RUSH: Are we getting to the point we\u2019re gonna have to execute Ray Rice at halftime at an NFL game, folks? This is exactly what happens when you try to appease every malcontent group out there, and I\u2019m talking about the NFL leadership. Everybody is bending over backwards making sure nobody gets offended. Everybody is assumed to be treated with respect, all these different groups.<\/p>\n

The new Walter Cronkite of the country, Harvey Levin of TMZ<\/a>, is out basically calling Goodell a liar. Goodell is saying, “Hey, I didn\u2019t see that tape. I really didn\u2019t see the tape. I really didn\u2019t know,” and of course everybody, “What did you need to see the tape for?” Everybody knows what had to happen in there for the woman to be dragged out of an elevator unconscious. Anyway, that is continuing to just blow up all over the place. It remains a major story in the Drive-Bys. <\/line><\/p>\n

Goodell, the commissioner, is on CBS This Morning <\/a>yesterday and today with a full-length interview with Norah O\u2019Donnell. I mean, everybody\u2019s running around, “Please forgive us. Oh, we really got it wrong. Oh, it\u2019s terrible we missed this. Oh, it\u2019s just so bad. We got it so wrong but we\u2019re trying to get it right.” It\u2019s a cluster. And I\u2019m telling you, it\u2019s what happens when you are, I don\u2019t know if fear is the right word. When you\u2019re politically correct, when you\u2019re trying to appease everybody instead of carving out a position, having principles and sticking with it. You can\u2019t please everybody all the time. <\/p>\n

In the meantime, I\u2019ve got a sound bite here. I knew this was gonna happen. I have been worried about the this. I even sense it happening with me, to tell you the truth. This guy Bill Rhoden<\/a>, the columnist for the New York Times, I\u2019ve got a sound bite of him today saying we just gotta give up this addiction to this game. We gotta stop loving this game. This game is just pathetic, meaning the NFL. I mean, the long knives are now out for this game, and they\u2019ve been out for quite a while.<\/p>\n

<\/a>The left has got this game in its sights. I have warned everybody about this. When I do, people think I\u2019m a nut, a kook. “Nobody can bring down the NFL, what are you talking about, Rush? You see politics in everything and you think that these political forces on the left have the ability to bring about change.” <\/p>\n

What in the world is happening to our culture, folks? The left targets something it doesn\u2019t like and they never give up and they keep going until they ruin it. And I\u2019m telling you, National Football League is in their crosshairs right now. One of the most important planks of liberalism, militant feminism, is the vehicle which is being utilized in this latest effort to undercut the game. <\/p>\n

RUSH: The National Association of Gals. That\u2019s our pet name for the NOW gang. “Terry O\u2019Neill, [the head NAG], has called for NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to resign, citing Ray Rice\u2019s assault on his now-wife as just one of many examples of the league\u2019s failure to act against domestic violence.”<\/p>\n

A statement from the from the chief NAG reads this way: “The NFL has lost its way. It doesn\u2019t have a Ray Rice problem; it has a violence against women problem,\u2019 O\u2019Neill said in a statement. … The only workable solution is for Roger Goodell to resign, and for his successor to appoint an independent investigator with full authority to gather factual data about domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking within the NFL community, and to recommend real and lasting reforms.”<\/line><\/p>\n

So, folks, look, I don\u2019t mean to be patting myself on the back here, but was this not predictable? Was this not seen? Did I not…? I don\u2019t even like saying it this way. I warned everybody, and now look. We\u2019ve got Week One under our belts in the NFL. We\u2019ve got the first Thursday night game of the year… Well, the second. The opening game was last Thursday. It\u2019s the first regular season…<\/p>\n

No, it\u2019s the second. But the first one for CBS is tomorrow night. Interestingly, it\u2019s the Ravens and the Steelers. Maybe execute Ray Rice at halftime, I don\u2019t know, and make the NAGs happy. Or maybe do it pregame. Either one. If not that, then a public flogging. A stoning! There you go! A stoning. Let the NAGs go out and lead it, if we\u2019re gonna pander to \u2019em. Anyway, look at this. So now the NAGs are out there demanding:<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a football league, and now look at it.<\/p>\n

