I did not see the episode. We’ll hear the sound bite in just a moment.

Cardinal Wuerl. W-u-e-r-l. You know the Fox News people called us on Friday and asked to use a clip from this program from earlier in the week. I said, “Yeah, yeah. It’s not the best clip, by the way. I mean, I said a lot of things later in the week that added to that, made it even better.” They said, “No, no! this is exactly what we want!” Okay. So I knew they already had their segment planned and they wanted to use a clip from me on Tuesday.

And since it was Fox, I granted them permission to do so. It was the sound bite where I — in analyzing the papal encyclical — suggested that what it essentially was is a commandment to vote for the Democrat Party. So Chris Wallace played that sound bite for Cardinal Wuerl and asked him to reply to it. We have that coming up. Also the… Let’s see, what else? Oh, I have learned, ladies and gentlemen, something I did not know.

The pope actually has a climate advisor working on his staff and he is a genuine lunatic. He’s a German. What did I do with it? I just printed it out, here. I’ll have to find it somewhere in one of these stacks here. But I really… When you look at some of the language that’s being used in the papal encyclical on climate change, it really does come from the leftist political world, all of the phrases that the pope uses.

I’m really beginning to wonder if this whole thing wasn’t put together by a committee that may have, essentially, just hijacked the Vatican by this. I mean, that’s what the left does. They move in, they corrupt things. Just have to see.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Fox News Sunday yesterday, this is what I talked about in the previous half hour. They called, they wanted to use an excerpt from this program. They didn’t tell me why. I mean, they didn’t tell me who their guest was gonna be, said it didn’t matter. It’s Chris Wallace, it’s Fox News Sunday, I’ve had nothing but pleasant experiences with them, I trust them, so I said go ahead, use it. Here’s the first bite.

WALLACE: While the pope has bigger things on his mind than American politics, some American conservatives say he is choosing sides. Cardinal, forgive me, because this is gonna get a little salty.

RUSH ARCHIVE: Essentially what this papal encyclical is suggesting is that every Catholic should vote the Democrat Party. How in the hell else do you interpret it when the pope comes out and sounds like Algore on global warming and climate change?

RUSH: Okay, so now the cardinal, whose name is Cardinal Wuerl, is asked to respond. Chris Wallace says, “I never thought I’d ask you this, how do you respond to Rush Limbaugh?”</line>

WUERL: (whispering) Well, this is one of the great — one of the great blessings of America, isn’t it? We’re all allowed to speak our mind. Even if we don’t have all the facts, even if we don’t have a clear view of what the other person is saying, we’re all allowed to speak our mind, and that’s what he’s doing. Ah, I think what the pope is doing is something very, very different from that. He’s saying, “Why don’t we all discuss this? Why don’t we all come to the table, and before we start eliminating other people from the discussion — before denouncing them or even ridiculing them — why don’t we listen to them and see what they’re saying and see where we really ought to be going as a human family?”

RUSH: Now, I do not know Cardinal Wuerl. I don’t know his diocese, it’s not identified, I didn’t bother looking it up. The Cardinal is attempting to do two things here. He’s attempting to be polite and also to belittle me while being polite. Because I think the Cardinal — and he may not be aware, but many in the Catholic Church are profoundly aware of how strongly they are supported on this program and by me each and every time they come under cultural attack dating back to the early nineties and ACT UP storming into St. Patrick’s cathedral and throwing condoms and so forth during Cardinal O’Connor’s mass.

I was a guest of Cardinal O’Connor’s at his home on several occasions. My support for the Catholic Church during any number of things is well documented. The Cardinal here of course has to stand up for the pope. But here’s the problem with this. That’s not what the pope said. Now, I’m gonna say this with all due respect, and I’m gonna be as gracious as I possibly can to Cardinal Wuerl. But the pope, in his encyclical, does not say, “Why don’t we all discuss this? Why don’t we all come to the table and before we start eliminating other people from the discussion or denouncing them or ridiculing them, why don’t we listen to them and see what they’re saying.”

That’s not what the encyclical says. And, in fact, it’s not what happened. At the same time Cardinal Wuerl was on Fox News Sunday claiming that while I was practicing my God-given right to say what I think, that it’s wonderful even when people don’t know what they’re talking about, was this story. It had already been published the day before in the Washington Post:

“How Climate-Change Doubters Lost a Papal Fight — Pope Francis was about to take a major step backing the science behind human–driven global warming, and Philippe de Larminat was determined to change his mind. A French doubter who authored a book arguing that solar activity — not greenhouse gases — was driving global warming, de Larminat sought a spot at a climate summit in April sponsored by the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences.”

