RUSH: Barry in Palm Coast, Florida, welcome, sir, glad you waited, you\u2019re next on the EIB Network. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hello, Rush. Longtime listener, first-time caller.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s great to have you here, Barry.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019ve been telling this story to so many congressmen, the NRA, with no success anywhere. I\u2019m 72 years old. Twelve years ago my son and I bought a large retail store in north central Pennsylvania. We carried everything: boots, clothing, had a huge gun department, looked like a mini-Cabela\u2019s, archery, everything, full line plumbing, hardware supply store. In 2003 to 2008 we grew the business to five and a half million. In 2008, Obama\u2019s first year, things were still going good so we continued to buy inventory, and in 2009 everything fell apart. From 2009 to 2013 we couldn\u2019t buy a box of ammunition, not one box<\/a>. In the big picture, we\u2019re a small retailer.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Four years you couldn\u2019t buy ammo?<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: I would say it was starting in 2009 into 2010.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, two years you couldn\u2019t buy ammo.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, no. We still couldn\u2019t. And we got to the point where we couldn\u2019t maintain the inventory in our other departments when we couldn\u2019t sell guns. We were a destination store. People would drive for two hours to get to our place. They\u2019d say, “I can\u2019t believe the service here. You\u2019ve got everything.” It was wonderful, and then people would call when they began to have trouble getting ammunition, and they would say, “Have you got any ammo?” <\/p>\n

We had to tell them the truth. You can\u2019t have them drive two hours and not have ammo. So we told them no ammo, so they didn\u2019t come. They didn\u2019t buy boots. They didn\u2019t guns. They didn\u2019t buy clothing. Our sales dropped to two and a half million. Last year they\u2019re down to a million and a half. We had to have a fire sale to get rid of our guns. We did that. I\u2019ve been relatively successful in business, and the money I put into the store I had to put in about half of my net worth to keep the place going, and it\u2019s been a disaster. I\u2019ve called the NRA, I called everybody, and they would tell us, “Oh, it\u2019s just a normal supply and demand.” It\u2019s not supply and demand.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The NRA told you that?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, the NRA lawyer told me that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They knew what was going on. You couldn\u2019t find ammo because the government was buying most of it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s absolutely what I believe, and I\u2019m living proof.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s not even a mystery. It started out as a rumor, and remember, people that started saying government\u2019s hoarding ammo and so forth, I remember the news stories, and they were called names, their integrity was impugned, they were called conspiracy kooks and freaks. And here we are, the government is banning the ammo now.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: When everybody suggested that\u2019s the next thing to happen, what the government\u2019s actually doing is an implied ban by buying up all the stock, by buying up all the supply.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It drove the price of ammo through the roof. Then people began to hoard.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: The people that could get ammo — and you could go to Walmart, who\u2019s the largest distributor of ammunition, you could go to Cabela\u2019s, they would occasionally get a truckload.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: ‘Cause I think they were afraid to shut off everything completely.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Who, the Regime?<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: The Regime.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, afraid to shut off everything.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I lost half of my net worth. <\/p>\n

RUSH: So is this why you\u2019re in Palm Coast today, and not north central Pennsylvania?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. <\/p>\n

RUSH: So you know it\u2019s real?<\/p>\n

CALLER: We know it\u2019s real and we were afraid to complain. My son kept saying dad, “Don\u2019t say too much, don\u2019t say too much. They could send the ATF in to any gun store in this country and find some violation that would shut you down.” So that was always a fear, that we were afraid to complain too loudly.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, there you go. This is exactly how it works. Fear of the agents coming in and shutting you down. So you don\u2019t make any waves. You don\u2019t complain about it. You don\u2019t want anybody complaining for you. You don\u2019t want to be on the radar.<\/p>\n

CALLER: We were robbed, oh, I don\u2019t know what year it was, 2005, handguns. They broke in, smashed the counters, stole all our handguns. The ATF came in to do the inspection. They were there for about three days. We had every gun recorded properly. They couldn\u2019t find one violation. We were just a small business trying to succeed and we went from 25 employees down to four. We now run a hardware store barely making things meet. <\/p>\n

On top of that, Rush, we\u2019re in the middle of the Marcellus Shale development. It would start and then it would stop. Shale would come in, they\u2019d start drilling, then they\u2019d stop drilling. Supposedly they\u2019re coming in again this spring in a big way, but that\u2019s because we have no national energy program. Instead of investing in liquid nitrogen distribution system, we invested in the Solyndras of this world.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, God. Does the shale drilling help you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: It should. It should bring a lot of people to town.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: If it\u2019s consistent and if it starts big time of course —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you know, the Regime doesn\u2019t like shale drilling.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, of course they don\u2019t. It\u2019s the only thing we\u2019ve got left to sell. I used to be in the steel industry. The steel industry went to hell. Then the automotive industry went to hell. The one thing we have that could turn the —<\/p>\n

<\/a>RUSH: Don\u2019t worry about. Apple\u2019s — (crosstalk)<\/p>\n

CALLER: — country around is energy.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, and the Regime\u2019s doing its best to suppress that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. We\u2019re right on the border of New York. There are only two states in the United States that don\u2019t allow drilling, and that\u2019s Vermont and Mr. Cuomo in New York.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And there are poor people in upstate New York. Upstate New York should secede from the rest of New York because upstate New York is as poor as it gets. There are farmers up there who\u2019ve got land that are probably sitting on millions of dollars\u2019 worth of natural gas.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You don\u2019t want to use the word secede. The agents are gonna show back up at your hardware store.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh. Well, that\u2019s true. We don\u2019t have much left to shut down. In a poor town we used to employ 25 people. As I said, we\u2019re down to four.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Incredible. Thank you Obama, right? I mean, that\u2019s policy that has been implemented that\u2019s causing this. That\u2019s the shame of this. This is the result of policy implementation.
