RUSH: Mother Jones<\/a>, of all places, is warning Democrats: you had better start faking that you are concerned about national security, otherwise we are going to get creamed. They mean politically. And, by the way, if you\u2019re on hold, hang in there. We got a lot of great callers on the roster, too. This is one of those frustrating days I\u2019m not gonna be able to get to everything I want to do. But I\u2019m gonna try to get to as many and as much in as I can. Let me give you a pull quote from the Mother Jones article. “Mother Jones, Rush, that\u2019s not TIME Magazine. That\u2019s not the New York Times.” Don\u2019t care. It is pop culture liberalism. <\/p>\n

From the article, “Mocking Republicans over this,” meaning this Syrian refugee controversy, “Mocking Republicans over this — as liberals spent much of yesterday doing on my Twitter stream — seems absurdly out of touch to a lot of people. Not just wingnut Tea Partiers, either, but plenty of ordinary centrists too. It makes them wonder if Democrats seriously see no problem here. Do they care at all about national security? Are they really that detached from reality?”<\/line><\/p>\n

This is Mother Jones. So I think if the Democrats keep on and the Republicans win big in November next year, this is one of the things they\u2019re gonna look back to as one of the reasons to explain it. You know, a perplexed and curious press unable to understand how whoever it is wins in a landslide, “God, what happened?” they\u2019re gonna say, “What? We didn\u2019t see this.” And somebody, “You know, go back to the Syrian refugee crisis, take a look some of the things the president was saying. That\u2019s what this is.” <\/p>\n

This is a Wellstone memorial type event happening here and these Democrats are just off the charts and they do make it look like they don\u2019t have a single concern for national security at all. And common sense, no matter your political orientation, common sense dictates a concern over this. <\/p>\n

Here\u2019s more from the story. “The liberal response to this should be far more measured. We should support tight screening. Never mind that screening is already pretty tight. We should highlight the fact that we\u2019re accepting a pretty modest number of refugees. In general, we should act like this is a legitimate thing to be concerned about and then work from there. Mocking it is the worst thing we could do.”<\/p>\n

Well, Mother Jones, you may be on to something, but you\u2019re gonna have to get hold of Josh Earnest or somebody at the White House, \u2019cause the chief mocker is the president. The president is mocking, and he\u2019s leading the mocking, and he\u2019s inspiring all of this mocking everywhere else in the Democrat Party. <\/p>\n

More Mother Jones:<\/a> “It validates all the worst stereotypes about liberals that we put political correctness ahead of national security.” So Mother Jones is saying here that liberals have to pretend to care about national security while they get their way. Don\u2019t misunderstand — and I\u2019m not being fooled here — Mother Jones is not saying we gotta change our opinion on this. We gotta fake it. We have got to make it look like we care about national security. And the way to do that is stop making fun of these wingnuts. That\u2019s their advice to all you people on Twitter and all you people on Facebook and the other social media sewers out there, just stop making fun of Republicans over this, \u2019cause if you don\u2019t we\u2019re gonna be in trouble. You\u2019ve gotta act like you care about national security, too. Meanwhile, do everything you can to get every refugee in the country \u2019cause we know they\u2019re gonna vote Democrat, but aside that, you gotta fake it. You can\u2019t make fun of these. We\u2019re gonna in big, big trouble. <\/p>\n

<\/a>Here\u2019s the way they wrap it at Mother Jones: “It doesn\u2019t matter if that\u2019s right or wrong. Ordinary people see the refugees as a common sense thing to be concerned about. We shouldn\u2019t respond by essentially calling them idiots. That way lies electoral disaster.” Mother Jones is right. It\u2019s gonna be very tough for this to happen because Obama and Luis Gutierrez and John Kerry, hell, all of them think we are idiots. They think every bitter clinger is an idiot. They think every devoutly religious Christian is an idiot. They think every Reaganite conservative is an idiot. And so it\u2019s a big job to fake that you don\u2019t think people are idiots. <\/p>\n

Let me just put it to you this way. If there were polling data — it\u2019s a hypothetical — if there were polling data that Islamic refugees voted Republican 80% of the time, they wouldn\u2019t be getting into the country. They wouldn\u2019t get near the hemisphere. They wouldn\u2019t get near the ocean, if the immigrants voted Republican. Same thing with the illegal immigrants from the southern border. If they voted Republican, no way would there be a mad dash to have them enter the country. <\/p>\n

