RUSH: Here is Silvia in Spokane, Washington. Silvia, I\u2019m glad you waited. Great to have you on the program. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you. Love you, Rush. Hey, what happened with Cruz in the Bronx yesterday is a prime example of the mainstream media doing everything they can to tell the story wrong. When I read it last night on the Internet it was 29 pastors meeting with Cruz in a restaurant and 12 uninvited citizens showing up. By the time I heard it on the radio this morning it was Cruz throwing a rally and 12 people showed up. <\/p>\n

So it was a total mischaracterization by the mainstream media of what\u2019s really happening out there, and they\u2019re fighting Cruz just like they fought Reagan. Lots of us are in that generation that loved Reagan. We love Cruz. The media\u2019s gonna do everything they can, but he may win anyway, and, boy, like never before, I\u2019m giving money to my candidate, Ted Cruz.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I happen to have here the New York Post version of the event that you\u2019re talking about, Silvia. Let\u2019s read this together. Headline: “Ted Cruz\u00c2\u2019s Campaign Stop in the Bronx is a Complete Dud.” It\u2019s by Jennifer Bain and Bob Fredericks. “There are more than 1.4 million people in the Bronx — but Ted Cruz couldn\u00c2\u2019t even muster 100 at a campaign event in Parkchester with state Sen. Ruben Diaz Sr., a conservative Christian minister.<\/line><\/p>\n

“Cruz visited the Sabrosura Chinese-Dominican restaurant, where Diaz said the presidential candidate could ‘listen to the social, economic and spiritual needs of our community\u2019 while dining with other clergymen on the eatery\u00c2\u2019s famed fried rice and plantains. Aside from about 70 ministers affiliated with Diaz, only a dozen voters turned up — and two of them were tossed out after screaming protests about the Texas senator\u00c2\u2019s hardline stance on immigration. ‘He is anti-immigrant. He denies climate change. He\u00c2\u2019s a right-winged bigot and he\u00c2\u2019s not welcomed here,\u2019 said protester Rebel Diaz.”<\/p>\n

So this story pretty much dovetails with the way you saw the rest of the Drive-Bys reporting the event.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, that\u2019s what I saw last night, the emphasis last night was, yeah, it was a meeting with ministers. By the time it got shortened this morning on the morning radio news, it was a rally and only 12 citizens showed up.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s all it was. And so the mainstream media is willing to do half truths —<\/p>\n

RUSH: There\u2019s no doubt — look, they hate him, they are threatened by him. There\u2019s no question they\u2019re threatened by him. He\u2019s a conservative and he means it. Damn right they\u2019re threatened by him. Here\u2019s another one. This is from the New York Daily News.<\/a> Their cover photo today is Cruz standing by a subway car, “Take the FU Train, Ted.” I mean, everybody knows what the FU train means. How many years ago would you never see something like that in a newspaper, front page or not?<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. That\u2019s true.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here\u2019s the story. “Ted Cruz visit to Bronx high school canceled after students threaten a walkout: ‘His views are against ours\u2019 — Ted Cruz came to New York Wednesday talking about education, but he\u00c2\u2019s the one who got schooled. The lesson came from a group of Bronx high school students who told the Republican presidential candidate to stay away.<\/p>\n

“Cruz was scheduled to speak at Bronx Lighthouse College Preparatory Academy until students wrote a letter to the principal asking her not to let Cruz come, prompting staffers to cancel the appearance. ‘We told her if he came here, we would schedule a walkout,\u2019 said Destiny Domeneck, 16. ‘Most of us are immigrants or come from immigrant backgrounds. Ted Cruz goes against everything our school stands for.'”<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, if it\u2019s a public school, that\u2019s for sure, because that\u2019s what the public schools are teaching these kids.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you know, you ought to read the letter they wrote.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They\u2019re not learning much about English comp, I can tell you that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, Rush, I went to the big rally here near Spokane in Coeur d\u2019Alene, and then the next day later the preacher was shot. Remember reading about that rally? For Cruz?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait. When did this happen?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Three weeks ago, a month ago?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I was confusing it. Some people shot a priest thinking he was a KKK member recently.<\/p>\n

CALLER: What I\u2019m saying is, that was a last-minute rally, they talked Cruz into coming through doing a last-minute rally in an agriculture building. There were 3,000 people there, most of us had to stand in the rain to get in. I devoted four hours to get in and get out \u2019cause that rally was huge, it was last minute.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hey, you know, there\u2019s no denying Cruz is on a roll here. We just had the story, he\u2019s won more delegates since March 15th than Trump has, when Rubio got out March 15th. He\u2019s on a roll here. I mean, a 13 point landslide win in Wisconsin. Now, the polling data New York is not good; it\u2019s got him in third place. We\u2019ll see. April the 19th is when it comes up. Trump\u2019s at 52% in that poll. <\/p>\n

Now, on the other side, on the Trump side, there\u2019s been a campaign shakeup. There\u2019s been an actual professional added to the campaign team, a professional in delegate relations, Paul Manafort is his name. There\u2019s a story here at the sound cloud.com, it\u2019s a Breitbart story. “Roger Stone Warns After Wisconsin Loss: Donald Trump\u2019s Campaign ‘Has No Infrastructure in The States\u2019.”<\/a><\/p>\n

Stone\u2019s out there saying that there\u2019s nobody in the Trump campaign that knows a thing about dealing with delegates. They\u2019ve got no offices open in any of the states. They\u2019re not working anything other than these massive national rallies and trying to win big national media, and everybody\u2019s scratching, “What\u2019s this going on?” <\/p>\n

I think I know what\u2019s going on. I think there\u2019s a bunch of people making a move on Corey Lewandowski in the Trump campaign. I think all this public pressure being brought, all these public statements about the incompetence of the Trump campaign is actually — they\u2019re all hit pieces on Lewandowski, by people from within the Trump campaign or close to it who don\u2019t like the guy. Just my wild guess. I, of course, am like Sergeant Schultz. “I know nothing whatsoever about what\u2019s going on in the campaign.” <\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Thank you for listening. Well, I had tell you, I\u2019m from upstate New York — Syracuse, not New York City — and I was a little offended by what Ted Cruz said about New Yorkers. Because we aren\u2019t them.<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing)<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: We… New York City is a totally separate entity from the rest of us —<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing) Are you hearing this, folks?<\/p>\n

CALLER: — and all of us in upstate New York agree, okay?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a minute. So he was right about Manhattanites?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Eh, I don\u2019t know. (laughing)<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing)<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) It is a little insulting that everything is focused on New York City. We are voters, too, and we feel very put aside all the time. Hillary Clinton. The only reason that she\u2019s running in New York is because she decided that\u2019s where she wanted to run, and she bought a house there.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, it\u2019s because… Well, maybe she wanted to, but the reason she wanted to is carpetbagging. She saw Robert Kennedy do it. Why couldn\u2019t she?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yup.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I mean, Clinton\u2019s greased the skids, Democrat Party do what it takes to make her a senator from there. <\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s why they\u2019re not so overjoyed with her out there, I think, right now. Because not only the history, the recent history, but she\u2019s not a New Yorker.<\/p>\n

RUSH: We will see. Bill Clinton\u2019s out there talking about how the world has changed (impression), “You know, the world was a much better put-together place when I was president, but it\u2019s falling apart out there now.
