RUSH: I\u2019m just overwhelmed. We have an 8-year-old — now, stop and think of this — an 8-year-old calling the Rush Limbaugh program. Her name is Heidi, and she\u2019s from Lexington, Kentucky, and, Heidi, I welcome you to the program. I\u2019m glad you called. How are you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m very good. Thank you for asking, Bo. Oh, I\u2019m sorry. Rush. Bo was the person I talked to last time.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s right. I understand you\u2019re nervous. A lot of people get nervous talking to 20 million people. I sometimes do, too. So don\u2019t let it intimidate you. You don\u2019t sound like it would anyway.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So, there was a question I wanted to ask you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/map>\n<\/p>\n

CALLER: With the way that our country is going in the way Barack Obama is taking us, do you think kids my age will still get very good jobs when we are older?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, you\u2019re 8, and how many more years will that be important to you, for you. See, 8, 10, 18 — so 10 years. Yes. Heidi, let me answer it this way, and I\u2019m gonna just be brazenly honest with you since you asked, \u2019cause I think you\u2019re mature enough to deal with it. If things don\u2019t change in the country it\u2019s going to be harder to find jobs that are associated with careers, which is what this country has always been known for. This country\u2019s always been known for, if you want to do something in your life, if you have a dream to do some kind of job, or to perform some kind of service for people, that\u2019s been the greatness of this country, that if you want to try for it, you have that opportunity. <\/p>\n

The American economy or the marketplace is wide open for creative and ingenious people to try to go out and make their mark. Now, that\u2019s always going to be the case, Heidi. No matter what happens, there\u2019s always gonna be room for the absolute best. And that\u2019s defined in a number of ways. Actual testing people, or who\u2019s got more ambition, more desire. So that, I think, is always gonna happen, it\u2019s always gonna be there. But if things don\u2019t change I think the opportunities will be less for people. I don\u2019t want to scare you with this, but, I mean, you asked, and I don\u2019t want to lie to you. That wouldn\u2019t be nice. But a lot of people are worried about it. Are you? Is that why you\u2019re asking?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Actually, no. I just wanted to know if anybody had the answer or wanted to tell their honest opinion about it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, you mean if you want to hear other people calling in answering that question, not just me?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

<\/a>RUSH: Well, frankly, what they think doesn\u2019t matter, Heidi. This program is about what I think. And I\u2019ll be glad to open it up to what other people — (laughing) — Snerdley. Look, Heidi, I\u2019m gonna tell you, the best way to address this is, if there are more people like you who care about this kind of thing, there\u2019s always going to be opportunity for you. I think we\u2019re gonna recover from this. We\u2019re gonna come out of this. I\u2019ve always believed it. I think the country\u2019s gonna recover. I think the people are gonna wake up and recover. <\/p>\n

And I think that what\u2019s always been known as the American dream, I think it\u2019s gonna be there for you and other people your age, it\u2019s gonna be there for the taking. It\u2019s never been easy, but it will be there for you. There\u2019s so many people, Heidi, that you don\u2019t know who care about making that happen for you and other people your age, their own kids. There are people who are giving everything they\u2019ve got in their lives today to try to make sure that your future is as rosy as theirs has been, if not better, and I have full confidence that those people that are striving for that future are going to succeed.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you for your honest opinion.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s exactly what it is. I wouldn\u2019t tell you otherwise. But you\u2019re not worried about it, you\u2019re just curious?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s interesting you\u2019re not worried about it. Is it because it\u2019s so far off for you, or is it because you\u2019re confident that you\u2019re gonna do okay?<\/p>\n

CALLER: So, anyways, I was calling about your books anyways<\/a>.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, well, we should get to the books. What do you want to say about the books?<\/p>\n

CALLER: They are absolutely phenomenal. I\u2019ve had the first one, and I\u2019ve read half the second one, I have the whole series, and I absolutely love the ones I\u2019ve read.<\/p>\n