In other words, the pope convened a meeting. Somebody who does not believe in manmade climate change because of greenhouse gases wanted to attend. He was denied his request. The Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences was not interested in his point of view. “Nobel laureates would be there. So would UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, US economist Jeffrey Sachs and others calling for dramatic steps to curb carbon emissions.” There wasn’t one doubter.

“There wasn’t one person there who disagreed with the consenus of the worldwide left on manmade climate change due to fossil fuel creation of greenhouse gases. But it gets better than that. “After securing a high-level meeting at the Vatican, he was told that, space permitting, he could join. He bought a plane ticket from Paris to Rome.” This is the Frenchman. “But five days before the April 28 summit [on global warming], de Larminat said, he received an e-mail saying there was no space left.

“It came after other scientists — as well as the powerful Vatican bureaucrat in charge of the academy — insisted he had no business being there. ‘They did not want to hear an off note,’ de Larminat said.” They didn’t want to hear anybody that disagreed. Now, the papal encyclical does not “suggest that we, as a human community, sit down and discuss this.” The papal encyclical does not “welcome anybody and everybody” to the so-called table to discuss this. In fact, people who disagree or have an opposing point of view were uninvited, after having purchased plane tickets, were told not to show up.

You were only permitted to attend the Vatican Pontifical Academy of Sciences meeting on man-made global warming in advance of the papal be encyclical if you read with what the pope was going to say. Now, listen again to Cardinal Wuerl, Cardinal Donald Wuerl. This is yesterday on Fox News Sunday (again, just to rehash) people that disagreed with this consensus of man-made global warming stemming) from fossil fuel fuels and carbon dioxide poisoning were not permitted.

This Frenchman wanted to go, had his plane ticket purchased and was all set to go and was uninvited, as was everybody else who had an opposing view. Yet Cardinal Wuerl said this yesterday…

RUSH: You know, there’s further irony: That’s all I was doing. I was simply expressing my opinion about what the papal encyclical is, and it could have been written by anybody in the upper levels of the Democrat Party or the American environmental movement. So here’s Cardinal Wuerl saying, “No, no! The pope said we all need to sit down and talk about it.” Well, that’s not what happened! They did not permit people that didn’t agree with the pope’s consensus on this.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I finally found it. The pope’s chief scientific advisor… This according to the UK Independent, which has, by the way, a scathing story. The UK Independent today with a scathing story on two things that are linked, that are creating massive worldwide problems. One of them is the European Union, just the very idea that it was tried and what a disaster it is and how that’s affecting Greece. The other problem that this man identifies — it’s a writer at the UK Independent — is the “fantasy world” the pope is living in.</line>

His words, not mine. But it’s in that story that the pope’s science advisor is identified. I’m just gonna read you the passage from the UK Independent. “How forlorn in light of all this looks that would-be well-meaning 300-page document in which the Pope, under the spell of his chief scientific adviser, a fanatical German climate activist called Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, calls for an end to use of the very fossil fuels which keep the Vatican’s own lights on. In asking us to pray for that global climate treaty, Pope Francis solemnly trots out all those familiar plaints about ‘melting polar ice caps,'” which are not melting, “‘rising sea levels,'” which are not rising, “unprecedented droughts, ‘extreme weather events’ and the rest of that greenie litany which has no basis in honest science whatever.”

A “fanatical German climate activist.”

Not even a scientist!

I knew this was gonna happen sometime or another, so we may as well deal with it. Maggie in Shiloh, Illinois, I’m glad you called. Great to have you on the program today. Hello.

CALLER: Hello. Hi.

RUSH: Hi.

CALLER: Hi. So I came on to say how I’m a biiiiit, um, well, frustrated that you’ve been bashing the pope almost every single week. Because love you! I love your show. I’ve been listening to you for years, listening since I was a baby, and I really… I’m a Catholic, and I really, really trust and respect the pope on all of his… Whatever he says. And I just really (giggles) am not appreciating how you’re treating him.

RUSH: How I’m treating him?

