RUSH: Adam in Riverdale, New York, welcome to the EIB Network. Great to have you here.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. It\u2019s a pleasure to reach you today.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. I wanted to talk to you about the American voter. You know, I\u2019m convinced at this point that most Americans don\u2019t have the sense to reason things out about the economy. I think they\u2019re angry at Obama because they\u2019re waiting for him to fix things, but a lot of them don\u2019t understand about Marxism and socialism. Some do, but many more don\u2019t, because as we know, the Republicans, it\u2019s going to be an earthquake in November. I\u2019ve been reading all these articles about how it will be handing Obama a gift if he goes along with the Republicans in Congress. Now, why would Americans hold on? I mean, on principle, they should realize what Obama has done and vote him out regardless in 2012. You know? I just don\u2019t think most Americans really know that he\u2019s responsible for ruining the economy.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I have to, sadly, agree. I don\u2019t know if it\u2019s most.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But it\u2019s a lot. Earlier this week I engaged — because I got a couple calls — I engaged in what, for me, was the most elementary explanation of how jobs are created, how people get paid, how taxes are collected, what the purpose of it is, basically the most rudimentary explanation of capitalism. I went to a dinner party last night and I had three people come up to me who heard it and said you need to do that more often. I understand why, but it was basic. To me it\u2019s instinctive, once you\u2019ve lived it, you ought to understand it. But you said something very key. People are waiting for Obama to fix it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. They\u2019re waiting for him to fix things, but a lot of people, like I said, they understand that Obama\u2019s ruining this, but out of principle, I mean let\u2019s say the Republicans make things into a satisfactory situation going into 2012. Out of, you know, all these horrible things, the health care thing, Obama ruining the economy with his Marxism, you know, out of principle, are Americans going to wise up this time and say, ‘This guy is just no good, get him out\u2019?<\/p>\n

RUSH: See, it is the age-old question. I lived through the prosperity of the eighties.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And throughout the eighties, and you could even argue into the late nineties —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — and during that period of time the American left and the press was constantly revising history, denigrating Reagan, denigrating supply-side economics, capitalism, denigrating the sole reasons for the economic prosperity. And yet liberalism, socialism, Marxism has always failed wherever it\u2019s tried, and yet people continually are seduced by it. And they are seduced by it not so much it, but by its practitioners, as in Obama. People like him personally. If you look at the polling data they don\u2019t like a thing he\u2019s doing but they like him personally. So that would lead you to believe that if the Republicans do come along and make some fixes and get things going in the right direction, Obama will benefit from it and maybe get reelected because people like him personally and don\u2019t hold him personally accountable for this destruction.<\/p>\n

CALLER: On the other hand if he continues to fight the Republicans and just continue being who he\u2019s being, if things don\u2019t improve, he\u2019ll definitely be voted out.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Not automatic. That depends on how the Republicans deal with it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, they have to be clever and they have to expose him better.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t even think they have to be clever. They just have to oppose him. They can\u2019t compromise with him. They have to be able to empathize with their voters and understand why they\u2019re being elected, you know, what their voters expect them to do. And it\u2019s not to cozy up with anybody on the other side, and it\u2019s not to walk across the aisle, it\u2019s not compromise and bipartisanship. It\u2019s to stop this, pure and simple. But I\u2019m still struck by your — it\u2019s one of these things that it\u2019s a profundity, because he says it and I can visualize it. There are people out there waiting for Obama to fix things. Not just Obama personally to fix things. They are waiting for the government to fix it. Now, those are people who have not the slightest idea that they hold the single greatest power over their destiny than the government. They are more in charge of their own life, and it\u2019s sad. That\u2019s not taught anymore. We\u2019re making victims out of more and more people. We\u2019re groupifying, we\u2019re Balkanizing people, and then we\u2019re making them victims. ‘Yeah, your life is what it is because of X, because of them, because of that group, because of those rich people. You can\u2019t get a job or you can\u2019t get a Big Mac or you can\u2019t get Chicken McNuggets unless you call 911 because of X.\u2019 <\/p>\n

So everybody is being given an excuse for mediocrity, for being mediocre. I\u2019m talking about the public school system throughout our educational system, people\u2019s failures and their mediocre achievements, behavior, is being excused, and, in fact, we\u2019re attaching self-esteem to it. ‘You\u2019re fine, little Johnny. Two plus two is five? Wonderful, wonderful, little Johnny.\u2019 Rather than saying, ‘You stupid idiot, we\u2019ve been trying to teach you for two years that two and two is four. When you gonna learn it?\u2019 Well, not you stupid idiot. But we are victimizing people which is giving them an excuse to not account for anything, to not be anything. And then we\u2019re teaching them how to blame somebody else or some other group or series of events for their plight. And so we arrive at a point where a significant portion of the population is sitting around waiting for somebody, the government, to fix it. <\/p>\n

There are some people — and, you know, look, this is a tough thing to say because a lot of people don\u2019t want to hear this \u2019cause it goes against everybody\u2019s desire that we all be the same, that there be no pain in life and that there be no suffering and that everybody do well and that everybody have what they want and so forth. But there is no equality. You cannot guarantee that any two people will end up the same, and you can\u2019t legislate it and you can\u2019t make it happen. You can try under the guise of fairness and so forth, but some people are self-starters and some people are born lazy, some people are born victims, some people are just born to be slaves. Some people are born to put up with somebody else making every decision for them. Some people, on the other hand, are born and they\u2019re not gonna take anything from anybody, they\u2019re going to be totally in charge of their lives, they\u2019re not going to sit around and wait for something, they\u2019re gonna make it happen. You can see this throughout the American strata, population. Well, born and raised. I think both. I think born and raised. <\/p>\n

But even in down economic times there are people getting wealthy. In recessions and depressions there are still people who are profiting from it. Most people are not self-starters. Most people, if you ask them as adults: ‘Think back. Who was the best teacher you ever had?\u2019 They\u2019ll tell you almost without fail that there was somebody in their life that showed them they were capable of much more than they thought they were capable of themselves, because most people are not self-starters. Most people don\u2019t push themselves. They have to be pushed, to be shown. It was the toughest, the hardest teacher that they probably didn\u2019t like, compared to other teachers, but as they matured and got older they realized that particular teacher showed them they were cable of much, much more than they thought they were themselves. It\u2019s just probably a matter of intelligent design. The vast majority of people are not self-starters. And in a way it all works out, because everybody is needed for something. <\/line><\/line>Anyway, I\u2019m a little long here in this segment. But you get the drift. I think that\u2019s very, very important and indicative. ‘People are waiting for Obama to fix it.\u2019 By the way, did you notice Obama\u2019s reaction to the problem of his presidential seal falling off of his podium? Did you see videotape of this? And did you hear about the aftermath? He was fit to be tied. He found somebody to blame. He had to, and he did find some human being to blame for that thing happening, that seal falling \u2019cause that was a personal affront to him. ‘No other president\u2019s seal ever fell like that, who\u2019s responsible for it?\u2019 He\u2019s a perfect example of what I\u2019m talking about here. Blames everybody for everything, never accepts blame for his own actions. You know people like that. They\u2019re all over the place, and they irritate the hell out of you, don\u2019t they?<\/line><\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: I think it\u2019s just a fact of life. Seventy percent of people — 70%, maybe 65% — wake up waiting to be told what to do. It\u2019s just the way it is. I\u2019m not criticizing them. It\u2019s just the way it is. Sixty-five, 70% of people wake up waiting for something to get fixed. (interruption) You don\u2019t think it\u2019s that high? I\u2019m not breaking it down male-female.
