CALLER: Thanks, Rush. Actually it\u2019s ‘Brady,\u2019 but that\u2019s okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Brady?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Sorry about that. There\u2019s no Y here. <\/p>\n

CALLER: (chuckles)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Obviously a call screener input error.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, no, no, that\u2019s fine. (chuckles) It\u2019s a pleasure to talk with you today, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You bet.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I wanted to talk about this declaration by the administration, the Justice Department, saying that the Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional. And I was asking myself, ‘Why do it now?\u2019 and I thought about it, and it sounds to me… My thought is that the administration might be trying to set up a trap for conservatives. And it\u2019s based on something that you\u2019ve talked about for years, and it has to do with how a lot of the — so many of the — blue-bloods in the Republican Party have always said, ‘If we could just get these conservatives to let go of the social issues, we could win elections.\u2019<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But if you look at conservative leaders both in the House and then at the state level, particularly with these governors in the Midwest and the way they\u2019ve exposed the public sector union monopolies and the way they\u2019re laser focused on economic and fiscal issues right now, and I just wonder if the administration is trying to do this to get conservatives off track of what they\u2019re doing, what they were elected to do to try to get them focused on social issues again and say, ‘You see? They\u2019re not focused on the economy.\u2019 You see where I\u2019m coming from?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, there may be some of that, but if that\u2019s their calculation, it\u2019s falling, because the reaction to it is not the substance. People\u2019s reaction is the lawlessness. The conservative reaction is, ‘This is brazenly lawless. Who cares what he has determined he\u2019s not gonna defend. It\u2019s lawless.\u2019 There are any number of ways Obama could have done this. He could have, for example, assigned the most inept lawyers in the Justice Department to do these cases when they come up and lose every one of them. He could have done this in a way that nobody would have ever known it. He could have just made sure that this act never amounted to anything by making sure he always lost. In other words, throw the game they go to court with this case in question. <\/p>\n

But, no! He makes a big production out of saying, ‘I am the law. This isn\u2019t because I don\u2019t like it.\u2019 I haven\u2019t seen a whole bunch of social conservatives get distracted from Wisconsin, because that\u2019s as much social as it is economic. It\u2019s what their kids are being taught. So it\u2019s an interesting thought, but if that\u2019s their strategery, it isn\u2019t gonna work. Because the people who are up in arms about it, such as moi, are not up in arms about it because it\u2019s got to do with gay marriage. It\u2019s because it\u2019s lawless. A president does not have this kind of power. That\u2019s why I went through my whole routine. <\/p>\n

Imagine President Palin instructing her attorney general to not defend Roe v. Wade anymore; she doesn\u2019t like it. Imagine President Palin without a birth certificate. Imagine President Palin telling her attorney general, ‘These EPA rules, don\u2019t defend \u2019em anymore. I don\u2019t believe in \u2019em.\u2019 Just go on down the line. Everything that Obama\u2019s done, this DOMA thing is not an isolated instance of lawlessness. Imagine if the law of the land… Well, let\u2019s just say the law of the land is no drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and President Palin comes along and tells her attorney general, ‘We\u2019re gonna start drilling, we\u2019re not gonna defend any of these cases. Start drilling,\u2019 in defiance of the law. Imagine! <\/p>\n

They would be on the case for her impeachment, and that would be all you would see in the headlines. So they may be thinking they could distract people from Wisconsin by going after this — and I don\u2019t doubt that you have a point here because I think they totally misunderstand the social issues crowd. I do think that they would that if they do something like this that tantamount says, ‘We\u2019re all for gay marriage\u2019 that the social crowd will drop everything and focus on this and dilute what\u2019s going on in Wisconsin, Ohio, the budget and everything else. It isn\u2019t gonna work. Isn\u2019t working. It hasn\u2019t happened and it won\u2019t, won\u2019t be the case. But it\u2019s still good thinking. Shows you\u2019re paying attention out there. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. To use one of your favorite quotes, and I could hear you saying this, ‘Do not doubt me when I say what America\u2019s witnessing right now is a historic wake-up call, which is a systematic basic destruction of our country,\u2019 and this president and his cronies are using our republic against the will of the people, from all fronts. And I think he\u2019s underestimated the resolve of the true patriots in our country.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Mmmm… I don\u2019t think he\u2019s underestimated the resolve of his opposition at all. I don\u2019t think he cares.<\/p>\n

CALLER: He wants dissension. I think it\u2019s pretty obvious.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, there\u2019s no question he wants that. He loves the disunity. He loves the chaos. He loves all of this because at the end of the day people are gonna be turning to him to fix it all. At the end of the day people are gonna be going to government, ‘Here, you gotta solve this! You gotta solve this! You gotta. You gotta get involved here, gotta solve this.\u2019 Any requests for more federal involvement he would, of course, crave.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And I think he\u2019s working with groups overseas in tandem with them for the destruction within our country.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Like what groups?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I would say things like the radical Islamic groups, even domestic terrorist groups, like CODEPINK and some of those.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Why do you think that?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I think the writing\u2019s on the wall, and, you know, the media\u2019s doing a good job avoiding the issues. With the exception of, you know, right-wing radio and talk shows, they\u2019re not getting to the truth of the matter. And that\u2019s what\u2019s alarming, because I don\u2019t think when it\u2019s all said and done, several of these groups are not gonna have what they thought they would get in the end.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I know that\u2019s always been the case but I they don\u2019t want to get to the truth of the matter. They\u2019re part of the whole cabal. They call themselves journalists or call themselves the media; they\u2019re just another group of leftists and they are all aligned. Here\u2019s the thing: I don\u2019t think Obama needs to have any alliances with foreign groups to do what he\u2019s doing. If that\u2019s going on, that\u2019s news to me. I just think he\u2019s an agitator. He just loves to agitate. He\u2019s got a chip on his shoulder about this country. The evidence is there.
