RUSH: Turning to the Republican presidential primary, two stories on the same data. “Trump Leads, Carson Fades in National Poll<\/a>.” That\u2019s from TheHill.com. CNN: “Trump Leads as Carson Fade<\/a>s — Donald Trump continues to hold a commanding national lead over the field of Republican contenders, as Ben Carson falls back into the pack, according to a new poll.<\/p>\n

“A Quinnipiac University survey released Wednesday finds Trump taking 27 percent support, a 10-point lead over the next closest contender. That\u00c2\u2019s a slight increase for Trump, who stood at 24 percent in the same poll from last month. ‘It doesn\u00c2\u2019t seem to matter what he says or who he offends, whether the facts are contested or the “political correctness” is challenged, Donald Trump seems to be wearing Kevlar,\u2019 said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.”<\/p>\n

He has now doubled down on his “tens of thousands of Muslims cheering on 9\/11” comment. And they have found even more evidence. They have found even more reporting, ladies and gentlemen, that the Drive-Bys ignored about Trump and his comments. I don\u2019t have it in the current Stack right in front of me, but there is another instance of media reporting talk about a bunch of people on rooftops cheering the twin towers going down. It is the third separate media report that\u2019s now been found. <\/line><\/p>\n

Rubio, in the Quinnipiac poll, is in second place, 17%. Ben Carson has dropped seven points in the last poll. Rubio and Cruz have each gained three points. Jeb Bush is in a distant fifth place, with 5%. Jeb Bush recently said — and I can\u2019t believe this. This is one of the things I had yesterday in the Stack that I didn\u2019t get to. And it wasn\u2019t on purpose. You know, I do things as I feel them. And for some reason I chose other things over some other things, and the Jeb Bush thing was one thing that I glossed over, and it was this. It was a story from, I think over the Thanksgiving weekend, might have been Jeb appearing in a Sunday show. <\/p>\n

He actually said that it is important to elect somebody who can work with the Democrats to get things done, to form consensus so that legislation can be passed and signed into law. And others echoed Jeb. They\u2019re saying, “Yeah, we\u2019ve just had seven years of a petulant, immature president who refused to work with the opposition, and we see the damage. And we don\u2019t need another four years of a megalomaniac who refuses to work with the opposition.” And Jeb is holding himself out as the one guy in the Republican field that could do it. You talk about tone deaf? <\/p>\n

Furthermore, are we really supposed to sit here and believe that the reason Obama has been able to get away with all that he\u2019s gotten away with is because the Republicans did not work with him? Are you kidding me? Seriously? The rap on Obama is that he did not work with the other side, he refused to cooperate, he didn\u2019t get consensus, and therefore we don\u2019t need another four or eight years like this? Who in the world who thinks like that still has a job? For crying out loud. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Here it is. This is what I was talking about. It\u2019s audio sound bite number 14. By the way, Rudy Giuliani is backing Trump up as well. “Ah, Trump\u2019s exaggerating, but it happened. It happened.” Trump has doubled down on it, which is Trump\u2019s trademark. Trump says something and the Drive-Bys go, “My God, I can\u2019t believe you said that! You didn\u2019t mean that. You can\u2019t get away with saying that! You can\u2019t prove that!” Trump says, “Oh, yeah? Well, try this,” and doubles down on it and sends \u2019em into pure apoplexy. <\/p>\n

(interruption) Is that good or bad you remember Pablo Guzman? (interruption) Well, he was a standard fixture of local news. I have other memories of the guy, but they\u2019re irrelevant to this. Anyway, Pablo Guzman who was a street reporter, Channel 2 Eyewitness News in New York. On September 16th, he\u2019s reporting about police and FBI investigators raiding a Jersey City, New Jersey, apartment building where people were celebrating the 9\/11 attacks. Imagine that.<\/p>\n
