RUSH: Hey, how are you, Adam?<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s an honor to speak with you. Great, great honor to speak with you. Thank you so much for taking my call. I really appreciate it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You bet.<\/p>\n

\"original\"CALLER: I\u2019m curious how to respond to friends and acquaintances I have on social media who immediately equate any form of being careful with the influx of Syrian refugees to racism and xenophobia. There\u2019s not even an intelligent conversation.<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: I know. You\u2019ve gotta get out of the sewer there, Adam. <\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m sorry?<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re in a sewer. You know, the old argument, you never get into an argument with a fool because after a while people can\u2019t tell who\u2019s who.<\/p>\n

CALLER: They\u2019ll drag you down and beat you with experience, huh?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Not drag you down. It\u2019s just you\u2019re never gonna change their mind about anything. The thing that I would do if I encountered something like this, always make them site. So you got your liberal friends saying anybody trying to stop the refugees is xenophobic or racist. First off have \u2019em name names, and then ask them to explain the virtues of the refugees. Make them demonstrate what they actually don\u2019t know. <\/p>\n

And then demonstrate that all they\u2019re doing is emoting. And then shame them. Shame them for being so uninformed, for being so malleable, so subject to propaganda, and blame them for posing a great threat. Their attitudes are putting this country at great risk. Just don\u2019t ever go on defense with them, Adam. Just always stay on offense. Do not grant them any moral superiority. You make \u2019em prove it, demo it, hang on. Not through here. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: I wanted to go back to Adam in Hollywood. He\u2019s still… Adam, you\u2019re still there, right?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I am.<\/p>\n

RUSH: How do you normally deal with it? You\u2019ve got these… You\u2019re dealing genuinely here with… Look, I want to be honest but charitable at the same time. You\u2019re dealing with genuinely ignorant people here. You\u2019re dealing with provocateurs, and you\u2019re dealing with people that are arrogant and condescending and think that they are morally superior when they can\u2019t… Adam, they can\u2019t hold a candle to you. Whatever you do, do not get defensive. Do not ever allow them to occupy position where you feel like you have to prove what you believe or your decency or your goodness. That\u2019s all they\u2019re trying to do, is position you as morally inferior to them.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: However you choose to deal with them, stay above them. Demand names, demand evidence, if you want to engage \u2019em. I would un-like \u2019em, if I were you. But if you want to have fun with it, how do you deal with it yourself?<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, what I usually do, I mean, I like to cite news articles but I don\u2019t like to pull the conservative publications because, you know, that\u2019s the answer right there, that you already have a slant. So I try to pull our side from ABC News. You know, that\u2019s a different liberal news sources, and when you post, like, a liberal news site, the immediate response is insults and name-calling, not even an intelligent response to the cited source.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, of course. That\u2019s all they\u2019ve got. They\u2019re not there to debate ideas with you, Adam. They don\u2019t think they should have to. You are inferior. Their superiority in their own mind — and, actually, they don\u2019t feel superior. These are actually a bunch of sick reprobates. But the fact is that they\u2019re trying to feel superior to you, and, as such, they never have to prove anything. They never have to explain anything, never have to justify anything. You\u2019re the one who does. That\u2019s why it\u2019s… Now, if you want to take this on as an object lesson in persuasion and try various techniques, then that would be cool, just to see if you can pull it off. But don\u2019t get dragged down in the mud with these people. These are pigs, and pigs like the mud.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Great. Awesome. Thank you for the advice. I really appreciate it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait. I\u2019m not through here. If you want to get specific… Like, what do they say? Give me an example, like, they call you or anybody else a xenophobe or a racist if they oppose the Syrian refugees.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019ll give you a great example. I\u2019m Jewish. Half of my family was murdered in the gas chambers. So the first thing they want to throw at me is the SS St. Louis.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I mean, where is the connection?<\/p>\n

RUSH: They actually throw the SS St. Louis?<\/a> That proves to me these people are doing nothing but regurgitating a bunch of garbage that they\u2019re reading. I\u2019ll guarantee you 90% of them don\u2019t even know what the SS St. Louis is. But here\u2019s what you tell \u2019em. It\u2019s very simple. Jewish people are an ethnicity. Syrian people are a nationality. We\u2019re talking about people from nation versus a religion. There\u2019s no… The Jewish people were not attempting to populate countries for the purposes of conducting jihad, like Islamists, the militant Islamic jihadists are. <\/p>\n

That is actually a profound insult, for these people to try to compare them, and the SS St. Louis was a ship, Jewish people from Germany trying to leave, and they were not accepted, not allowed to land in Florida. They were not allowed to dock in Florida. I saw a movie about this when I was too young to know what it was, and I was 10- or 12-years-old. It was one of the most boring movies I\u2019ve ever seen because I didn\u2019t understand it.<\/line><\/p>\n