CALLER: Yeah, how you’re treating him. It’s just that you’re not respective. I’m from — I’m from… He’s not Nancy Pelosi. He’s not a politician. Sure, popes can be political and corrupt, but Pope Francis is not, not that we know of.</line>

RUSH: Maggie, you see (sigh), this is the dilemma.

CALLER: Oh yeah?

RUSH: The pope has crossed a line here and has now entered the realm of politics.

CALLER: Well, no.

RUSH: Now, wait, now, wait, now, wait.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: Now, I understand you, as a devout Catholic, the pope is infallible, and not to be questioned.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: And me doing so is near heresy, and that’s the trick, you see? We’re all supposed to stand silent when the pope speaks because the pope is the Vicar of Christ, and there’s nobody — nobody — who can criticize the pope for what he says. It’s just not done. It’s not acceptable. And here comes old Rush at the EIB Network. But the pope, to me, has entered the realm of politics with this portion of his encyclical on climate change, and I don’t know what to do here, Maggie.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: I don’t know what to do, because I fervently care about this, and I firmly believe the pope is wrong, and I don’t believe that this is…

CALLER: Okay. Well, that’s where I come in. (giggles) I really… It’s not that we have to listen to the pope on everything. It’s not that he is —

RUSH: Well, I know that. I’m interrupting ’cause I’m out of time here. I know that it’s not that. It’s what isn’t permitted or what isn’t cool or what isn’t acceptable is “criticizing” the pope. You don’t have to listen to him, but I’d better not say anything about him — or else.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: So Cardinal Wuerl… By the way, he’s the Washington diocese, Washington, DC. Cardinal Wuerl says that I don’t understand Il Papa. I don’t understand what the pope is saying. But America’s a beautiful place because I am free to tell 20 million people what I don’t know and what I don’t understand and isn’t it wonderful? But what the pope understands and what the pope is saying is that we should all get together and have a conversation among “the human community.”

We should all learn together, discuss ideas together, and see what each other thinks. Well, fine and dandy, but the pope didn’t say that. And, furthermore, “How Climate-Change Doubters Lost a Papal Fight,” says that some people who disagreed with what the encyclical was gonna say asked to attend the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences meeting on all this and were denied admission. After being told they could show up, they were actually disinvited!

They were told they could show up, bought their plane tickets from France, and got an e-mail, “Sorry, sorry! Turns out there’s not enough room for you here.” But no, I’m between a rock and a hard place here ’cause Cardinal Wuerl, obviously a respected cardinal in Washington, DC, and he’s out there saying (summarized), “The pope said let’s all sit together. This is what Limbaugh doesn’t understand! The pope is saying that we should discuss this, come to the table before we started eliminating other people from this discussion.”

When did I do that? I didn’t eliminate anybody. They did! I’m not eliminating anybody from any discussion! All I’m saying is that the pope sounds like a Marxist sometimes when he starts talking economics. Well, I did. There’s no reason to hide that. I’m saying here that the pope has entered the realm of politics here when he starts spewing the exact stuff you hear from Algore, which means the purpose of this encyclical could mean it’s a sign to Catholics to vote Democrat.

But this is not all, ladies and gentlemen.

Reuters is absolutely giddy with this story.

“The Pope Says Weapons Manufacturers Cannot Call Themselves Christian.”

By the way, for Cardinal Wuerl and everyone else, I am one of the few who have pointed out what the pope said in his entirety in this encyclical. The rest of the media’s not reporting what the pope said about abortion and environmentalism. The pope said in this encyclical that if you’re gonna be devoted to God’s creation, it better include the human embryo. You can’t be out there be anti-coal and anti-oil to protect Mother Earth and not be of the same mind of every living creature, including the baby in the womb.

And, of course, I point this out.

Nobody else does in the Drive-By Media. They’re leaving that alone. I think I was more inclusive than 99% of the people reporting on this, but now here’s Reuters. They’re just excited as they can be, ’cause “The Pope Says Weapons Manufacturers Cannot Call Themselves Christian.” Now, wait. This gets even better. “People who manufacture weapons or invest in weapons industries are hypocrites if they call themselves Christian, Pope Francis said on Sunday.” This is not in the encyclical. This is just something he said yesterday.

