CALLER: Rush, how are you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Just fine, sir. Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I haven\u2019t talked to you in many years. Yeah, you know, two comments, one especially regarding the comments from this guy from TMZ. When I heard them yesterday, I started thinking like you have taught me to think, and that is this smells like, well, not only hypocrisy, but, you know, this guy, I\u2019m sure is a big lib, and it seemed like this, you know, I started thinking, I wonder if this is a concerted effort —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, wait a minute, now. Wait a second, you\u2019re talking about Harvey Levin, the guy I called the new Walter Cronkite?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Harvey Levin.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I mean, yes, this seems like a concerted effort. It smells of the White House continuing their attack. This is round two of their attack on the NFL, because they didn\u2019t listen when Obama told them to change the name of the Redskins, and now they\u2019re saying, “Okay, you\u2019re gonna ignore us, well, here we come again,” and now —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, here\u2019s the problem. I think they\u2019re two separate things.<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I really don\u2019t think Harvey Levin is, “Okay, they didn\u2019t change the name. Okay, so see what they do with this Rice video.” I don\u2019t think that —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Harvey\u2019s just trying to take over the news business, that\u2019s all.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, here\u2019s my other comment, is that this guy, his complaint is that, A, the head of the NFL, and he\u2019s so angry, the head of the NFL supposedly, in his theory, knew about it —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah?<\/p>\n

CALLER: — covered it up —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — and now should be impeached because of it. But my question is, where was this guy when four Americans were killed and the American president —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, wait a minute.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — knew about it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Harvey doesn\u2019t do that. Harvey does low-information news.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Harvey Levin is TMZ. Harvey is the E! Entertainment network, People magazine. The NFL is a celebrity news event, so that\u2019s why Harvey\u2019s in on this. Well, Obama\u2019s a celebrity, too, but TMZ, they don\u2019t do the political unless they run into me in LA. Then they\u2019ll throw a camera in my face and ask me inane stuff, you know, and I just keep walking. But, look, the first thing you said out there, Brett, is that this guy Harvey is a big lib. So is the NFL, Harvey. There\u2019s nothing rabidly conservative about the NFL, and certainly not the commissioner\u2019s office. I mean they\u2019re just not. <\/line><\/p>\n

So in your example it would be lib versus lib, if you think Harvey Levin, i.e., Walter Cronkite — well, I say Walter Cronkite because TMZ is the gospel to a lot of low-information news consumers, folks. TMZ is gospel. That\u2019s why I called him Walter Cronkite. He ought to appreciate that. That\u2019s a compliment. But I don\u2019t think it\u2019s anything to do with the Redskins in terms of what TMZ is doing here. TMZ, Harvey Levin, Walter Cronkite, I guess firmly believes that everybody claiming they didn\u2019t know this video existed is lying about it. And the reason he\u2019s claiming it is two things. <\/p>\n

He thinks they have seen it, but the second thing, even if they haven\u2019t seen it, they had to know what went on in there. How does a woman end up unconscious in an elevator and dragged out of it if she\u2019s not hit, especially after the two people in the elevator apparently testified that that\u2019s what happened? So a lot of people are saying, “Why did it take the video?” And that\u2019s essentially what Harvey Levin, “Why does it take the video anyway to take this from two games to six games to out of the league.” And the answer to that is it\u2019s just another cultural thing. <\/line><\/p>\n

I want to warn you of something else that\u2019s percolating out there, and I don\u2019t know how far this is gonna go. But there are people who are saying that they have seen even more of the video from inside the elevator. Now, you know, if you\u2019re keeping up to speed on this that Mrs. Ray Rice, at the time she was his fiancee, spit on Ray inside the elevator. That has been reported. Apparently, in addition to her spitting on him, she hit him. The violence was going two ways in there and even before they got on the elevator. And there is now just a ripple of undercurrent of people who are becoming aware that Janay Rice was not just innocently walking along and got belted. <\/p>\n

Nobody\u2019s saying she deserved to get hit. Don\u2019t misunderstand. Don\u2019t misunderstand this, because it\u2019s still operative you never lay hands on a woman. I heard Ray Lewis say it, it\u2019s gospel. You never lay hands on a woman. And it\u2019s true, you don\u2019t, even if you\u2019re getting pummeled. That\u2019s the cultural mores today. The NAGs can command equality all you want, but you still can\u2019t hit the girl. <\/p>\n

Not only can you not hit the girl, remember what happened to Rick Lazio when he walked to Hillary\u2019s podium in a debate? All he did was walk over there to give her a paper to sign, and he was accused of assault and intimidation. You don\u2019t hit the girl, nobody\u2019s saying so, but this is a bit of an undercurrent that\u2019s beginning to now bubble up on this sordid, sordid tale.
