RUSH: “Nearly two weeks after 32-year-old Kathryn Steinle was murdered on San Francisco\u00c2\u2019s Pier 14 by an illegal alien and convicted felon who was released from prison earlier this year, President Barack Obama has failed to contact the victim\u00c2\u2019s family or mention her in public. Yet Obama took the time to write (and release) 46 personal letters this month to felons imprisoned for non-violent drug offenses whose sentences he has commuted.”<\/p>\n

Not only did he write those letters, he has released them. Oh, yes. <\/p>\n

“Like the 46 felons to whom Obama wrote, Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez had served time for non-violent offenses, some of them drug-related. … Critics have noted that Obama was quick to reach out to the family of Michael Brown, who was killed while charging a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri last year.” He\u2019s done the same in other similar cases. Obama sent three personal emissaries to the Gentle Giant\u2019s funeral. None were sent to the funeral of Miss <\/line>Steinle and even yesterday we had the audio sound bite of the Homeland Security director, Jeh Johnson, testifying before Congress being asked about it and he didn\u2019t even know the woman\u2019s name. He didn\u2019t even know who he was being asked about. <\/line><\/p>\n

A Republican congressman asked Jeh Johnson about Kathryn Steinle and he said, “Who?” He didn\u2019t know. And he was perfectly fine with admitting that he didn\u2019t know. So while that family gets ignored, the incident is ignored, Obama doesn\u2019t even reference it, he writes 46 letters, which are essentially apology letters and acknowledging that there are a lot of people like these 46 that are in jail that really shouldn\u2019t be there, and he\u2019s letting them out. And he talks in the letter about himself, by the way. <\/p>\n

These letters to these 46 are actually about Obama, about what he\u2019s done as president, about how he views the presidency, about how commutation power is among the most important and powerful things a president can do. And he wants these 46 to know that he really is going to bat for \u2019em and he really is looking out for \u2019em, and he\u2019s the one who really cares about \u2019em. And, by inference, he\u2019s the one who knows that they\u2019ve been put in jail unjustly and by golly, by gosh, he\u2019s gonna fix it. That\u2019s the point of his letters to these people. We have audio sound bites on this. We start here, this is last night in Philadelphia, the NAALCP national convention.<\/p>\n

<\/a>OBAMA: On Thursday I will be the first sitting president to visit a federal prison. While the people in our prisons have made some mistakes and sometimes big mistakes, they are also Americans, and we have to make sure that as they do their time and pay back their debt to society, that we are increasing the possibility that they can turn their lives around. And if folks have served their time and they\u2019ve reentered society, they should be able to vote.<\/p>\n

RUSH: There you have it. There you have it, folks. Do you notice all of the applause lines here. He says he\u2019s gonna be the first sitting president to go to a prison and he gets a standing O for it. Who in the hell must be in the audience at this thing? Well, it\u2019s the NAALCP. Standing O for announcing you\u2019re going to a prison. A standing O for talking about (imitating Obama), “they\u2019re Americans, too, they may be whatever. They\u2019re Americans! They\u2019re just as American as any conservative is. And I\u2019m gonna let \u2019em out. They\u2019ve paid their debt society and they should be able to vote.” Yay! And this is the next bite we have from it.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: We should not be tolerating overcrowding in prison. We should not be tolerating gang activity in prison. We should not be tolerating rape in prison. And we shouldn\u2019t be making jokes about it in our popular culture. That\u2019s no joke. These things are unacceptable.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t know, what is he doing there? We should not be tolerating overcrowding. We should not be tolerating gang activity. We should not be — well, who glorifies that stuff?
