RUSH: Liz in Camden, Tennessee, it\u2019s great to have you with us, the EIB Network. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hello, Rush. It\u2019s a delight and an honor to get to finally speak to you after all these years.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, thank yeeew so much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019ve got a question.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What is it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m one of those what the Democrats think as dumb Americans. Could you explain to me why the media and the Democratic Party are trashing the Republicans for all the cuts that are fixin\u2019 to be made but yet they have not one — not one, correct me if I\u2019m wrong — idea or policy set up?<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s a great question, and it is just the Democrat Party playbook. I don\u2019t know how old you are, and I\u2019m not going to ask, but for as long as I\u2019ve been alive, this has been the mantra. I remember after Reagan\u2019s second term election, people like David Broder of the Washington Post said, ‘It\u2019s a triumph of greed and selfishness over common sense.\u2019 Reagan was routinely accused of being responsible for AIDS. Reagan was said to have been responsible for homelessness, that in effect Reagan went outside and crossed the street in Lafayette Park and stole pork ‘n\u2019 beans from the homeless, went back to the White House kitchen, cooked \u2019em up and ate \u2019em and had a great time. It\u2019s standard operating procedure. It\u2019s the template: ‘Republicans hate people, kill people, particularly old people,\u2019 and they\u2019re dredging it up here. That\u2019s all they\u2019ve got.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But, Rush, what I\u2019m asking is, see: In order to have a debate or discussion you\u2019ve got to have your own agenda, right?<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, you don\u2019t. No, no. That\u2019s my point. I know what you\u2019re asking. The Republicans have made clear what they want to cut, some of the things. They\u2019ve identified some of it. But even if they hadn\u2019t, all the Republicans have to do is start talking about reducing spending and the Democrats start having a cow and they bring up this parade of victims. It\u2019s standard operating procedure.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, do the Democrats think we have a money tree in the backyard?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. It\u2019s called a printing press. They do.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, what\u2019s gonna happen when the printing press runs out of ink?<\/p>\n

RUSH: It won\u2019t.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Eventually it will. (chuckles)<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, it won\u2019t run outta ink and it won\u2019t run outta paper. The paper will just become valueless. <\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s what I\u2019m saying. It won\u2019t be worth of paper it\u2019s printed on.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So look, let me ask you a very salient question.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s obvious that you know all this. It\u2019s obvious that you know the drawbacks of excessive, senseless spending. It\u2019s obvious that you and a lot of people understand this is unsustainable. So the question for you is: Why are the Democrats doing it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No. Do you have an answer?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Why are they doing this?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Why are they doing it? They know just as well as you do how it\u2019s unsustainable, how it\u2019s unsupportable. It can\u2019t work. Why are they doing it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: To be honest with you, they\u2019re cutting off their nose to spite their face. <\/p>\n

RUSH: (sigh) No. They\u2019re doing it on purpose.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But aren\u2019t they gonna be in the barrel with everybody else?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, but they don\u2019t know that, and they don\u2019t realize that, and they\u2019re not… No, actually they don\u2019t think they\u2019re gonna be in the barrel with everybody else.<\/p>\n

CALLER: When is reality gonna hit? <\/p>\n

RUSH: Pffft!<\/p>\n

CALLER: How long is it gonna take?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t know what you —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I mean, we\u2019re there now.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t know what you mean by reality. <\/p>\n

CALLER: They don\u2019t live in the real world if they think that they can keep spending like they and keep on spending. You can\u2019t even do that in your own private life. I mean, how do these people balance their checkbook at home?<\/p>\n

RUSH: They… (sigh) Look, I\u2019m running out of time here and I\u2019m trying to figure out where you\u2019re coming from on this because you sound like you\u2019re just discovering what they\u2019re doing. You\u2019ve been paying attention a lot longer than just recently, right?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m 63 years old, and I\u2019m watching our country go in the toilet.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right. Okay. My only point to you is: So are they, and they know that they\u2019re the ones driving it there — and the answer to your question is they don\u2019t care, because to them, when this is all finished, they have newfound power.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, but what good is that power if we\u2019re broke?<\/p>\n

RUSH: The only survivors left to fix it all. Well, if you hate capitalism you have to destroy it first. They do, and they\u2019re trying. That\u2019s the point.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
