RUSH: Here is Mike in North Providence, Rhode Island, great to have you on the EIB Network. Hello, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Mr. Limbaugh, thank you for taking my call. It\u2019s an honor to speak to you. To answer your question before, no I do not think Lindsey Graham is the future of our party. In fact, I think that the future of the Republican Party is no one like Lindsey Graham. I think the future of the Republican Party is Marco Rubio. He ran a campaign, I\u2019m sure you\u2019re aware of it because you live down there and you follow this stuff, but he ran a campaign that spoke about American exceptionalism better than anybody I\u2019ve heard of since Ronald Reagan. And he articulated it to a point where it\u2019s hard to disagree with him.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I agree.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And, you know, I, in a way, disagree what you\u2019re saying about Angle and O\u2019Donnell. No, the answer to that would not have been a Mike Castle or a Lowden, but I contend that if Marco Rubio lived in Nevada and ran the same campaign that he ran in Florida, he would be the senator from Nevada. Same thing with (garbled), and, you know, we need to find our own Marco Rubios wherever we are. I\u2019m the bluest of blue states here in Rhode Island, but, if Marco Rubio ran here, and ran the same campaign he ran in Florida —<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, this is an interesting premise. A lot of people are saying we need to find candidates. A lot of people are saying we need to go out there and ‘vet\u2019 candidates. I\u2019ve heard some people say, ‘We need to find better Christine O\u2019Donnells.\u2019 The problem with that is nobody found her. She\u2019s an outsider. She effervesced. (That\u2019s ‘bubbled up.\u2019 Think beer, for those of you in Rio Linda. Bubbles, beer, big head.) She just bubbled up. The Republican Party didn\u2019t go out there and say, ‘Ah, Christine O\u2019Donnell! Yeah, okay, we\u2019ve identified a candidate. Let\u2019s vet her.\u2019 Same thing with Angle. Now, maybe there\u2019s a way around this. Maybe as part of the Limbaugh Institute we begin this process. (interruption) Well, I\u2019ll explain it in do you course. I\u2019m just planting the seed out there now, but I agree with you about Marco Rubio. It would be wonderful if every Republican candidate could articulate it the way he does. Sadly, they\u2019re not all going to be able to. They will all be able to vote it. They\u2019ll all be able to vote it, and that\u2019s the important thing: Getting them there to vote it. V-O-T-E it! Sometimes people get confused when syllables run together.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You challenged some of the listeners early on in your show to call in and talk about whether the future of Republicans would be the establishment or the new faces, and I just simply called in to cast my vote, and then I was challenged to say why. And of course my feeling is that Palin represents that new face, and when challenged, I said, ‘Well, we have old wineskins, and we\u2019re trying to put new wine in old wineskins,\u2019 and I just thought that was a pretty fair metaphor for it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, good. So you reject the notion that Lindsey Graham and Trent Lott are the face and the future of the party?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, they\u2019re the face of the fifties, I think.<\/p>\n

But first I\u2019d like to sing the high praises of Maha Rushie and do a quick shout out to my conservative parents who are now washed in red central New York. My vote would be for Chris Christie first, Jim DeMint second, Palin and Bachmann third, and then maybe Rudy Giuliani for attorney general. But they all have to, and this for me personally —<\/p>\n