Now, one thing and then a break then we get back to the phone calls. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Bob in Coronado Island, California. Great to have you, sir. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hello, Rush. How could we trust our government to properly vet the Syrian refugees when we look at our government\u2019s track record last summer on the southern border. They literally lost track of thousands of people who failed to self-report. They allowed sanctuary cities to be formed, and allowed felonies to be ignored. I think this is gonna fail. It\u2019ll fail very predictably, and the fallout is unimaginable.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s designed to fail. You know, Bob, you\u2019re actually right on the money here, all of these kids flooding the country. We can\u2019t find the 11 million in the shadows, and yet all the evidence that we have suggests the government\u2019s incompetent and incapable of anything like this, and yet when we question their ability to do it right with these refugees, we\u2019re laughed at, we\u2019re mocked, we\u2019re made fun of. The left unites in starting to criticize their own country and their own citizens when in fact they don\u2019t have a leg of competence to even stand on here in this. <\/p>\n

You\u2019re entirely correct. The responsible thing to do is to be suspicious. The responsible thing to do is doubt the federal government and not only their ability, but what they\u2019re saying about it. They\u2019ve lied to us countless times before and there\u2019s no evidence and reason to suggest that they\u2019re not lying to us now. So you\u2019re absolutely right. But they\u2019re trying to portray attitudes like yours as dangerously jingoistic, nationalistic, xenophobic, racist, sexist, bigoted, homophobic, and too many other Americans agree with you, and that\u2019s a problem. And again, just to close the loop, a bunch of Democrats are starting to worry now that this is all over the top, that way, way more than just Republicans are suspicious of this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, I think the tipping point might have been reached a couple days earlier. I mean, I literally was shocked at Bernie Sanders\u2019 comment that climate change is directly related to terrorism, a day after those attacks, and I can\u2019t believe he wasn\u2019t shouted down by the audience or by the other two people on the stage. I mean, that\u2019s a joke. We\u2019re supposed to accept that as fact? I mean, to me, Republicans are gonna have a nice landslide.<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you would hope, but I have to tell you on that, you obviously would be shocked. Bernie Sanders is nowhere near the first person to say this. This has been a Democrat refrain for years. They added terrorism to their global warming refrain a couple, three years ago. This is nothing new. It may just be the first time you\u2019ve heard it, but you\u2019d be stunned at the number of run-of-the-mill, average, ordinary everyday Democrats who believe that. Democrats running around: “Our number one threat posing the world today, facing the world today is climate change.” You\u2019d be amazed at the number of young intellectuals, young journalists, tech bloggers, you name it, all over the country, Hollywood people who literally think that\u2019s true.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not an oddball position on the left. Oddball defined as a view held by a very tiny few. That view is pretty widely held, that global warming is the biggest — Obama goes out and says so. Obama said so last week or two weeks ago. The president says it, and they believe everything he says. Now, average, ordinary Americans I think they laugh and so forth, but we\u2019re more incredulous, like you are, that it\u2019s not laughed out of the arena whenever it\u2019s stated. <\/p>\n

But there\u2019s a reason, a psychological reason why they believe it. It gives them comfort. You know, that belief gives them meaning. That belief that global warming is the single greatest threat we face, that makes all these people who believe that think their lives will have meaning because they think there\u2019s something they can do and support that will stop it. And that\u2019s why it\u2019s so successful with this bunch of Nimrods.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here\u2019s Miles in DuBois, Pennsylvania. Great to have you, sir. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: How you doing?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Very good. Very good. Are you flattered that I knew how to pronounce the town you live? Most hosts would have said, “DuBois,” but I know it\u2019s not DuBois. It\u2019s DuBois.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s French. It\u2019s DuBois.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s exactly right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. Hey, first-time caller. I\u2019ve listened to you for a long time. I really believe what you\u2019re doing.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you very much.<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: Our governor, that\u2019s what I really wanted to raise hell about. He\u2019s been trying to… I\u2019m a friend with a senator and a representative from this area, and this governor opened the doors to the refugees. I do not believe in that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, so\u2019d the governor Colorado.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Huh?<\/p>\n

RUSH: The governor Colorado said to any state, “You don\u2019t want \u2019em? We\u2019ll take \u2019em.”<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m for it. You know, he\u2019s tried to shove other stuff down our throats, and I do not believe in it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Why do you seriously think he\u2019s doing it, Miles?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I think it\u2019s… You know what side he\u2019s on. I live in rural Pennsylvania, and he\u2019s followed Obama and Hillary, their side. He wants the big cities that we have, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh. That\u2019s what he\u2019s trying to do.<\/p>\n

RUSH: He\u2019s agreeing to accept future Democrat voters. That\u2019s what this is. Plus, in his mind I\u2019m sure he gets the monopoly on compassion and caring, which would be a big deal to him. I would posit that it\u2019s party loyalty as much as anything else.
