CALLER: You know, the other day everyone acted like they were shocked when Donald Trump said he would run independently if the Republicans did not cooperate with it. Why would he do that this early? I think I know why he did it, and it\u2019s brilliant. See, everybody thinks that if he goes independent, that it will be another Ross Perot, and then Hillary will win. So, now that we know he\u2019ll do that and he\u2019s got the money to do it, we have to select him. I think he\u2019s got this thing. I think he\u2019s already won. I think if he doesn\u2019t do something stupid, he\u2019s got this. What do you think?<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I don\u2019t think you can say that. You can say it. I think it is way too immature. There\u2019s way too much left to happen that nobody can even imagine that — believe me, there are things that nobody will predict, that nobody could imagine that are gonna happen between now and the end of the primary process. <\/p>\n

Now, you know, this is a dual-edged sword for Trump. ‘Cause on the one hand, what did the cap say that he was wearing yesterday? “Working to make America great again.” I mean, that\u2019s why he\u2019s doing this, he\u2019s doing this to save America, make America great again. He\u2019s gotta know that if he goes third-party, the people who are not making the country great again are gonna win. They\u2019re gonna keep winning — doesn\u2019t matter if it\u2019s Hillary or if it\u2019s Martin O\u2019Malley versus Bernie — well, it\u2019s not gonna be Bernie Sanders. Just the fact that they want to keep the Export-Import Bank, that tells you right there it\u2019s not gonna be Bernie Sanders. They\u2019re not gonna let Bernie Sanders anywhere near the Democrat nomination. So it could be Biden, whoever. But whoever it is, if Trump runs as a third party, he\u2019s got to know that that\u2019s the end of the effort to make America great — Unless, there\u2019s a caveat, unless he somehow really believes that he\u2019s gonna be the first third-party candidate to win since who? Since ever? Since you can\u2019t remember the last third-party candidate to win, can you?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
