RUSH: Now we move on to Marco Rubio, who, by the way, lost his voice this afternoon. I guess he was in South Carolina. Not South Carolina. Where was he? He was some place stumping with Nikki Haley. That\u2019s why I think he lost his voice. But he was very courageous. He said even though he lost his voice he was gonna keep talking for America. But before he lost his voice, Roanoke, Virginia, last night.<\/p>\n

RUBIO: He\u2019s always calling me “little Marco.” And I\u2019ll admit, he\u2019s taller than me. He\u2019s like 6\u20192, which is why I don\u2019t understand why his hands are the size of someone who\u2019s 5\u20192. Have you seen his hands? They\u2019re like this. And you know what they say about men with small hands. You can\u2019t trust them.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Whoa. And now people are ringing their hands talking about the depths to which the Republican campaign has sunk. “Why, why, we can\u2019t believe it has sunk to this kind of bathroom parlor humor. This is so beneath everyone. Why in the world is this happening,” and so forth. “The Republican campaign has been reduced to stand-up comedy routines” and so forth. <\/line><\/p>\n

Well, whatever it is, it has people fired up. It has people reacting like they never have. People are saying they\u2019ve never seen a political season like this, and they consider it exciting. I think that the people wringing their hands over all this still do not get the mood of the American people. They still don\u2019t get it. This disconnect — and I think it\u2019s huge and deep — it must be even bigger and deeper than I even suspect. <\/p>\n

Here is Trump, by the way. Now, they\u2019ve accused Trump of retweeting a Mussolini quote. Did you hear about this? (interruption) Oh, yeah. He did. Somebody sent Trump a quote that he thought looked good; so he retweeted it. It turns out to have been something Mussolini said. So here we go: Meet the Press, Chuck Todd yesterday. “There is a trending retweet of yours,” Mr. Trump. (laughing) Excuse me. “You retweeted somebody from @IlDuce2016.” (laughing) @IlDuce2016! Well, they might not know that Il Duce was what Mussolini was called. “It was a Mussolini quote but you didn\u2019t know it was Mussolini when you retweeted it. It said, ‘It is better to live one day as a lion than 100 years as a sheep.\u2019 It\u2019s a famous Mussolini quote; you retweeted it. Do you like the quote? Did you know it was Mussolini?”<\/p>\n

TRUMP: It\u2019s okay to know it\u2019s Mussolini. Look, Mussolini was Mussolini. That\u2019s okay. It\u2019s a very good quote. It\u2019s a very interesting quote, and I saw — I saw what — and I know who said it. Uh, but what difference does it make whether it\u2019s Mussolini or somebody else? It\u2019s certainly a very interesting quote.<\/p>\n

TODD: Do you want to be associated with a fascist?<\/p>\n

TRUMP: No, I want to be associated with interesting quotes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing) You want to be…? (laughing) “Look, it\u2019s okay! It\u2019s okay to know it\u2019s Mussolini. Look. Mussolini was Mussolini, okay? It\u2019s okay. It\u2019s a very good quote. It\u2019s an interesting quote. Who cares it comes from Mussolini?” (laughing) “You don\u2019t mind being associated with a fascist?” (laughing) “No, I want to be associated with interesting quotes.”<\/p>\n
