for it has wakened up the Muslims for Islam.\u2019 That\u2019s a crock, too, because they\u2019ve been awake since the Crusades. The bottom line is how can this be happening, folks? How can this be happening? You might say I\u2019m just rubbing salt in the wound here. No, I\u2019m dead serious when I say this stuff. We elected a president who\u2019s going to stop all it is. There was not going to be any of this angst. The Muslims weren\u2019t gonna hate us anymore. <\/p>\n

Once we got rid of Bush and once we had somebody in there who could reach out to \u2019em and make them understand that we don\u2019t have anything against \u2019em and, in fact, that we\u2019re sorry for what we\u2019ve done, we got a guy who\u2019s running around apologizing every chance he\u2019s gotten. He went to Cairo; he went to Berlin; he went to a number of places, he\u2019s apologized. We\u2019re supposed to be in a postpartisan, postracial, we\u2019re supposed to be in a new era where everybody loves everybody, where the bad guys of the world finally lay down their arms because finally the United States has matured to the point it\u2019s elected somebody who understands just how guilty the country was and is willing to say so. Now, it\u2019s worse than ever. You stop and think if we ever do actually have a trial for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. This guy got ten minutes, Faisal Shahzad Keyser Soze, he got ten minutes. Imagine Khalid Sheikh Mohammed with two years of this kind of thing. You know, we ignore these people at our own peril. <\/p>\n

We chalk up their behavior to our own analysis when we deny what they say to our own peril. They\u2019re not poor. They\u2019re not wandering aimless. They have not had their futures taken away by the evil United States. It\u2019s not even our support for Israel. They say that, and I\u2019m sure it irritates \u2019em, but it\u2019s our very existence as a free nation with freedom of religion that irritates \u2019em, that makes us a target, pure and simple. It\u2019s who we are. And there\u2019s nobody who can persuade them to leave us alone by virtue of his own countenance, his own background, his own history, his own words, his own speeches. We could have a president even worse than Obama who does nothing but openly criticize and run down and apologize this country each and every day. Still wouldn\u2019t matter. The fact that we exist is what makes us the enemy. <\/p>\n

I mean you may not want to hear this. The Muslims sided with the Nazis against the West even before there was an Israel. We have pictures of the imams before there was an Israel, in the 1940s. From the New York Times, May 15th of this year: ‘The classmate recalled walking into Mr. Shahzad\u2019s apartment a few days after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11 to find him staring at news footage of the planes hitting the towers. ‘They had it coming,\u2019 Mr. Shahzad said, according to the friend, a Pakistani-American. The friend said Mr. Shahzad believed that Western countries had conspired to mistreat Muslims.\u2019 This guy told us in our own court before a sitting federal judge exactly what\u2019s on tap. We don\u2019t have people in Washington willing to believe it, hear it. They\u2019re too busy thinking it\u2019s still our fault. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