“Francis issued his toughest condemnation to date of the weapons industry at a rally of thousands of young people at the end of the first day of his trip to the Italian city of Turin. … ‘It makes me think of … people, managers, businessmen who call themselves Christian and they manufacture weapons. That leads to a bit a distrust, doesn’t it?’ he said to applause. He also criticized those who invest in weapons industries, saying ‘duplicity is the currency of today … they say one thing and do another.'”

Now, I’m sorry, folks. (laughing)

You know, these are political comments, and I have to say something here. If it is unchristian… If you can’t call yourself a Christian if you manufacture weapons or ammo or invest in companies that do, then is Nancy Pelosi still a Catholic if she supports abortion, which the pope just condemned in his encyclical? Is that not a reasonable question to ask, Mr. Snerdley? (interruption) Yeah, except Snerdley does… He says, “You’re fine. You can handle this, Rush. You don’t need me on this.” (interruption)

The Swiss Guard has weapons. But wait! Wait. Wait. Yes, of course the Swiss Guard has weapons. But hang on. There’s something even… I don’t know about “better,” but there’s something even more poignant than pointing that out. But literally that: If weapons manufacturers… This is the pope saying this! If weapons manufacturers cannot call themselves Christians, and people who invest in weapons manufacturing companies or ammo-manufacturing can’t call themselves Christians, how can pro-choice people call themselves Christians?</line>

I think this is a slippery slope. Now, admittedly, I’m not a Northeast moderate Republican or liberal, and I may not understand the nuance of this. I may be such a simpleton, I may be well-intentioned, but I may not have the slightest idea what I’m talking about. But isn’t it wonderful that we live in a country where somebody like me — a grand doofus of all times — can say whatever he thinks to countless millions of people? Isn’t it a beautiful thing, my friends! What a great, great country we have here, isn’t it?”

Right.

The Pope “spoke of the ‘tragedy of the Shoah,’ using the Hebrew term for the Holocaust.” Now, listen. This is the same speech. The pope has just said that “Weapons Manufacturers Cannot Call Themselves Christian.” Here’s the quote again: “‘It makes me think of … people, managers, businessmen who call themselves Christian and they manufacture weapons. That leads to a bit a distrust, doesn’t it?’ he said to applause. He also criticized those who invest in weapons industries, saying ‘duplicity is the currency of today … they say one thing and do another.'”

“He spoke of the ‘tragedy of the Shoah,’ using the Hebrew term for the Holocaust. ‘The great powers had the pictures of the railway lines that brought the trains to the concentration camps like Auschwitz to kill Jews, Christians, homosexuals, everybody. Why didn’t they bomb (the railway lines)?'” What? That would have been un-Christian! He just said… Look, I didn’t say any of this, and Reuters has published it!

I’m just reading it to you, so don’t get in my chili. I’m just reading to you what Reuters says here. “The Pope Says Weapons Manufacturers Cannot Call Themselves Christian.” I realize this is a “no-win” to be in here. I cannot win. There’s no win here. But I don’t know how else to deal with this, because institution after institution after institution across our country and across the world is being corrupted.

If weapons manufacturers and ammo manufacturers can’t call themselves Christian, then why are you suggesting that those same people should have bombed the railway lines leading to Auschwitz and the other concentration camps? The pope decries weapons and then wonders why the concentration camp railway lines and the camps themselves (we had a picture there) weren’t bombed, which would have killed everybody. Ahem. So…

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: This is Adam in Oklahoma City. Glad you called, sir. You’re up, and great to have you here. Hi.

CALLER: Thanks, Rush, for taking my call.

RUSH: You bet.

CALLER: Honor to speak to you. I’m calling in response to Maggie earlier who was talking about how you were not treating the pope correctly or her concerned over that, and I was pretty frustrated by the comment. I’m a cradle Catholic, and I’m also in the oil and gas business, and I read the article about the gentlemen not being invited to — or not being loud to participate in the encyclical, and I was pretty frustrated by it. You know, I wanted to point out two things.

First, I think it’s important that you’re bringing up these issues that are straddling the line between politics and religion. Because this isn’t the first time and won’t be the last that the church gets involved in politics and economic issues, and they’ve been wrong in the past. And I also wanted to point out that the comment on infallibility, if you look into it a little bit more, the church’s position on infallibility is on matters necessary for salvation. It’s not on everything that the pope says.

RUSH: Yes, that’s true. You’re right about that. I did err in making — but I think to the extent the person I was talking to, she probably agreed with what I said. I think there are many people that whatever the pope says whenever, you better do it, abide by it, or else.

