Did you hear what Karl Rove said? (laughing) Karl Rove was also on Fox News Sunday, and Chris Wallace said (paraphrased), “How do we stop this violence, Karl? What in the world do we do here?” And Rove said… What\u2019s the sound bite? We\u2019ve got the sound bite of this. Let\u2019s see. I\u2019ll find it very quick. Testing one, two, three. Let me vamp here. Yeah, here\u2019s what Karl Rove had to say. Here\u2019s the full question. Chris Wallace:<\/p>\n

“We see these cases of mass violence way too often, and we see them more often in the US than other advanced countries, and I mean, you\u2019re kind of in a position to say what do we do about it? Whether it\u2019s government, whether it\u2019s community, whether it\u2019s family, how do we stop the violence?” By the way, I disagree with the premise here, “We see these cases of mass violence way too often, and we see them more often in the US than other advanced countries…” No. How can that…? That isn\u2019t true. I don\u2019t want to nitpick with that, though.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s Rove\u2019s answer on what do we do to stop the violence…<\/p>\n

ROVE: Maybe there\u2019s some magic, uh, um, law that will keep us, uh, from having more of these. I mean, basically the only way to guarantee that we would dramatically reduce, uh, acts of violence involving guns is to basically remove guns from society. And until somebody, uhhh, gets enough oomph to repeal the Second Amendment, that\u2019s not gonna happen. I don\u2019t think that\u2019s an answer.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, he put it out there. Now, I\u2019m sure what Karl would tell you is, “Hey, hey, hey! Wait, back off. I\u2019m not advocating it. I\u2019m just telling you. He asked me what do we have to do to stop the violence. We\u2019re gonna have to repeal the Second Amendment. I\u2019m not advocating it!” I\u2019m sure that\u2019s what he\u2019s gonna say. “I\u2019m not advocating it, but he asked me a question. I\u2019m trying to point out the futility of the answer.”<\/line><\/p>\n

Laws are not the answer here.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve got laws against every crime in the book, and every crime in the book still happens. The answers go much deeper than law. The law is just… Well, you can really tick the left off if you categorize the law as an expression of our morality. Oh, that just sends \u2019em into a tizzy! But the law is a deterrent for the law-abiding. But people who break the law, by virtue of breaking the law, are breakin\u2019 breaking a law. The law didn\u2019t mean anything to them. You can have all the laws in the world. You can get rid of the Second Amendment. You\u2019re never gonna get rid of guns in the hands of criminals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
