You want to try to understand why some people are loved and adored and you don\u2019t understand it, you think they\u2019re brilliant and nobody gives a shout. People don\u2019t remember what you say. Too many words are flying around. But they never forget how you make them feel. That\u2019s a singular thing. Never forget that. <\/p>\n

RUSH: This is Jim in Corydon, Indiana. Great to have you on the program. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hello, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: How do you…? What is the name of your town? How do you pronounce where you\u2019re from?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Corydon.<\/p>\n

RUSH: “Corydon.” Okay. Great.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, I was told to get right to the point. You have spent a month or so talking nothing but exclusively Trump. I was just wondering maybe if you could maybe cut half the time and talk about Cruz and his fine points of becoming the president of the United States.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I\u2019m not sure your estimate of the time there is accurate. I\u2019ve spent… You know, after yesterday\u2019s program I went back and looked at the quantity of things I\u2019ve said about Ted Cruz and the quality of things I\u2019ve said about Ted Cruz, and I\u2019m wondering: What are the complaints? The only thing that explains it is that some people must not have heard, I guess. I don\u2019t know. It\u2019s a mystery. But yesterday\u2019s program created this illusion that I don\u2019t talk about anybody but Trump. I went back and I looked, not only at how much I\u2019ve mentioned Cruz and Rubio, but what I have said about them.<\/line><\/p>\n

And it is why, by the way, I\u2019ve remembered something that I had heard long ago, in trying to explain the way people react to various things, and I mentioned it just a moment ago: “The people don\u2019t remember what you say. They remember how you make them feel.” Especially in a universe where words are being launched from all kinds of places — so many words, it\u2019s impossible to hear them all, impossible to remember anywhere near all of them. But you do remember how you feel when somebody says something, either once or a multiplicity of times. It\u2019s, frankly, one of the most frustrating things about this job. And I\u2019m not complaining. I\u2019m simply illustrating.<\/p>\n