CALLER: Well, I just would encourage people to research their faith if they’re getting into issues like this, for me personally that I’m disagreeing with some of the things that are coming out or disagreeing with the approach, and, you know, you just have to research it and not necessarily just accept everything at face value.

RUSH: Well, let me step in it again here. In defending the Catholic Church against every assault that you can recall over the last 27 years, and I have done so, in defending the Catholic Church I have always told people, warned people, reminded people, whatever, that it’s not any church’s job to bend and shape to public opinion. That’s not what religion is. Not the Catholic Church.

Religion has grown to encompass so many things that that blanket statement probably isn’t — a lot of religions bend and flake and form and shape to public opinion for a host of reasons, but the Catholic Church and Judaism do not. It is what it is. And if you don’t subscribe, if you don’t believe, that’s fine, you don’t have to come. But the one thing the church has never done — I can’t say never, but it’s been really good in this regard — is standing for what it stands for, being a beacon of light and goodness, salvation, decency, all of those things, being what it is. The route to God. The Word of God.

The moment a religious organization begins to dilute and water down its genuine theological beliefs to accommodate public opinion, to either deflect criticism or to obtain more membership or what have you, or, dare I say even more tithing, more donations, then it is betraying itself. And I’ve always admired the Church, the Catholic Church — I’m not a Catholic, but I’ve always admired the Catholic Church for not bending this way. It’s been an institution you could rely on. Of course, if you go to Georgetown University, a Catholic school, you see examples opposite of what I’m talking about. So it’s not cut-and-dried, but it used to be.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I doubt there have been any pundits who have defended the Catholic Church more consistently than I have over the last 30 years. In fact, the American left is now embracing the pope. The American left have been the serial attackers of the Catholic Church. And yet it is I, Rush Limbaugh, who is a wonderful human being but celebrating the right to be massively wrong. Isn’t it wonderful to live in America where this can be possible?

This is Jim in Toronto, Canada. It’s great to have you, sir, and welcome to the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: It’s a great honor, Rush! Yeah, I just want to mention that if the pope is gonna talk about “unfettered capitalism,” he should start August unfettered socialism and liberalism, because if you go back and read one of the great encyclicals by Pope Leo XIII. It’s Rerum Novarum. Just to be fair, Pope Leo wrote about businessman should start… I’ll do it in a nutshell, there’s a lot of articles, the businessmen of the time should be fair to the workers because the socialists are beating down the doors to exploit the workers and also to take private property away.

Does this sound familiar what’s going on? As we know — and you’ve talked about it for years, Rush, and educated your listeners — the die hard socialists, the left, are against private property. I know a lot of people say, “Oh, no, they’re not,” but they are. The environmentalists, the EPA, how they attack property owners, you see all the rules and regulations. Now, if you’re going to push — and they’re all-in on this man-made global warming. So you come to two conclusions.

Either the pope is the most uninformed pope we’ve ever had or he’s part of the left. And you might have conclude to the second because he’s the first pope in a thousand years from out of Europe. He was in Argentina, and we know what Argentina was like in the seventies. You disappeared in the middle of the night for just having an opinion. So, you know, I don’t know… I’m a Roman Catholic, and I find it hard. I never found myself disagreeing with Pope Benedict XVI.

But I find myself constantly trying to stick up for this pope because we hear the context. Rerum Novarum is not like pro-capitalist, but it talks about fairness to workers, fairness to the people. It also talks about — and they take it out of the scriptures — that man has a right to private property before the state. You can look this up. And then there’s another encyclical by Pope Pius XI in the Twentieth Century. I’m no expert. I’m just sort of generalizing. I’ll tell you one thing. If you want to conclude, the Catholic Church is —

RUSH: Let me just jump in here, because I am not — and I’m not pretending to be — a Catholic. I have been invited by monsignors and priests while inside St. Patrick’s on other business. I’ve gotten to know several. As I say, I was invited to breakfast with Cardinal O’Connor and his staff, and I’ve had several priests suggest that Catholicism would be natural for me, based on their awareness of what I’m saying. And they’ve all done so, by the way, on the basis of saving my soul.

That’s how I have been approached, and it was not oppressive. It was friendly, don’t misunderstand. My point is, I’m not an expert on the Catholic Church and I’m not trying to be here, and I’m not in any way, shape, manner, or form a Catholic. But what I am an expert on is freedom, and I recognize efforts to infringe upon it. I am in the free speech business. So I am acutely aware of any and all efforts to infringe on free speech, and they’re all over the place.

