RUSH: Frank in Waco, Texas. It\u2019s great to have you, sir. I\u2019m glad you waited. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, I\u2019m so excited I got through. Twenty-plus-year dittos. I wanted to tell you what I\u2019m doing with your books.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, great. Okay, thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I\u2019m reading them to my grandkids, but here\u2019s the deal. I\u2019m in Waco, Texas, my grandkids are in Seattle, Washington. So what I\u2019m doing is recording myself reading them. And actually I just have your first book so far, but what I\u2019m gonna do is for Christmas they\u2019re gonna get your book along with the flash drive with a recording of me reading, so every night, before they go to bed they can just click on the next chapter or whatever and hear me reading the books to \u2019em.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So you actually get the book, you read the book, you send them the recording that you have made reading the book.<\/p>\n

<\/a>CALLER: Right. I know you have your own audio version, but I wanted it to be from me.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I understand that. Have you thought about reading the book to them over the phone?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, yeah, but there\u2019s a time difference of two hours from where we live and they are, and just schedules and stuff, it doesn\u2019t work out well.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, all right. Do you have a cell phone like an iPhone or an iPad or anything like that and do they?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I have an iPhone, not an iPad. I think they have an iPad.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right. Well, there is a feature on the iPhone and the iPad called FaceTime.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Do you know what it is?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I know what it is, yeah. It\u2019s just hard to get the scheduling down.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, okay, so it\u2019s a scheduling thing?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I admire — this is profound effort. Don\u2019t misunderstand. I mean, I know you want them to hear the book from you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yep.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And I think that\u2019s great. I think that\u2019s beautiful. That\u2019s over-the-top effort on your part, and I\u2019m sure they love hearing your voice read the book to them as well.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right, and I\u2019m enjoying do it. I\u2019m about halfway through your first book, and my goal is by Christmas to have at least two books recorded to give to them.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019ve not heard this one before, folks. I really haven\u2019t. I\u2019ve heard of, you know, reading the book in the same room, you\u2019re reading to the child in bed and so forth. But you\u2019re actually recording it on a jump drive and you\u2019re sending a flash drive to them and they get whatever they have time for and therefore time zone differences are not a problem.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wow.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And I\u2019m loving it, and they\u2019re loving it. I\u2019ve sent them a couple of previews. As I say, for Christmas I want to send them the whole book or two or whatever I have time to get through, but they\u2019re —<\/p>\n

RUSH: So right now they\u2019re on the first book, Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims<\/a>. How far into it are they?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I think we\u2019re on the third chapter.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re on the third —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I just started this, yeah.<\/p>\n
