RUSH: Joe Montana, the former quarterback, San Francisco 49ers, has weighed in on the Tom Brady Deflategate situation. You know, Tom Brady grew up analyzing Joe Montana. Joe Montana\u2019s one word, by the way. In sports, it\u2019s JoeMontana. He\u2019s unique. He\u2019s the greatest ever, JoeMontana. Always say it as one word. And JoeMontana the other day said he does think that Tom Brady is a cheater, and he thinks that\u2019s great. Joe Montana thinks it\u2019s great. Joe Montana was on an interview with Andrew Siciliano with the NFL Network. By the way, do you all know who Andrew Siciliano is? You probably don\u2019t. Do you ever watch the Red Zone on the NFL Red Zone? Andrew Siciliano is the voice. <\/p>\n

This guy talks nonstop for seven straight hours. I have yet to hear a stutter. He is ad-libbing and reacting to everything they put on the screen. He doesn\u2019t do game play-by-play because the networks provide that. But he does all of the commentary guiding the viewer to what game they\u2019re carrying, what\u2019s happening in games you\u2019re not seeing, what just happened in the game you\u2019re watching that you might not have noticed. I\u2019ve never seen anybody that\u2019s able to do this six or seven straight hours. He may take a 10-minute break during halftime or at some point in the late games, but he\u2019s just incredible. <\/line><\/p>\n

Anyway, he was the guy that interviewed JoeMontana on the NFL Network and JoeMontana said that cheating is part of the NFL, part of football. And finding any edge is what makes players and teams great. The quote from JoeMontana is, “They always say, ‘If you ain\u00c2\u2019t cheating you ain\u00c2\u2019t trying.\u2019 So they\u00c2\u2019re trying hard,” the Patriots, and I love it. <\/line><\/p>\n

“Montana has said in the past that a quarterback can tell when he picks up a football if it\u00c2\u2019s underinflated, but Montana also said that Deflategate was no big deal. That\u00c2\u2019s still how he feels. ‘You know, everybody does everything they can to possibly get a little bit of an edge. I mean, back then it wasn\u00c2\u2019t illegal but it was illegal, like our guys used to spray — and everybody did it at the time — silicone on their jerseys, the linemen, so that the defensive linemen couldn\u00c2\u2019t get a hold of them. And the defensive linemen did it so the offensive linemen couldn\u00c2\u2019t hold them.'”<\/p>\n