And right in there, facilitating this all along, has been the Drive-By Media sports media, \u2019cause they glom onto these social issues. Oh, they love these leftist social issues. They love reporting all the suspensions. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s just unbelievable.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Just to reiterate, the National Association of Gals, the NAGs, have demanded that Roger Goodell resign, the commissioner. “The NFL,” says the chief NAG here, Terry O\u2019Neill, “has lost its way. It doesn\u2019t have a Ray Rice problem; it has a violence against women problem.” Really? Really? When is that? The league goes all pink every October. Where is this violence-against-women stuff?<\/p>\n

Ray Rice and who else? Who? Give me a name. Who else? Remember those fake stats that the NAGs and a bunch of people put out every Super Bowl that said that wife abuse, spouse abuse is at an all-time high every Super Bowl? Remember that? A flat-out lie. That was way, way back many moons ago. But it stood for a while. People thought it was true. It was later debunked. <\/p>\n

“In the release, [the NAGs] listed Rice, San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Ray McDonald, Carolina Panthers defensive lineman Greg Hardy and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones [laughing] as examples of cases the league has failed to act upon. ‘The NFL sets the example for college, high school, middle school and even elementary school football programs,\u2019 [the chief NAG] said.<\/line><\/p>\n

“‘And the example it is setting right now is simply unacceptable. New leadership must come in with a specific charge to transform the culture of violence against women that pervades the NFL. That\u2019s the only way to restore honor …'” Look, if they\u2019re serious about this, it isn\u2019t the NFL that they\u2019ve gotta focus on. If they\u2019re really serious about this, they\u2019ve gotta focus on… (chuckling)<\/p>\n

Well, you know. <\/p>\n

Where were the NAGs when Juanita Broaddrick said she was raped by Bill Clinton? Where were the NAGs when Kathleen Willey was stalked and hit on by Bill Clinton? Where were the NAGs when Gennifer Flowers and all the “bimbos” were assaulted? Where were they? Where were it is NAGs when Paula Jones was called trailer trash by James Carville who said, “This is what you get when you drag a dollar bill through a trailer park”? <\/p>\n

Where were the NAGs during all of that? I\u2019m telling you, there is an assault on football here. It\u2019s all part of this focus on concussions, and I am convinced that the people that run this league have no idea what they\u2019re up against. They really don\u2019t. They have no clue, and they have no clue how to deal with it. They deal with it like every other group of cowards deals with all these other attacks on the left.<\/p>\n

They pander. They try to appease and please and give them a portion or all of what they are demanding and want. The thing that they don\u2019t get is that with the left, it\u2019s never about what they say they\u2019re angry about. It\u2019s never about that, and they can\u2019t be appeased. They can never be pleased. They can never be made happy. They never are.<\/p>\n

No matter what they\u2019re given, no matter what compromises are made in their direction, they\u2019re never happy with whatever they get. Be it a tax increase, be it nationalization of health care, they never end up happy with what they get. But this is about much more than that, and this has been so easy to see coming. It\u2019s been out there. But the people in the NFL think they\u2019re an impenetrable fortress.<\/line><\/p>\n

They\u2019re so big and they\u2019re so popular. “I mean, look at the TV ratings.” Yeah, look at the TV ratings. They\u2019re down this year from last year. Now, it\u2019s only the first week, but I\u2019ve got a bad feeling about this. I\u2019ve got a bad feeling because I don\u2019t think… They\u2019re afraid of the wrong people in the NFL. They\u2019re worried about the wrong people, and they do not understand really who and what they\u2019re up against, even now. (sigh)<\/p>\n

You know, Goodell could resign, it wouldn\u2019t end anything. You just fuel the NAGs and they would start demanding more things. ‘Cause pretty soon what they\u2019re gonna be saying is, “To hell with violence against women. The game itself is too violent. We don\u2019t need this in our culture. We don\u2019t need this kind of barbarism in our society. We don\u2019t need these kinds of rewards for injuring people.<\/p>\n