But that movie did not try to make the claim that the people interpreting it today are. They\u2019re trying to draw moral equivalence to United States then to the United States now, and the best thing to tell them is a generic thing. You need to tell these clowns the United States of America is not the problem. The United States of America is the solution. It\u2019s people like those that you\u2019re talking to are the problem. They pose a grave danger and threaten to the future existence of the country. And that\u2019s… If I were you, I would tell \u2019em that and then unfriend \u2019em or dislike them or whatever you do.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Great. Great.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m not kidding. I\u2019m not kidding, Adam, because you\u2019re not ever going to… None of these people, not a one of them is ever gonna say to you, “You know what? You\u2019re right. Thank you.” They exist for one reason only, and that\u2019s to dispirit you, depress you, make you mad. They\u2019re sick. They\u2019re not psychologically all there. Twitter has become a home, certain sewers of Twitter have become homes to people like this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, no, this is Facebook. I don\u2019t deal with Twitter at all.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, six of one, half dozen of the other.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) You\u2019re right. You\u2019re right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They just got more characters at Facebook to write their drivel.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And it\u2019s a lot easier to post a meme with a bunch of words illustrating a point than it is on Twitter.<\/p>\n

RUSH: There you go. Okay, true. The point is to have fun with it. But whatever you do, whatever, do not ever — I\u2019m talking about within yourself. Do not ever assume a defensive posture or an inferior posture to these people, especially when and if you interact with \u2019em. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you, Rush. You\u2019re a great American. Thank you for having me on.<\/p>\n

RUSH: (chuckles) Thank you, sir, very much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I just wanted to piggyback on an earlier conversation you had with Adam. I\u2019ll make it quick. But I think a lot of people in your audience, myself included, do have a lot of social media interactions with people on Facebook, and all the strategies that I\u2019ve learned — because I do it kind of for fun, talk to these libs — is you gotta hit \u2019em with facts, and there\u2019s so many of \u2019em out there, and that\u2019s just really the only way you can overcome their objection. Like you said early, you cannot be defenseless. The Republican —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait, wait. Slow down just a minute. Are you saying that you can overcome them with facts? Do you like talking to them out there on Facebook and so forth? Is that what you —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Absolutely.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You do?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I have four kids so I can\u2019t allow this kind of propaganda to be disseminated without any kind of push-back. I just think we\u2019re too passive as conservatives and we allow them to put this stuff out there and for it to be absorbed by people, and that\u2019s just not the way we\u2019re gonna overcome it.<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I agree with that. The passivity is no good. So you take \u2019em out and be how do you…? How do you push back with specificity? What do you — and do you actually get concessions from these people that they were wrong?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, their silence is a concession, and that\u2019s really what drives me \u2019cause after a while, all day it\u2019s crickets. You don\u2019t hear anything from \u2019em anymore, they back off, and they move on. So that\u2019s the defeat, when they stop talking their nonsense. Because if you let them, they\u2019ll keep going and going and going and stating these opinions as facts, these emotional outbursts that they have as facts. And once you give them actually facts, then they become quiet and they may move on, and then no longer can decimate the propaganda. So that\u2019s what we have going.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I\u2019m glad you\u2019ve found that to be the case. In our interactions with them we have found that their silence does not mean acquiescence. We have found they retreat and they refocus their efforts elsewhere, when they find out that you don\u2019t accept it and you push back, leave you alone and move on down the line. Because what they\u2019re ultimately aiming to do is pervert and pollute and corrupt as many people and their opinions as possible. <\/p>\n

So if you are able, in your push-back, to appear to any and all who are watching, to slam them and break them, then of course they\u2019re gonna leave you alone, and they\u2019re gonna try to pretend you don\u2019t exist anymore. But, look, I admire what you\u2019re doing. Don\u2019t misunderstand. I love the push-back. That\u2019s why I was telling Adam, “Whatever you do, if you decide to engage with these people, you always stay superior to \u2019em. You do not accept any premise they put forward that puts you on defense. Don\u2019t accept any premise, but certainly don\u2019t ever go on defensive.<\/p>\n

“Don\u2019t think you have to justify or explain yourself to these people \u2019cause it\u2019s the other way around. They\u2019re the ones that don\u2019t know diddly-squat about what they\u2019re talking about.” And… (interruption) Well, and of course laugh at \u2019em, but how? It\u2019s hard to convey laughter on Facebook. You can do it, but, yeah, laughing at \u2019em and getting other people to join you in mocking them and laughing at \u2019em? I mean, ridiculing? That is, perhaps, the deepest slice of all, is succeeding in ridiculing these people as the Nimrods that they are.<\/p>\n

So don\u2019t misunderstand. I admire the effort, the push-back, particularly if you\u2019re having fun with it. That in itself is going to be infectious and will inspire other people to try it. The problem with the left is, they\u2019re fact-proof. They\u2019re not dealing in fact. You can hit \u2019em with fact after fact, stat after stat. That\u2019s not what they\u2019re talking about. They have their own facts — and really, their opinions are their facts, and yours don\u2019t sway them at all. Maybe you do when they go silent. That\u2019s great, if that happens.
