RUSH: Here\u2019s Rumsfeld. This is Piers Morgan last night on CNN. Morgan says, ‘On 9\/11 you didn\u2019t call your wife?\u2019<\/p>\n

RUMSFELD: Of course it\u2019s true. Torie Clarke said, ‘Have you called Mrs. R.?\u2019 And I said, ‘No,\u2019 and she said, ‘You son-of-a-bitch,\u2019 and I said, ‘Well, you may have a point.\u2019<\/p>\n

MORGAN: Why didn\u2019t you?<\/p>\n

RUMSFELD: Well, I was busy! My goodness gracious! The building was burning. They were still pulling people out of the building. It was a terrible, tragic day for our country. She knew where I was. She\u2019s terrific. She\u2019s lived with me for 56 years now as my wife. When people say, ‘How could you stay married to him for 56 years,\u2019 she says, ‘He travels a lot.\u2019<\/p>\n

RUSH: There you have it. That\u2019s Rumsfeld. Very mature answer: His wife knows where he is, he\u2019s in the Pentagon. The only problem is the thing just got blown up and he says he\u2019s still in the Pentagon. But after 56 years, wife might not care, you know, whether… (laughing) I\u2019m just kidding, Dawn. Understand it\u2019s been a long three hours. I\u2019m just teasing here. So Morgan says, ‘Some odd things here, odd things. If you emerge from this book, one is you\u2019ve always liked to work standing up.\u2019<\/p>\n

MORGAN: It\u2019s very odd!<\/p>\n

RUMSFELD: (laughing) It\u2019s not. <\/p>\n

MORGAN: To me.<\/p>\n

RUMSFELD: It\u2019s perfectly normal.<\/p>\n

MORGAN: It\u2019s not normal.<\/p>\n

RUMSFELD: I wonder why people sit down all the time.<\/p>\n

MORGAN: I don\u2019t know anybody else in the history of employment —<\/p>\n

RUMSFELD: Oh, come on!<\/p>\n

MORGAN: — standing up.<\/p>\n

RUMSFELD: There\u2019s all kinds of naval officers who do it. They have stand-up desks.<\/p>\n

MORGAN: Really?<\/p>\n

RUMSFELD: Of course! I mean, I didn\u2019t invent them. Thomas Jefferson had a stand-up desk. Why did you act like that\u2019s odd? <\/p>\n

MORGAN: It\u2019s just weird.<\/p>\n

RUMSFELD: It\u2019s not weird at all. Sitting is weird!<\/p>\n

MORGAN: (cackling)<\/p>\n

RUMSFELD: I can\u2019t imagine why you do it.<\/p>\n

MORGAN: Sitting is not weird! <\/p>\n

RUMSFELD: (laughing)<\/p>\n

MORGAN: You still get up a 4:30 in the morning to go workout? <\/p>\n

RUMSFELD: I do.<\/p>\n

MORGAN: You\u2019re 78 years old! Isn\u2019t it time to just take a rest?<\/p>\n

RUMSFELD: Well, no. Why would one want to do that? <\/p>\n
