CALLER: Hey, Rush. God bless you. We\u2019re all praying for you. Listen. I watched the debate last night, and, you know, Biden, like you said, looked very frail,<\/a> and, if you remember, he actually brought up this whole business about the computer and the laptop first. It seemed like he just wanted to get it off his chest, and I couldn\u2019t wait to watch the post-debate analysis on CNN afterwards, because, as we all know, they never carry the president live anymore.<\/p>\n

\"\"They just wait \u2019til he\u2019s finished and then they tell their viewers what they\u2019re supposed to think about what they weren\u2019t allowed to see, and they were gleeful about the fact that, “Well, nobody should believe any of this story about the laptop because we\u2019re not covering it. It\u2019s not real news. It\u2019s nothing to worry about here.”<\/p>\n

Only if you\u2019re a Fox News watcher, you would understand what they\u2019re talking about, and I just thought the fact that they were so gleeful and condescending about it was so telling about who they really are, and I don\u2019t know where they go from here, because their credibility is shot beyond salvation.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well (sigh), where do they go from there? I mean, they\u2019re locked in. They\u2019re locked into anti-Trump for as long as Trump is. Anyway, there\u2019s a story here from National Review Online. The editors have a message out there (I should call it an “editorial”), and it\u2019s headline is, “The Media\u2019s Shameful Hunter Biden Abdication<\/a> —<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>“In an interview with National Public Radio\u2019s public editor today, Terence Samuel, managing editor for news, explained why readers haven\u2019t seen any stories about the New York Post\u2019s Hunter Biden email scoop. ‘We don\u2019t want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories, and we don\u2019t want to waste the listeners\u2019 and readers\u2019 time on stories that are just pure distractions,\u2019 Samuel reasoned.<\/p>\n

“‘And quite frankly, that\u2019s where we ended up, this was … a politically driven event and we decided to treat it that way,'” and this guy, Terence Samuel, National Public Radio public editor, “speaks for much of the media, which has ignored or dismissed the emails out of hand. In her 60 Minutes interview,” we played you the audio, Lesley Stahl, said there\u2019s no story there. There\u2019s nothing! We can\u2019t prove that.<\/p>\n

Trump says, “Well, I\u2019m the most spied on campaign.” “No, you can\u2019t prove that! There\u2019s nothing to see there.” The media is just gonna ignore it, and you say, “Where can they go?” Right where they are. But here\u2019s the thing, folks. This what you have to know. Within the Drive-By Media universe — and let\u2019s call it out. It\u2019s no mystery. It\u2019s the New York Times at the top of the heap, then the Washington Post.<\/p>\n

Then you throw in USA Today and the LA Times, maybe. I don\u2019t know. Some of the other big papers. Then you go CNN. Then you\u2019ll have ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS. Then you have MSNBC, and then you have all the little crumb crunchers following around trying to pick up the refuse. They are terrified of each other. They are scared to death to do anything differently from what they think the leaders of this pack are doing.<\/p>\n

\"\"So they are scared to death of the New York Times. They are scared to death of the Washington Post. They do not want to incur the wrath of others in the Drive-By Media. They are afraid to death to do anything to hurt Biden for fear of being ripped to shreds and ostracized by others in the Drive-By Media. In other words, folks, they are scared to death they\u2019re gonna be scratched off the invite lists!<\/p>\n

This is not an exaggeration. This is Groupthink 101, and the elite status that is conveyed to people in the Drive-By Media is contingent on them following the lead. There cannot be any independence. There cannot be any risk-taking. There cannot be any curiosity outside the way the group is functioning. There must be total fealty to groupthink, conventional wisdom, what have you.<\/p>\n

In this case it\u2019s Trump\u2019s bad; Biden\u2019s good. Biden must win; Trump must be defeated. Trump must be ruined. No exceptions. “In contemporary media parlance, ‘distraction…'” Like this guy, Terence Samuel, calling the Hunter Biden laptop story a “‘distraction,\u2019 like ‘Russian disinformation,\u2019 is a euphemism for any story that harms the prospects of the Biden candidacy.”<\/p>\n

Any story that might harm Biden is called a “distraction,” not news. It\u2019s “Russian disinformation.” It\u2019s a “distraction.” The bottom line is that way “[t]oo many journalists seem to live in terror of being blamed for reporting stories that might influence voters to reelect Donald Trump.” So to make sure that doesn\u2019t happen, they go way out of bounds anti-Trump. They go way overboard anti-Trump.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s where we are, and that\u2019s why.<\/p>\n
