CALLER: Mega Christmas dittos, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, sir. Same to you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, sir, I want to talk to you. I was looking forward to seeing American Sniper, the new movie based on Chris Kyle\u2019s life.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019ve heard a little bit about it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right, well, it looks like it\u2019s gonna be pretty good. It\u2019s directed by Clint Eastwood, getting some rave reviews. But it hit me this is one of several movies opening on Christmas Day.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, yeah.<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: Now, movies have opened on Christmas day for years, but I started wondering that the same people who were protesting all those evil retailers from taking away employees from their families on Thanksgiving Day to sell stuff, are those same people gonna protest the theaters from taking people away from their families on Christmas Day —<\/p>\n

RUSH: No.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — to chauffeur liberal Hollywood.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No. You know why?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, it\u2019s rhetorical.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Because those people don\u2019t go to theaters, so don\u2019t care who\u2019s working. They watch pirated movies on their iPads from BitTorrent.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, that\u2019s true.<\/p>\n

RUSH: These are bunch of tightwads. They wouldn\u2019t pay to watch a movie if they had to. They\u2019ll steal it online, stream it somehow before they\u2019ll go to a theater, so they don\u2019t care if a guy is working or not. I know the tech guys. I know them like the back of my hand. They don\u2019t want to pay for anything. Everything ought to be free. So if somebody has to work at a theater making sure that the movie is run and the popcorn\u2019s hot, tough luck.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They\u2019ll watch it on the iPad stream —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Nobody cares about them.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What was that?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Nobody cares about them. It\u2019s only when it\u2019s retailers making people work.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, yeah, look, your point is well made. If the same people who decry the evils of capitalism tearing families apart on holidays, that they have already torn apart themselves, by the way, by not permitting them to be celebrated. I mean, the same people who get upset that families have to work on Christmas Day are the same people that won\u2019t let you put a nativity scene up at the town square, but your point is well taken. When it serves their purpose of beating up capitalism, fine and dandy, but if the theater would be closed because of this, then it would be bad, because their personal enjoyment, whatever, paramount.
