RUSH: Grab audio sound bite number one. Last night it was Comedy Central, and it was Colbert Report. I always do that, the Colbert Report. And it was time to make fun of your host, El Rushbo, for my take on the meaning of the election<\/a>.<\/p>\n

LIMBAUGH: The biggest and perhaps the most important mandate a political party has had in the recent era, and it is very simple what that mandate is: It is to stop Barack Obama. Republicans were not elected to govern.<\/p>\n

COLBERT: Thank you. Republicans were not elected to govern. Their one job — (applause) — huge, huge Rush Limbaugh fans here tonight. (cheers) Republicans were not elected to govern. Their one job is to stop Obama.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And that got practically a standing ovation on Comedy Central last night, totally shocking the host, and once again, demonstrating the whole world agrees with me on this. It just does. It\u2019s a great validation. You\u2019re looking for validation out there, well, I thought I would show you some. (interruption) You want to hear that one more time? Why do you want to hear it one more, why such a big deal? I\u2019ve got an audience of a million people. All right. Snerdley wants to hear it again. Really? All right. My instincts would be to let it go. We\u2019ve made the point. Snerdley wants to hear it again, so… <\/line><\/p>\n

(replaying of sound bite.) <\/p>\n

Now, you know why Colbert focused on “they were not elected govern,” because he thinks that I\u2019m saying, “Hey, they\u2019re not qualified to lead.” That\u2019s not what I meant by govern. See, you people know that. That\u2019s just another way of saying they weren\u2019t sent there to work with the Democrats. They weren\u2019t sent there to make Congress work. They weren\u2019t sent there to get along. That\u2019s not why they were elected, to end gridlock. Look, I\u2019m not gonna beat you over the head again with this today, \u2019cause you know it. I\u2019ve explained it countless times, and you get it. And there\u2019s no need. <\/p>\n

I just wanted to show you how shocked they were to hear massive rounds of applause in agreement with this on a liberal comedy network called Comedy Central. Can you imagine their production meeting, “Oh, man, oh, man, this is gonna be so cool,” and the shock when the audience practically erupts in a standing ovation at the idea the Republicans were elected to stop Obama. Just a tiny little moment in a universe of major happenings, ladies and gentlemen. Take a little pleasure from it. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Anyway, the only reason these liberal entertainers bring up your name is because they know it will bring attention to themselves. They name-drop you because it\u2019s a form of self-induced gravitas. Otherwise nobody would listen to them.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, how does this work? I mean, are you saying that they mention my name so I will play the sound bites of their show and elevate their audiences, or what?<\/p>\n

CALLER: All they have to do is bring up your name. Hey, look, it\u2019s like when you went on that golf show. What was the golf show?<\/p>\n