As such, I am acutely aware of every other assault on individual liberty and freedom. And believe me, that’s what every leftist issue ultimately aims at is individual liberty and freedom. And then self-reliance. And then rugged individualism. All of this constitutes a threat to leftists and the modern-day Democrat Party.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Heather in Blacksburg, Virginia, great to have you on the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Thank you so much for all you do. You truly are the only voice of sanity that we’re hearing these days.

RUSH: Well, sometimes I wonder.

CALLER: I have a theory myself and it has to do with all this talk on global warming, not only from the pope, but do you remember a while back when Obama made the comment when ISIS was particularly active and Obama made the comment that the biggest threat to our world was global warming and not ISIS.

RUSH: Oh, yeah.</line>

CALLER: And you just had to scratch your head, you know, what in the world. Well, my theory is that all this talk on global warming is just setting the stage for who the next presidential Democratic nominee is gonna be, as well as who they hope to be president, and I think that’s Algore. I don’t think Hillary has a heck of a chance of winning the nomination. I think just as Obama came out of nowhere and pushed her aside, the same thing is gonna happen with Algore. And all this talk of global warming, and that’s the —

RUSH: Let me politely offer an alternative. A, I don’t think Algore would in any way take the pay cut. Algore is too busy getting rich off of this hoax, and he’s living the life right now. Global warming is also much more than just a plan to elect Democrats. It clearly is that. There’s no question. But it is far more oppressive than that. It is far more dangerous than that. The things that are wrapped up in climate change as an issue, virtually every objective the worldwide left has for global government, the elimination of the US Constitution, the whole notion of individual liberty and private property, global warming, climate, whatever you call it, has every mechanism to eliminate everything liberals oppose. And that’s why they’re trying to encompass it with science and get the pope involved giving it automatic authority, ’cause it can’t stand on its own in science.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT</line>
RUSH: Okay here is Robert in Ave Maria, Florida, glad you waited, sir. You’re up next on the Rush Limbaugh program.</line>

CALLER: Hello. Dittos, Rush. I’m calling from a new Catholic university town with a huge church in the center of town. All my neighbors and friends, this is really on our minds, this encyclical, and I wanted to talk about paragraph 188.

RUSH: Okay. Go ahead.

CALLER: All right. By the way, Robert Bork was my law professor while he was converting to the Catholic Church.

RUSH: Oh, wow. Wow.

CALLER: He’d probably encourage you to listen to those monsignors that are approaching you.

RUSH: Well, I don’t know that I ever told him about that. But he probably would have if I had mentioned it to him, no doubt.

CALLER: I’ll get to my point. I’m sorry, Rush. By the way, I’m a Supreme Court justice trapped in a small town lawyer’s body. I just want everybody to know that.

RUSH: Okay.

CALLER: Paragraph 188 says the church does not presume to settle scientific questions or to replace politics, but I am concerned to encourage an honest and open debate so that particular interests or theologies will not prejudice the common good. Paragraph 188 of the encyclical.

RUSH: I’m sorry, but that is not what that encyclical does or is. I’m sorry.

CALLER: I know, I know, that’s my point is I’m very frustrated. I love Pope Francis and I’ll follow him, but that doesn’t mean I’m afraid to challenge him when he says something that is hard to make sense of. And it’s not that it’s challenging, I’m happy to be challenged as a Catholic. But this doesn’t make sense because what he then goes on to do is he partners up, you know, the multibillion-dollar climate science industry and, you know, uses only their ideological, you know, and particular —

RUSH: You’re right. It is paragraph 188 that Cardinal Wuerl was referring to in his appearance on Fox News Sunday where he said the pope wants everyone to sit down at the table and as a human family, discuss the issue, which is not what he, meaning I, is saying. The pope wants everyone — no, the pope did not permit — well, the Vatican did not permit people that didn’t agree with what they were gonna say to even show up and participate.

CALLER: I love Cardinal Wuerl, too. I don’t think that the pope has been fair to us, because he seems to violate paragraph 188 —

RUSH: Well, this is where you gotta be —

CALLER: — global warming theory and endorsing the UN treaty as a specific political —

RUSH: Okay, but something happened, something real explains it.