“We don\u2019t need these kinds of rewards, financial or otherwise, for giving people concussions. We don\u2019t need these kinds of rewards for turning students out of colleges that don\u2019t have degrees and don\u2019t have any education. We don\u2019t need to be rewarding any of this. This game simply is not what America is about in the twenty-first century.” That\u2019s where this is headed. <\/p>\n

“This game is too violent. It\u2019s too ugly. It rewards violence, celebrates it, and we are not a violent society anymore. We\u2019re not going to be.” This is where they\u2019re headed, and right in there assisting with this (unwittingly, by the way) have been the sports Drive-Bys who love leftist cultural upheaval wherever it happens. The Drive-By Media sports guys are happy as pigs in slop to be reporting all this stuff.<\/p>\n

Oh, you can\u2019t hold \u2019em back. You go to any of the football sites now that you check and do a comparison of how many stories there are on football, actual football games played last Sunday — roster, whatever you want to look at — versus this stuff, and you\u2019re gonna be shocked that over half of the news in the NFL is now not just about Ray Rice.<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s about the ugliness, the barbarism, the concussions, the life-threatening aspects of playing this game, the things it does to people. Pretty soon they\u2019re gonna explain wife beating and stalking by virtue of playing the game. Oh, yeah, football is gonna end up being blamed for all of these National Organization for Women malcontent complaints. “The game turns decent, ordinary predator men into stalkers and violent rapists and muggers and purse snatchers.<\/line><\/p>\n

“And we\u2019ve gotta do something about it.” The game is gonna take the hit for this when… Well, the game has some culpability in it but this cultural rot doesn\u2019t start with the game. It starts much earlier in life, and the league simply takes the people best qualified to play wherever they come from, and then they try to manage them however they can once they get there. <\/p>\n

Check this. Do a Google search on this, and you\u2019ll be surprised. Do a Google search on a search term that\u2019s something like, “NFL executives who say they can\u2019t understand why so many young men would throw away such a golden opportunity in life to play in the NFL, to prosper, to earn a good living. Why?” There are football executives and coaches all over this country publicly scratching their heads.<\/p>\n

“Why would these young men come to this university and get arrested for doing drugs and driving drunk? Why would they do it?” You\u2019d be shocked (if you do this) at the number of former coaches, current coaches, executives, studio commentators who are asking these questions as if they don\u2019t know, as if they can\u2019t understand why this is happening. But it doesn\u2019t matter to the NAGs and whoever additional critics tend to be. <\/p>\n

It\u2019d just be much easier to blame the game for all of this, this unacceptable violent behavior against women. The game is gonna be blamed, the game is gonna take the hit, and the people at the upper echelon of the game do not know how to deal with this. Just like the Republican Party doesn\u2019t know how to deal with it, folks. They don\u2019t know how to deal with the onrush of liberalism.<\/p>\n

They don\u2019t, and neither does the league. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Hey, how about this? Would you be surprised if Eric Holder and the Department of Justice decided to do an investigation of the NFL? Well, they did a civil rights violation investigation of Ferguson, Missouri. Oh, by the way, speaking of that, folks. Do you remember back when the video of the gentle giant robbing the Kwik Shop in St. Louis came out and the Drive-Bys were livid, just livid. And we came to find out that it was the Department of Justice that had suppressed the video, asked the local cops in Ferguson not to air the video of the gentle giant stealing a box of Swisher Sweets. <\/p>\n

The video came out and the Drive-Bys were outraged, remember? They were fit to be tied. It was discrimination. It was who knows what it was. But the same Drive-Bys hail the Ray Rice video, because it changed everything, and showed the real Ray Rice. But when a video came out and showed the real gentle giant ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, no way Jose, not gonna allow that, not gonna support it. But with the Ray Rice video, the media, folks, the media that depends on this game for its living is participating in this assault on the game, at least in my view as I look at it from afar. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
